Part 2: In Kuala Lumpur, You can rent a 1000 sq ft apartment for HK$3000-5000, and there are plenty of international, Chinese and Hong Kong restaurants offering delicious cuisine from various countries. You can also hire Indonesian or Filipino domestic helpers, either as full-time or part-time help. The wages are relatively lower compared to Hong Kong. Jaya Grocer supermarket offers a wide range of international food products. Private healthcare standards are similar to Western standards and comparable to those in Hong Kong, but the costs are only about one-third of what they are in Hong Kong.

We love the weather here, mild winters and sunny summers to enjoy the beautiful beaches. Taxes are fair comparing to the free education and health systems. Housing in big cities is high. One million dollars can only get you a basic 3 bedroom old house on 500 sq m lat least 25 km out of town , or a two bed room apartment a bit closer to town. If you go to a non major city, like Cairns in Queensland one million dollars may get you a 4-5 bedroom Morden house on 800 sq m land 5-10 km out of CBD.

it doesn't matter where you live, the important thing is to take pride in your roots, your culture and your identity. What 's not right is when people who were born Chinese and yet refuse to acknowledge that they are Chinese; thinking that by discriminating against their own kind would make them a better "class" of human beings. That is the most despicable form of ignorance and this is what gave rise to a generation of "self-hating" Chinese in HK.

Interesting, ma'am! I'm a Canadian citizen, and I'm now living in UK. For me, I would prefer UK. I myself have an obsession with British Culture. Although salary in UK is likely less than in Canada, the living cost in uk is less than in Canada (excluding London maybe). So in UK, I can get much easy to afford my life than in Canada! At least, I can buy a house by my income in UK. If I'm still staying in Vancouver/Toronto today, I'm afraid that I'd still be unable to buy a house til now even if I'm working 2 full-time jobs at same time! I have no ideas why many young people are still choosing Canada. The living cost there are super high, and finding a good family doctor is super hard! And. I don't choose US also. I can't live in a place with high rate of crime, hot weather, and crazy left cultures/idealogies.
You know, there are no utopian cities in the world, and all cities have their pros and cons. Just choose a city that suits you most. If I could go back to the past and choose again, if I can forget all politics, I rather stay in HK, to be honest! Hong Kong is ready beautiful! But right now, it's definitely a hard moment for people who are still choosing to stay in HK. Even you can ignore all politics, but I'm afraid that you can't evade to face the risks on difficult circumstances, such as international sanctions against HK/China or the war on Taiwan Strait. A rumor said that our great emperor Xi is agressively planning to take over Taiwan militarily, and many evidences have proved that he is likely preparaing for it and he would take action in coming years. If he ready sends troops and explodes the war, do you think that Hong Kong would still maintain in peace in the view of geopolitic? If this war doesn't happan eventually, it would be super great! But, if it ready happens, what would you do? I hope you'll evaluate all risks and take a wise decision, otherwise you'll be sorry for it.
If you're looking a good place for giving your a good quality of life but you don't like US/UK/Canada/AUS/NZ, I'll suggest you to look at Malaysia! I'm now looking at Malaysia. Culture is closer to HK, foods there is so good, and I found so much funs there! I'm considering to relocate to there for my retirement in the future. I think it may be good place for you because Malaysia schools (international Schools) needs more English teachers like you. Think about it! Thank you!

I take exception to your suggestion that Malaysia is an ideal destination of migration for families with young children. My primary concern lies in how the education system is conducted primarily in regionally-specific language (Malay) as opposed to a more world-applicable lingua-franca (like English). Even if you send your children to an international school conducted primarily in English, if the environment is primarily composed of people whose speech is so heavily accented, children who grow up in such an environment will be stunted for international work.

