Alexander McVittie Same here. I’m a mother 32 , Dfam , grandmother, eventide , Arturiakeylab , and a Traktor s4 deep. I love it. Except no one I know gives a crap So I’m searching or like minds.
Absolutely grateful for the great work you produce. I am very happy I found your channel and its wonderful musical soundscapes. The information and detail you give is invaluable for any newcomer in the world of synthesis. Thank you!
your videos are such a source of inspiration for me and it's not the first time i say this i think, you manage to do so much and so melodic with such a small system! its something i strive for too
Great patch and video! I feel like long-form generative patches are sorely underrepresented in the TH-cam modular world, so I always look forward to your videos as something I can put on while working or reading. :)
I'm alive! I posted on my facebook page to explain my absence; I started university and I'm completely bogged down in work and side projects. I'm still active online and responding to comments and messages, but unfortunately videos won't be coming for the foreseeable future.
@@AlastairWilsonMusic Thanks for update. Shame about vids but appreciate your time will be shorter with you starting Uni. Good luck with that and we will await your future vids. Cheers.
I don't have plans on making a video at the moment, because there's loads to say about how I make my patches, but in short - use reverbs and delays as part of the creative design, use modulation sources to modulate each other tons, and try and get as much contrast in timbre/envelope shapes/harmony/texture as you can!
From lefet to right - Veils (Quad VCA), Minimod VCO, Minimod DH-ADSR envelope generator, Maths. All my video descriptions have patch diagram links to modulargrid, where you can see details of all the modules!
My audio and visuals always go out of sync after a few minutes because of the sample rate differences, it's no different with this one. Putting the videos in sync with each other wasn't a problem because, since I recorded both separately and they aren't musically related, they didn't need to be in sync! I just chucked them together.
Hey sorry for the late reply - yes, if you credit me you can sample this track. You can download a higher quality version from bandcamp via the link in the description :)
Can the sequencer of the Mother 32 be started/stopped by an LFO via the patchbay? And when it´s stopped and starts again, does it continue at the last step where it stopped? Hope that makes sense, thanks :)
There's a CV input for starting and stopping the sequencer, and when you start it again it starts from where it left off - there's a separate input for resetting the sequence. Hope that helps!
@@AlastairWilsonMusic Thanks for the quick answer, yes that helps! I was considering sellign my Sub 37 for a Mother 32, but one thing I like about it is modulating the clocked sequencer speed by an LFO.. to get this randomness and speeding up and down of the sequence. Sounds like you can get into similar territory with the run/stop input.. there´s also tempo input next to it; so you can modulate the sequencer speed (also when clocked)?
For sure you can modulate the tempo with an LFO (or any other CV) - either by clocking it from an external source, or by modulating the internal clock so the sequence speeds up and slows down. Using random voltage to modulate the tempo is something I've done in a lot of my videos to add variety!
@@AlastairWilsonMusic nice! Yes I thought that it´s modulating options wouldn´t be any less than on the Sub37. I think I´m sold ;) Your tracks are great by the way, I love the self generating and changing patches and deep sound.
This type of ambient atmospheric stuff is what convinced me to make the plunge into modular analog synthesis. Keep up the gorgeous patches!

Same. Started with sound studio 3/moog trinity so trying to decide where it goes from here. Generative Journey. Wonderful work!

mesmerizing. great work.
This sounds great. I can't wait to dig into the patch and learn how it works.
Good stuff!
really really good
Stunning :)
Awesome and love the multi track will have to investigate that process. Wondering where you have gone as nothing for a month? You ok?

Interesting, your videos have the exact same aesthetic as State Azure
Can't go wrong with coloured lights and darkness :)
This stuff is sooooo hard to create!!
Yo could you do a to Tutorial on how to make ambient synths with the mother 32

Alastair Wilson sick bro! Thanks I’ll use your tips also found shimmer reverb adds some cool effects
Very nice thank you! What are the 4 units above the 2 M32s?
