  • One of the ongoing debates in exercise programming is deciding the best time of the day to work out. Long held beliefs sway in favor of exercising in the morning. But does the current research entail the same concept, or is a bit more complicated than that? Let's find out!

That's kinda... Unhealthy? That's way past the time of normal sleep schedule and waking up your nerves in that time would probably lead to sickness, specially since you have like no time to sleep. I guess you probably sleep 3am? Then wake up 7? Pretty unhealthy if you ask me. There are times when you can't really control the time of workouts so you make do with what you have, but if you're still doing that to this day then I suggest to just stop working out, it's way more detrimental to the body than it does good.

I trained for about 2 years on an empty stomach in the morning and man I can tell you working out in the afternoon is way better (okay maybe not for the gym goers because Its full as heck). I was shredded because of the morning workouts but at the same time I was sluggish and just wanted to sleep for some hours even when I was working and my productivity came to an hold. After switchting to a afternoon routine (and yes of course Its a lot harder to workout when you know you have freetime and after work) but after the workout I just take a little nap for 10 minutes and feel like a fresh born calb. Just try It out for some weeks and If the Gym is too full, just workout outside or @home. I trained for 10 years in a gym and working out outside with some gymnastic rings and a calisthenics park was my holy grail. Some Vitamin D from the Sun, meeting all kind of positive poeple and riding back home with my bike for some post workout cardio. Do the best of the things you have available.

You might want to try working out in the morning for a week...and THEN workout in the evening the next week..
Then ask yourself which FEELS better for you.
I worked out in the morning for like 3 years...
Then switched it to the evening because of my job.
My body is more awake, aware and stratched out in the evening(after the day's activities) then it was in the morning (just waking up and stratching).

If you're thinking specifically muscle growth later in the day( depending on when you wake up) is optimal. The protein synthesis is already doing work in the body since you've had maybe 2-3 meals already. If you're looking for weight loss and you're strong mentally i'll recommend doing early cardio "fasted", it dramatically helped me burn some extra calories which got me down to single digit fat%. Just my personal opinion

Hey guys.. I tried to change my training behaviour and train in the early morning... after a month , since some kind of adaptation has been established, I can say : training in the morning is a good thing for staying consistent and not to skip days.. However, it is obviously less productive, either for muscle groth or results... First sign which clarified this opinion was really simple feeling: in the morning your mental health and motivation to lift heavy is poor.. There are still fog in the head.. I just could not make myself work hard and concentrate enough. so in this state I probably could maintain result, but progress?? No way..
So, evening is best (at least for me).

I've always favored evening workouts. My body is awake, plenty warmed up from daily activity, and I have already eaten my meals for the day. I time my supplements out around my workout as well to maximize the efficiency of uptake and utilization. After working out in the evening I am also better able to go to sleep as I have now physically exhausted myself. I'm sure that resting the muscle immediately after working out also contributes to recovery time. I do like running in the AM though...

Question on cutting and bulking. First of all, let me say, this is my go to channel for fitness tips for various reasons. And yes I have seen the videos on bulking and cutting and I DO try to cycle between both. My question is this: with winter coming, and the inevitable weight gain along with it, should I try cutting to avoid the weight gain as much as possible? Or do I play to the strength and try bulking instead? If I'm going to gain weight, might as well try to have it be mostly muscle gains yes? Same with summer when it comes to bulking/cutting.In short, what is the best time of year for bulking and which is best for cutting?Thank you and keep up the great work.

I tried to explain how weight lifting have more benefit to the elders than the young people, the testosteron level, the muscle mass, the strength and health level all increase instead of getting lower when you aged. It actually the opposite of getting old. Since you are the best at explaining scientificly with all the research and fact, can you make a video about it so I can show it to them.

The evening you went throughout your day you've been walking you've been moving you're at your peak performance you're basically already warmed up, but you still need to do a warm-up before try getting a new PR. Evenings are best for high intensity workouts and weight training.

Sometimes I'll go at noon time on the weekends and sometimes I'll wait until like 5 or 6. Best things you can do troughout your day in order:
    1. wake up
    2. take a cold shower to REALLY wake you up
    3. knock off all your tasks/finish work with ease due to the focus and alertness you gain from the cold shower
    4. go home( but if you were at home all day why tf havent you done anything?! go meet up with friends if you have nothing to do man this shit is also very important, we're still human remember)
    5. eat dinner(to energize yourself before going to the gym)
    6. go to the gym and get the best workout of your life
    7. go home after the workout and take a shower(Optional: take some quick high proteïn food to prevent muscle soreness)
    8. go to sleep
EDIT: if you know your gym is full of people in the evening then go before dinner if possible, results may be different but not going at all is much worse.

And the best time to workout if you workout 2 times is both morning and evening. I at times workout 2 times. Mostly I workout in evening but workout the time you feel right except afternoon and night.

      Nour Is Hana
That's normal because your working out on a empty stomach ( which is known as Fasted Cardio ) and you're body is using the carbohydrates from the night before and also your body fat to supplement energy, like mentioned above. But make sure you drink some water a couple of minutes before you start your workout. But if you do feel nauseous, you should stop and drink water.

Great video!! I myself I workout when ever I feel like to. especially when I skip my morning workout... There is no excuse not to workout. Atleast few push-ups as I'm obsessed with push-ups.

Morning because I get it done, I feel ready for the day and after the day is done, I'm tired from work and I don't want to deal with waiting in a crowded gym.

I personally prefer lifting weights in the morning because i am totally fresh and have enough energy in my body, but i prefer doing cardio in the evening as i enjoy running during the sunset LMAO Anyways have a good day and keep grinding hard!

4-7 that's when everyone and their dead relatives are at the gym. My best workouts are when the gym is most empty :D

Heavy or tiresome exercise, evening is the right time as per me because we need our dinner and sleep. Rest is necessary for cure time for the wear and tear of body after exercise. Daytime mostly we work on jobsite, for that we cannot workout in the morning and perform our job in tired state which our bodies needs rest for good results. Alternate days or 3 times a week is the best to excercise as it benefits.

The nice thing is that training at the same time helps the lower levels of the pyramid since routine helps adherence and performance.

Anywhere between 9am-11am works best for me. Beat the lunch and evening rush. Nothing worse than waiting for equipment or having to alter your session because it’s too busy.
