Imagine Boro sitting and painting in the hospital when someone asks him:
    "Hi! What are you painting?"
    "I paint what I see."
"And what is that black thing standing over there?"
    "Oh... can't you... see it?"

I like the idea that they live in this beautiful garden that they take care of but because they're so busy with themselves and how they look, their garden is dying and bugs and other creatures have come to eat away at it. Because they're so distracted by themselves they're forgetting about what they really love- their garden. I think it works well with your main idea for the piece and it could make for a really fun painting.

i have an idea for the art. have moss or vines or some sort of overgrowth growing on things, plants are not connected with a time period and if they are not managed then they grow all over the place, a pretty good solution or thing to add.

The quality of paint you are achieving with your software is excellent, and that Frankenstein tripod idea is brilliant. I also like that his hair is smoke-like, as if his thoughts are burning himself up. As for a suggestion for what the character could be doing that is timeless, maybe the mirrors are shards of a broken mirror and he is supposed to be putting it back together (putting himself together) but he can't quit analyzing the broken shards (of himself). You mentioned judging yourself "every second of every day." Maybe the mirror is part of a clock (symbolizing wasted time) that he is supposed to be repairing. There could be tools around him that he is ignoring. One hand is dropping a tool to pick up another shard. It might need other workers in the background doing their jobs correctly for contrast.
    Just some thoughts.

Also having multiple canvases so you can go back to one instead of clearing it. :)

  • @samju5463
    @samju5463 5 ปีที่แล้ว +38

I think it is quite impossible to show what the character could be doing instead of looking in the mirror while he is doing something. Like even when one hand would do something different it would not show what he could do if he wasn't looking at himself. It just shows what he is doing while he's hating himself. In my Opinion it would be better if someone in the background does something. That is showing that the main character is doing nothing but looking at himself while others just enjoy life with doing stuff they like. I hope i can deliver the idea i want to show.

Or in those cyan+yellow crystals, it could be images of him doing things (in the past), which would certainly show he is NOT doing those things right now and rather picking himself apart to look inside?

    a few ideas!
1: a planet falling appart like a puzzle implying he could be fixing the world
2: just make his space cluttered and chaotic, meaning its whole existance is in ruin while focused on something like this
3: some forms of food, meaning that they are ignoring sustaining themselves
Glad to see some art from you again! :D

I'm so happy you are back!! I missed your drawings and art tips, it's looking awesome and the app looks amazing too. As a suggestion for what he could be doing, maybe threading something? I dunno, it just seems something that feels otherworldly and that has been done forever, or he could be creating something as if he were modeling clay, but it's light or something like that, just to symbolise creation

  • @Sund3v3
    @Sund3v3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

What about weaving something? Not only is it an act as old as humanity but it's visual and can metaphorically represent the life thread of the character. You know, like those three ladies, the Fates, in Greek mythology that weave a person's fate? Except since his is lying unfinished it can imply not only an unfinished task but an unfulfilled destiny or life purpose. It can also be a cool way to add some more of that yellow color and the flowing shape of a thread would contrast nicely with the sharp shapes of the rocks.
Anyway, I love the concept and I'm looking forward to the next episode.

    Hi Dante. Nice work!
I think; if the composition is not going to feature conventional tools, like a hammer, you need to imply a broken sequence, something that reads as unfinished and waiting for interaction. like maybe some shapes that fit together like puzzle pieces but is strewn about neglected.

Congrats for the app. I hope that you will think of a version for android someday. The illustration is taking a good road and I just suggest if you would add in the foreground some kind of dwarfs or any kind of servants who are making the glasses. Maybe because he is a some kind of king that he thinks the problem is totally about the glasses. Then the mirrors would have different reflections and deformations for his face. And he keeps ordering them to bring more sand to burn. Good luck for that.

  • @LordBaktor
    @LordBaktor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I can't give you a concrete thing to represent "useful work", but I remembered an interesting thought from a book I read that might spark an idea: "Work is indistinguishable from sacrifice". In the book they talk about how it was such a big step for prehistoric humans to discover that sacrificing a bit of food now (saving it for later, giving it to someone that didn't have any, etc) could yield benefits in the future. This was such a revelation that they (the prehistoric humans) dramatized the concept into ritualistic sacrifices to higher beings or concepts, giving birth to the first religions. That is where the idea that working hard (or sacrificing, since they are undistinguishable) is the only way to have a chance at leading a meaningful life. The "entity" in your painting might be to busy looking for meaning in themselves to realize the potential they have.

