    42:16 It was not BALZAC that talked about opium, It was Beaudelaire. Charles Beaudelaire wrote « les paradis artificiels »and was inspired by the orientalism 📖

    "We are smelling dreams". I love how you take us on an emotional journey with the perfumes. Fleurissimo is so beautiful and very unique. I'm enjoying a decant at the moment but would love the full bottle when it's gone. Thanks for another interesting vintage perfumes video xx🌹

      Hey thank you so much for watching 🙏 yes, some perfumes are really dreams in bottle and fleurissimo is one of them. It is going to be my next purchase.... this is a really elegant perfume and the sillage is pretty strong. I think if someone is smelling you randomly in the streets, he/she will remember you for life. One of these rare perfumes that can transform your day...😘

      @@bizzynotes6785 without any hesitation Jean Louis scherrer! I discovered this perfume 6 years ago in San Fransisco at Jacqueline perfumery.. and I used to wear this one when I went out with my ex fiancé. I have such great memories with this perfume.... this one is also rare and very elegant. I am currently looking for an other Chypre with more floral notes because I am moving to an other chapter in my life... if you have any suggestion.... JLS is very green and boisé and I tend to love white flowers...😘

      @@Aliceinparisofficial thank you so much for the recommendation! I will definitely try to find some. I really love how perfume captures our memories and important times in our lives. I asked a colleague who's perfume left an incredible chypre sillage and she told me it was Paloma Picasso which I think has a rose note. Cristalle by Chanel is a very fresh chypre that has some white flowers. Very 70's sporty chic I think! I would also like to try Eau du Soir by Sisley 😘🌹

    Quelques Fleurs was also Dita Von Teese's signature scent for years. Unsure what she wears now. I bet she still owns this one and if so, I totally understand why. It's a floral for people who normally dislike straight florals. Really gorgeous. The other shockingly wearable white floral for 'people who hate florals' is Sir Galahad by Isabey. Absolutely gorgeous. Love at first sniff.

    I'm regaling you with stories of my father in law today - but along with Scherrer's Indian Nights - he also bought me a bottle of YSL Opium, the EDT, decades ago now - and I still wear and treasure it. I prefer Indian Nights as it is to me that is the height of an intoxicating orientale, but I do enjoy Opium. Between you and another you tube reviewer who loves it too, I have put Houbigant's Quelques Fleurs on my 2023 wish list! Thanks for another great iconic perfumes review - it is truly your forte!

    • @Aliceinparisofficial
      @Aliceinparisofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello again, yeah me too I prefer Indians night over Opium. Although Opium is a great perfume, it’s not my style. It’s very intoxicating and capitous. Indian night has something more delicate, more refined in my opinion. They are both oriental perfumes but with different vibe. Thank you 🙏

      @@Aliceinparisofficial Yes, Indian Nights to me is simply smoother and richer, more refined and elegant. I smelled Opium on my both teachers. They were friends with each other and shared the love for this particular parfum. On one of them this fragrance smelled divine and matched her look completely. On the other it. Didn’t do any special. It was mind blowing how the same fragrance can smell so different on different people. Having said that Opium is gorgeous but only for specific people, not all can wear it. It’s a statement perfum

    As a historiographer...and someone who is also a master gardener and someone who has a scientific bent...genetic science has revealed that a person's genetics determine what scents they like, and which scents they loathe.
    First example is cilantro. Some people love cilantro...and a particular gene tells others that they hate cilantro. The same with asparagus. Some people can smell an asparagus chemical excreted in urine.
    The nose/chemist who was working with Coco Chanel got soooo mad/upset with her that he threw the entire flask of green aldehydes into the vat...thinking it would turn her stomach but not knowing that s-o-m-e people like the smell of the soapy fats in the aldehydes, and only some are repulsed by it. For certain, Chanel #5 is polarizing...but we know now that it is genetic...coded in our DNA makeup. Chanel had the gene that indicated she loved the smell of aldehydes. I have the gene that aldehydes literally turn my stomach and I cannot abide it. Same with Quelques Fleurs. I bought a 2 mil decant, and I smelled the aldehydes first and the other notes secondly. I am NOT a fan, and will not be buying a bottle!!!
    Thank goodness that there's scientific training for the noses who now create fragrances that many people are repulsed by aldehydes genetically and they have STOPPED using aldehydes in fragrances.
    Dominique Ropion is my favorite "nose". I don't like his early work, like Ysatis and Amarige, because there are aldehydes in it...but his recent work--like Portrait of A Lady, Vanagloria, and Babycat--I absolutely LOVE...because there are no green aldehydes in the formula.

    So I don’t know if you work in sales but I think you could sell air easily.Though the Murmure mini wasn’t a coup du cœur for me and the mini Delices Cartier has not yet arrived (probably tomorrow), I just ordered a Vent Vert vintage mini. I couldn’t resist after hearing that description. I also got a free Diorissimo decant sample at the shop where I tried it. You’re turning me into a miniature perfume collector… 🙈

    • @Aliceinparisofficial
      @Aliceinparisofficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t work in sales but in finance 🤣 I am glad you discover all these perfumes. Vent vert is very very iconic. It is one of the first green clean and fresh perfume in the market. It was very new at that time because most perfumes were Chypre or aldehydes ( soapy and yellow flowers notes). So very avant garde. I think from what you describe to me, you are a very Chypre green and clean perfume lady. So you might love Vent Vert which smells like fresh clean grass. It is similar to Cristalle by Chanel but with a more fresh direction. It’s really like a fresh green windy air. I think Vent Vert deserves a review by itself. There is no perfume like that even today and Balmain decided to discontinue this one to replace with insipid, cheap and tacky new perfumes. Very bad!