Its around $3500-4000 monthly in LA for a nanny. If you have young children, babysitting is a big headache in US but other than that, everything is better for myself and my family. I'll choose US for sure but it's really hard to get a green card in US unless your parents claim you or your already have one. Therefore, going to US is not an option unfortunately

this is a sensible and neutral video. not overly praise one while downgrade the other one, so thumbs up on that point.
I can only compare edinburgh and HK: so below is some of my views, please note this is only my personal experience. and just FYI purpose to anyone who is considering coming over.
Personally I think UK is not for everyone, actually I have seen so many HKers struggling with financial, weather adaptability, housing and etc, but since they sold the house in HK, they have to keep going forward, on the one hand, one could praise them for being brave and persistent, on the opposite angle, one may ask, is HK (your life) is really that bad that you have to uproot and start all over again? and suffer unnecessarily, but i guess only the person can answer that.
I live in scotland, communication is not a big problem for me, what I am hesitating is the weather, the transportation, the bills and the variety of foods, not to mention the accessibility of medical assistance. NHS is a contributory scheme, it is not like it is a total free service (as in HK), i always joke to my HK friends, to be able to see a GP is as hard as to meet the UK royals. and the GP you gonna get, whether it can help you or not, depends very much on your luck. so far my experience has been disappointing. in HK, if you have the means (middle class/average) , you can go private and get the best care within your affordability, at least you got another choice, in UK, utilizing private practice is astronomical that is only reachable for the "rich".
The second one is the transportation, it is extremely expensive, with 2 pounds per trip and cap at 5 pounds per day, that is HKD50.00 a day. It is very time consuming to go from one place to another, the bus here which is 7 out of 10 times isnt on time, delayed is a common everyday occurrences, transport time (the bus circle and circling every little alley and street to accommodate passengers), bus here with 40+ stops is normal. A good way to train your patience. :)
The electric bill here is simply ridiculously expensive, i dont get why government has to tax people for using basic necessities? as if the bill isnt hefty enough. The weather, in Edinburgh, gloomy days/colder days (no sunshine) are more than sunny days, but that is also expected cause one must have done their homework before coming over right? but still when one actually and physically has to brave the strong wind and rain (it rains a lot here) just to do some grocery shopping is exhausting. and yet again, it leads us back to the electric bill, heater is an extravagant commodities here. be warned. :)
Variety of food here is of course no match for HK, even if that is also to be expected, but that doesnt mean one cant "be disappointed".
The basis expenses for a person (excluding rent) is expensive electric bill, council tax (which average to hkd1000/month), transportation, food and misc. should be taken into consideration.
on the plus side, life is slow (if you like slow life) not much excitement, but a lot of greens, air is cooler and the locals are friendly, save a lot on unnecessary shopping too because there just isnt much things for you to shop and buy. personally for me, if i am still holding a job in HK, i would never settled in UK, salary here is peanut and the tax is appalling. how can one save enough to have a good retirement is a puzzle.
in summary, i guess, it all comes down to one's expectation and needs, just dont 100% believe when KOLs told you UK is a heaven and HK is S**hole cause it is not, every city has its own pros and cons, Taiwan has its shortcomings too, i must add.

I've lived in Seattle for 7 years, went back in HK for 10 years, and now living in the UK since 2020. However, HK is not safe to live now, both US and UK have their pros and cons. Probably I'd say Canada is best for both world where you can get universal health care like in the UK, but much quieter and less hectic, and closer to the US. US/UK ties in second place. Australia/NZ are not for me though.

I know it's extremely difficult to immigrate to US but if you can, you should seriously consider. The salary in US is quite high and the work pressure is a lot less compared to HK. I am sorry to mention but I noticed US people are not very hard working, so the chance of promotions for hard working Chinese are very fast and at least in my case when I worked as a certified public accountant. The competition is a lot less due to lots of opportunities everywhere. The best of all is the future of your kids. If they are smart enough, they can go to any college and their future are a lot brighter. With low income families, the government basically paid for most of their college tuition with grants, work studies and subsidies. High level software engineers in CA make $300K+ a year as starting pay right out of college in US but it's not that common in other countries and both my kid and my niece belong to that category. Even accounting degree from UCLA makes $100K+. It's just wonderful.

    一直討厭要客人比貼士,價格應已包含所有費用,明買明賣,一定要比10%點解唔將售價打大10%,然後你公司分返比僱員…係要搵人客嚟搞

Sometimes when people don't want to talk to you they just speak "Fucglish." I don't think language is a big problem once you get past a certain proficiency... and then it's the content, and the willingness to communicate, that matters.