  • @KiraHelper

I really like the thought-process in this video!
The concept in itself is something I've been thinking about lately as well, so it's cool to see how you're conceptualizing it!
For something to grab I could imagine one of the 'items' being sand..? It could be pouring from outside the picture or something, I don't know...
As you said, it's a timeless picture, but .. Maybe what the person needs _is_ time?
Btw, I am severely jealous of your frankenstein ipad stand...

you might be able to somehow show that the thing that he is supposed to do is soemthing to make him (or his inside) reflective. so he hates himself because the reflections in the mirrors are not as well as he wants them to be, while he can make them be what he wants them to be by doing the thing that makes them reflective. it can something like a reflective liquid that he has around him but doesn't use to make his reflection better and clearer. (this is such a confusing thing to try to explain).

this is amazing. i could tell that you enjoyed painting this. it seemed to me like lately you didn't really feel like painting, like maybe you were burned out or something? it's great to see you so lively and painting again :) i thought the painting would be cool if he has extra arms holding himself up, like bent arms around everywhere, and hands leaning against the ground grabbing things from the environment to hold his body in place. it would look kind of awkward but would make sense if the character is not comfortable with how he feels about himself. hope things are going well for you! take care :D

The pink creature could be holding the ripped off faces of other similarly human creatures like him in one or two of his hands. Kind of like he wants to look like them so took their faces out of envy, and is ripping himself apart to look at and compare himself to them. Kinda like how damaging it is to compare yourself to others. Could also explain his expression, like a mix of sadness and dissapointment, that taking their faces did not make him any prettier and he realises it.
Maybe they could be a dark blue, or if you dont want him holding them, have some draped across the rocks around him.

Maybe he could be polishing the rocks into beautiful stones or something like that maybe one or two completed ones and a couple incomplete rocks that progressively look worse

now im interested in craft pro. i think u should do some collaboration with other youtuber artist to share their idea about the craft pro. in my opinion u probably should add more editing tool within this app (selecting, ruler, liner, blur etc). i really like this picture idea actually and thinking a bit of lore behind this creature. Maybe it could be somekind of curse or desease for someone that doing this "over self-evaluating" behavior. maybe add a group of person looking at this giant (this curse turn people into a gloomy pink giant). well thats my idea (LOL).

    So, basically:
-Do the background roughly with multiple values for non-monotony
-Choose character colours based on background
    -Choose light source(s)
-Draw one mid-tone character with slight opacity changes based on the brush
-Sketch above the drawing more specifics
-Add further mid-tone for the specified character design,
-Add one value of light and darkness each
-Add different, weaker, light and deeper darkness/shadow
    -Simultaneously, develop background further
    -Add/define details
    -And blend
-Define more critical details like the face
-Add "last minute" conceptual stuff like broken legs
[I always had the trouble of painting with "too small strokes", using a bunch of colours from the beginning, the same brush for everything, and not knowing what I want.
All that combined, sadly, always leads to a dishevelled, boring, and way-to-long-taking picture.
I am assuming that I am just painting like a beginner and am too lazy to look up tutorials on my program, Krita, so, I just tried to understand your painting style fast.]

Hi, Borodante, I download Craft Pro today and it really changes how fast I paint and how much I enjoy, like it would be on tradicional media. The blending is already much better than any other ipad app. It would be nice to give you some feedbacks about how it could be even faster.

How about some pot plants that must be tended to because they are dying? So he is not only neglecting and being destructive to himself but to things around him.

the character could be holding distorted versions of itself .. i know it's a bit vague but you know when you're actually a pretty decent artist but sometimes you don't improve the way you think it's ideal so you see yourself so little, or so ugly like your're a reflection of the crap artwork you think you do? i mean, i know you don't associate your self esteem to your art but that's basically what happens, you feel you're as worthless as your artwork!
btw the app is awesome, i've been using it a lot! thanks!
