Woodford Double Oaked makes me think of french toast while Old Forester 1910 makes me think of caramelized sugar on a Creme Brulee. I'm so glad to see you doing vids on pours that are easy to find. Cheers Trev!

I’m a Woodford Reserve drinker. It’s my all around go to. I’ve always liked the double oaked version but currently don’t have one in my collection. While watching numerous videos on the Old Forester 1910, I finally purchased a bottle last week. Wow, really liked it. Now, my goal is to pick up a bottle of the Woodford double oaked and do a direct comparison. Your video was very helpful and look forward to trying both, together!

Both are very, very tasty & both are somewhat expensive (Upstate NY) WRDO @ $64.79 out the door & the OF1910 @ $56.13. If I had to pick one, I would go with the OF1910 and at $8 cheaper, that's great for me. I actually just picked up another bottle of OF1910 tonight. Awesome review and 🥃Cheers!

Agree with your review. Prefer the 1910, but both are great in different ways, so I always keep both on hand. I get sometimes bananas foster on the 1910 but with an espresso drizzle. I think 1910 is great for people who like espresso or drink their coffee black.
The Woodford is more simple dessert-ish, like maple on waffles.

  • @stevenreed007

I love both OF 1910 and WRDO! I think they are dessert-like pours, but I described the difference as: 1910 is a vanilla creme brûlée with slight cinnamon and that the WRDO is a dark caramel creme brûlée with brown sugars and all-spice. To me, 1910 has more lighter, sweeter sugars and WRDO has more molasses and those darker fruit sugars like plum. Both have wood char flavors, but to me, WDRO seems darker (not burnt wood, but darker sugars) than the 1910. I drink them both quite often, but with their richness in sugars, they are usually reserved for after a meal (like steak) or when I want a dessert-like bourbon to enjoy.

I agree that JBDO is not near as good but man at less than half the price I did pick up another bottle of it because I still like it and will have it on a night where I know I will be having more than a couple of drinks. I think part of it is because both WR and OF makes a better product than JB to begin with.

I'm always curious to see peoples' preferences between these two. They're both finished in the same manner, and are sibling distilleries of the same corporation, and are both favorites of mine, but I can easily identify each in a blind taste, so they're not nearly as identical as you might think. Personally, I prefer the Woodford. Point is, you're not being redundant in buying both.
