Everyone in this video survived #thankyoujesus........
......but, there were a few broken bones.
This is a reminder of how dangerous BASE jumping, and spending time in the mountains can be.

Big thank you to all BASE jumpers and videographers that supplied footage. You all know who you are! Haha. We’ve all made mistakes, some less fortunatate than others but thankfully all the guys involved in this carnage video are either back jumping or have recovered from their injuries. Safe jumping everyone!
These jumps and video clips took place over 2018 and 2019 in England, Wales and Scotland.

I've only done 4 base jumps in my life so far, so I'm new. This feeling of standing on the edge is just surreal and I was scared to death every time. Many people don't understand that it is not the longing for death that drives us but rather the irrepressible urge for freedom. Sometimes you have to let go from life to live it to the fullest. The idea of wasting my life with a bag of chips in front of the tv has always been a lot more terrifying for me than dying on a base jump. So I'll keep going..

So what if your loved ones will have to live on with the absolute sadness of knowing that you became tomato mush at the end of a cliff. Hey! You were doing what you wanted, right?

A lot of jumpers have different reasons, Some people prefer having dexterity when performing specific actions... Such as,, being able to quickly operate the steering toggles straight after initial deployment of canopy.

    Did first brake his ankles/legs?

  • @LegalTyranny

Non-base jumper here with a technical question. At around @2:25 did this guy manage to pull out of the move towards the cliff because he went straight to tugging on the chute line that would spin him? Did he not have time to go for one of the brakes? I think I've seen this in other impacts where people fumble trying to grab a brake when pulling on the chute line seems quicker to grab.

Yes, he grabbed the risers/lines above the line twist to steer. Not a base jumper myself, but I imagine grabbing a brake toggle would not be good in that situation as the lines are twisted so would be a nightmare to try and pull them, they'd just be tight and stuck in the twist if that makes sense, and pulling the risers/lots of lines as opposed to just the brake lines allows for a more responsive turn to get away from the wall sharpish.
