      I know.. And that's a good thing, before the world was giving attention to dagestan and it's culture because of khabib, you already made educational video about dagestan history.. I mean.. You're really into history..
      And please do make video about him and his people, the Avars if im not mistaken, I would like to know what is their geological, political, and personal history, their upbringing.. How did they had ties with Russia..
      And is he mixed avars or north or south.. You know things like that..
      Anyway.. I enjoy your video.. I love history too.. 🙂

    Your dedication to languages not your own tells me you are not desperately unimaginative like most people who are remarkably unremarkable and exceptionally unexceptional, extraordinarily ordinary and unusually usual. You must read the best book out there about the courageous Avars . THE SABRES OF PARADISE by Leslie Blanche. After this book I was hooked by the Caucasus, even marrying a flawless Georgian woman , more angel than human. I have no children but would name my son Shamyl after the legendary, bigger than life Lion of Dagestan, Again I thank you endlessly for your wonderful words about this incredible man.

    Excellent video. It is known that Avars were in the Carpathian Basin (Pannonia) before the Magyars (Hungarians). Many believe the Avars intermixed with the Magyars to form the current Hungarian population. It is not known how much the Hungarian language was influenced by the Avar language. This would be an excellent topic to explore.

    • @allaboutrussia2022
      @allaboutrussia2022  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Absolutely, its hard to imagine the entire Avar population that migrated to the Pannoniun basin up and vanished!

    • @BetyarPali
      @BetyarPali 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@allaboutrussia2022 the linguists are now researching whether the Avars actually spoke "Hungarian". That would make sense, since the occupying Magyars in 896 AD were small in numbers in comparison to the number of indigenous inhabitants of the Carpathian Basin. The Magyars may have been assimilated within the local population, due to their relatively small numbers.

      @Mike Dawson sorry, but I find that a little hard to believe that a country can uproot 100% of its population that has been settled for hundreds of years. I think the majority of the Avars were still in the Carpathian basin when the Magyars arrived.

      No, just no. Ossetians are genetically and culturally completely Circassian and Georgian. Also it is just a theory they are descend from Ossetians, Ingusethians ve closer genetics to Alans than Ossetians. No need to bring nationalism here.

      This is very true. Ossetians are the descendants of the ancient Alans. It's also crazy how their language is closer to Iranic speaking groups like Persian, Kurdish, Talysh etc. Rather than other Caucasian's. Obviously modern day people are very mixed.

    • @DGR233

      The Ossetians are still culturally distinct from their neighbours. In fact, they were the ones who brought the nart myths to the Caucasus. Which was then adopted by the Circassians and Abkhazians and to a certain extent the Ingush and Chechens too.

    As far as I can tell the Hungarian (Magyar) version of the names of the 12 tribes are:
    Archintsy - O:rs or Varsany
    Hvarshin - Varsany or Harsany
    Bezhtin - Becs/Pecs or Bors/Bars
    Gunzib - Kun/Hun
    Ginuhtsy - Jeno"
    Akhvakhtsy - Bekes/Bakos or Ugocsa or Apa like Latin Aqua (a tough one, basically Ak+Bagh, both from the same root word)
    Karatintsy - Kerecseny/Karacsony
    Tindi - Tata/Tatar/Duda
    Bagvalal - Magyar or Bogar/Bolgar (based on Bagh/Balkh-var)
    Godoberin - Kadar or Kocs/Kedd + Apor?
    Botlikhtsy - Bodrog
    Chamalal - Csoma/Komar/Szomor/Zsombor hard to know which one came from which and when

    In order to shed light on the genetic affinity of above groups we have determined Y chromosomal haplogroups and autosomal loci, suitable to predict biogeographic ancestry, from 49 individuals, supposed to represent the power/military elit. Haplogroups from the Hun-age are consistent with Xiongnu ancestry of European Huns. Most of the Avar-age individuals carry east Eurasian Y haplogroups typical for modern north-eastern Siberian and Buryat populations and their autosomal loci indicate mostly un-admixed Asian characteristics.

      It's a good question which, frankly, is hard to answer. The Avar language is not a Turkic tongue, and the supposed origin of the Avars is thought to be the Caspian basin - an area of mixed Iranian and Turkic peoples. As such, its possible that some Avars have Turkic heritage I would hesitate to assume that most have or at some point had. To me, an Iranian connection makes more sense.

    I wish Islam wasn't as present to Europe as it was, I do love the Romance languages, but still. Think of it, would the Swedes have suffered from transmigrating the Ashkenazi to Poland? What would of happened to the Ashkenazi? This makes me think of Christianity and how it spread from Rome to other regions of Europe.
