Game 2 became an epic Swedish match although we lost. Unfortunately I was only 11 in -84, do not remember this tournament but have read about it afterwards.
@@chevydryden4508 Larry Robinson was a big, over-sized slob. The players that did not get invited: Scott Stevens, Pat Riggin, Potvin, MacInnis and Reinhardt were not considered and those folks had excellent seasons and excellent playoffs. Riggin was top goalie by a long shot. Reinhard would have been a huge addition to this team.
@@jimturner4937 haha you re a bit childish Robinson won 6 stanley cups 2 norris trophies he was great...take your bias and uniformed remarks back to your potty
Some of it is also familiarity or ability to mesh with other players. Riggin was lucky to have Langway and a defensive system. At that time, Fuhr was considered the best and the only one ever mentioned in the same level was Liut who'd been burned in 81. Smith was not in their class. You have three forwards from the Oilers; so you bring defensemen who are used to playing with them and also are all in their primes. They are also familiar with Sather's system. Coffey belonged there no matter what; Robinson was still a top class two way defenseman. Bourque needs no mention. Bossy teamed with a teamate makes sense. Apparently Lowe was still good enough for Mike Keenan ten years later.

I was at this game...lucked out on tickets at the last minute
It's painful to watch Gretzky diving. Too much of that back then.
Crosby learned well
Where was B-Å Gustavsson?
Injured. It's mentioned during the game.
Half of Team Canada is Oilers and Islanders.
And Larry Robinson held the team together

With Huddy and Lowe on the team you have a problem with Robinson ?

Sweden goals 19:07 , 1:26:48
Low quality hockey. Choppy. 1987 CC finals were the best!
