      Congrats on the MSF. I recommend that to new and returning riders. I'm right there with you on the motorcycle travel aspirations. We're wrapping up a couple of weeks of cool rainy weather here as winter's last bitter farewell before spring arrives in its full glory. My 800 mile round trip to northern Georgia and back last weekend was postponed due to unfavorable weather, but it's on for next weekend. I'm stoked for the first motorcycle camping trip of the season. I'm also going to get away this year for overnight trips during the week as well as some purposeful solo day trips. Ride safely and have fun!

      @@Alpha-bb1wl - I don't want to go into Los Vegas but I do want to ride across the Hoover Dam and out the Kingman Wash Access Road. I have a large file of US motorcycle adventure destinations. I camped and rock climbed in Yosemite in 1988 and it was gorgeous - Nature in her fullest majesty. I didn't like all of the people but it wouldn't be fair to have all of that natural splendor to myself. If you can find some less traveled area adjacent to the Yosemite valley, that might be the overall best experience.
      I'm buying even more motorcycle camping equipment and I'm currently 3D printing the last of the custom parts needed to mount a Pelican waterproof case on my handlebars as a glove box in lieu of a tank bag. I'm mounting a frame for a Samsung A7 Lite tablet on top of the Pelican case so I'll have a large GPS navigation screen running OSMand, or a split screen with OSMand and the GoPro control app so I can easily and safely operate the chin mounted GoPro. I mounted the engine protection bars last week and I'll be installing the BarkBuster hand guard clones soon. I need to stop futzing and farkling and do more ultralight motorcycle camping. 🙂

Maybe asking for permission to use the person in your video is a polite thing to do, but definitely not legally required in this instance.

      I have nothing against stealth camping done appropriately but i would rather prefer to find a legal backcountry place to camp like in a National Forest or BLM land. I don't usually need a campground either. But sometimes when the sun is going down and you are in an unfamiliar or semi-residential area you do what you have to do. I was happy to pay $40 in this case for a nice place to camp and a shower, after many long days on the road.

    I just did trade a GSA for the RT.

    Yes, taking locals advice is an iffy situation. Like you say, 'everyone wants to be helpful' and they want you to enjoy their place ; but they are not exactly tuned into what you are after. But you never know. Once in Newfoundland an older lady was telling us about three different places that her late husband used to take her to. She was nice, but we didn't esspecially give it much credence...then by chance we slowly recognized we were actually following her directions anyway...turns out she was right 100%. So you never know.

    I presume that you recorded this video last summer of 2022 because you just mention it’s in the middle of summer when we’re actually in the beginning of spring right now???…
    Is that right?

    Hey Sterling, I notice the warning light on your dash is on nearly all the time, is that because you ride with low tyre pressures?

    • @SterlingNoren
      @SterlingNoren  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have Woodys Wheels that do not have tyre pressure sensors and thus it is always warning me that there is no sensor.

      I agree, campgrounds tend to charge too much for motorcycles. I think $20 would be fair. As long as you're in a no water, no electric site.

    These gorgeous videos can obviously be enjoyed by adventure motorcyclists, but also by the armchair travel voyeurs who enjoy watching other people's adventures on PBS or National Geographic.
    There are areas of British Columbia where logging operations clear cut all but the 100 yard strips on the sides of the roads so tourists see dense pine forests and don't realize that the land has been denuded beyond their limited view. That subterfuge is less successful now that people are using drones to capture their adventures.
    Apple and cheese? Have you gone native? My wife is from Vermont and she loves to eat apple and cheese. I always suspected that's a Canadian thing. Also, maple syrup is a religious sacrament.

      That kind of forestry "management" isn't limited to BC unfortunately, I've seen it occur all over the place.

      @@SterlingNoren - They have those big heavy lift helicopters that can swoop in and snip a large fir tree and carry it off as easily as picking asparagus - no logging roads needed, no terrain impediments to "harvesting" steep hillsides, and minimal labor required. Cue the 70s commercial with the native American shedding a single tear. :-/
