I will agree with you on just one point and that is, Kashmiri students are doing PhD just as an alternative. Other than that, I would say this is rubbish( I will give reasons). GYAAN CHODNA IS EASY WHEN YOU ARE NOT STUCK IN THE SYSTEM. We will go institute by institute in JK. There is a contractual professor in department of biology or biochemistry in Kashmir University who is on contractual basis for the last 10 years. He has done PhD from premier institute of India and probably postdoc from Harvard, he isn't getting the permanent position just because people in KU prefer their relatives over him. (AB WO BICHARA PHD JAHANNAM SE KAREGA KYA, TAB MILAI GI POSITIION?) Coming to NIT Srinagar, where position is decided by HOD, you can see the recruitment of Humanities department of 2021, a person got position just because he was somehow related to HOD. Same happened to persons in Engineering departments. In IIIM jammu even the students already know who is going to get the position that too before the position being advertised. I AM SURPRISED, EITHER YOU ARE PLAYING DUMB OR YOU ARE TRYING TO FOOL PEOPLE! It is simple, it doesn't matter who your supervisor is or your PhD topic is. If you have relatives in Kashmiri Universities, you will get the position. Otherwise, don't waste your energy and don't get demotivated with this gyaan.

When I was doing my master next thing I had in my mind was PhD but Thanks to Allah for showing me the way. There is a phd scholar from kashmir university Mathematics department...he is working in school education as a + 2 lecturer,but he has never stopped his research work .he has nearly 100 publications in a very reputed journals...Honestly he is doing justice to his research work...working at school level only ,he has guided many scholars without any benefit...even nobody knows accept those scholars that he is guiding them...
Sac 2019 order which paid the absorption of ret SSA teachers against vacant teacher and lecturer posts, there by freezing these posts for 15 yrs is one of the major reasons the pg, PhD are loosing demand in jk
Jo chori pe laga hai usi k under PhD karo, coz he knows how he gets his scholars selected by mischief. Recently in Physics AP selection, paper was set by an NIT professor physics department, his 5 scholars got selected where only abt 10 posts were in general category and he shamelessly boasted on internet about it. The scholars had already approached PSC abt this, bit they didn't give a shit.
I am also in this journey the biggest blunder was my guide he never guides me never see my research work infact when it comes to topic selection he used to say I don't have time do whatever u want after that I become my supervisor and scholar both to myself then he retired but I suffered a lotttttt during this journey itz all becoz of my disgusting guide

I can honestly say that research is completely dead in the valley. And it'll take ages to revive. Kashmir must invite its research diaspora that's spread across the globe and they must reach out to the grass root level. Among all the research institutions, only SKAUST is doing some notable work and creating entrepreneurs. The rest of organisations are just creating a liability and nothing else.
A bitter fact is that as i have experienced that most of the students pursue their Phd so that they will be shown tommorrow in contructual list to some extent full their needs

Come on, yar. How does it matter who your guide is and what your degree is? And, in the first place, the point is, if you want to get a government job, why do you do a PhD? I mean, to get a job, you need to qualify for an exam. A PhD is not the criteria for getting a job, and for that, you can be just a 12th pass or a graduate. What matters is your hard work and ability.
I can list various brilliant scholars who have earned doctorates from JNU DU and other prestigious institutions in India but are still unemployed.The fault lies in the system and government policies not in the scholars brilliance....

Having a renowned supervisor in Doctorate is a privilege but making it the defining criteria in getting a job is a narrow view of reality. The world we currently live in is lingering in crisis and unemployment is one among them. It is actually the failure of Capitalism to deliver, otherwise our planet earth is capable of delivering to more than 50 billion of people at one go, but people are dying with poverty in and out with a huge number of other man made socio, Political and economic pandemics.
