I’m so glad the Disney Renaissance happened during the late 80’s and early 90’s. That era brought the world movies and also life lessons that will last lifetimes after we’ve completed our journey in the Circle of Life.
I cannot believe that this movie was literally unbeaten number one around the world till Frozen. Frozen is NOTHING compared to this. This movie is the best hands down.
Frozen isn't nothing, in fact it's definitely one of the more interesting interpretations of sibling vs sibling in fiction, as both siblings in Frozen are flawed in some way, and both have to learn from each other in order to grow. But of course, I do like Lion King more and has more complex themes that become more complex the more you analyze it. But regardless, I'm just saying that even though Lion King is higher doesn't mean everything else is just garbage. At least in terms of Disney films
"We are all part of something bigger than us, that we all belong and that our time here is brief but that our impact can be everlasting, if we would stay part of that circle of life" This is so true!
ki kit so in a nutshell I considered that Kimba Japanese and the lion king American and so as Rafiki said it’s in the past and as Elsa says “ Let it go !!! “
This movie has so much meaning to me. I saw this when it came out with my dad not knowing that it would be the last time I'd see him again. I'm 31 now and it's been 26 years since I've seen him.

TLK is definitely top tier Disney film of all time nobody can convince me otherwise, the movie brought me so much joy in my childhood I would replay it over and over again so much I broke the tape lol. I loved it so much, and even more as an adult the meaning behind it and how it helped me cope w. loss and knowing we all are not here for eternity but we got to make things worthwhile in life and never run away from anything.
I remember to this day when my dad bought me the VHS tape of this movie, I don’t remember exactly how old I was but I remember the moment when he gave me the VHS. I watched it so many times as a kid and watching it now as an adult just makes me really emotional, i can’t help but cry throughout the entire movie. It’s a shame how Disney have become a woke corporation and has lost its magic but I’ll be forever grateful to them for making this movie. The Lion King is a masterpiece and it marked my life.
Same, friend. I remember when my parents bought teh VHS for this movie for me and my young sister when were kids in Nigeria in 99. Still one of my favorite movies of all time😌😌 Sad disney has lost their way.
After watching this and after watching YMS's commentary on the 2019 version, I can tell that despite the lesser budget, everyone involved in this movie-the writers, the directors, animators, actors, and the songwriters and composers knew what they needed to convey. Watching this made me admire everyone involved in this movie for giving it love and care, and I know this has been said billions of times already, but this has more heart than the 2019 movie. This is exactly why animation is a powerful medium to tell compelling stories with relatable and mature themes, and current Disney should realize that.
I mean, that's an over reaction. I only just watched it 24 hours ago at the time of this comment, and...well I didn't like it. IMO it felt like a soul less cash cow remake. The original, is the best, again IMO, forever.
I discern The Lion King’s connection to Hamlet, but the analogy to Joseph’s story is absolutely brilliant. Hadn’t occurred to me until now. Simba’s exile, as well as interactions with Mufasa’s spirit, also bring to mind The Tale of Genji
I was 4 years old when this masterpiece was released and when I saw it in a local cinema and all I wanted was a Zazu plush afterwards. Without Internet it was hard to find and my parents called more then 10 toy stores to find one! I still own it for almost 24 years now.
He’s a great character! As the viewer grows older, I think their respect for Zazu grows. He’s extremely respectful and caring, and always pushes for the best outcomes for everyone. That’s a sweet story
I have a special connection with The Lion King because I was 1 1/2 years old when it was first released and a couple of weeks after, my grandfather died from complications of a stroke. As a kid, I didn’t like The Lion King because I always cried every time I watched the scene where Mufasa dies. It so happens that this year is the 25th anniversary of the movie’s release and my grandfather’s death and roughly two months before the remake came out, my dad passed away from cancer. The Lion King was one of my dad’s favorite Disney movies.
Although I like a lot of different things, I'm a true fan of the Lion King. As a kid watched this movie 3 times back to back with my sister (and of course idk how many time later on). We went to all the re-releases (3D and remake) in the movie theater. When I went to NYC for a week, yup-I had a Broadway ticket to the play. When visiting Disneyland Paris: I took a freaking selfie with Rafiki and ate in the hakuna matata restaurant (my friends could understand). And the fun part of it all? My sisters kids always try to impress me when they saw the lion king more than the other, or when they drew Simba etc. haha this movie resonates with everyone because it’s about the theme we are all in and can’t escape from, the circle of life.
This fucking movie makes me cry every time. Best Disney movie to ever come out of them, timeless classic with a timeless theme and timeless music. Disney Renaissance was truly amazing to witness.

Awesome Behind The Scenes Look Of Disney's The Lion King. My All Time Favourite Disney Animated Movie Since Disney's Frozen In 2013 And Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets In 2002 And Of Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame In 1996. Thanks Mate. X

It´s crazy now, knowing that the A-Team at Disney dont wanted to work on that movie because they thought it´s going to be a B-Movie. So Lessons Learned: only if a plot and the included characters are seeming weird somehow, does not mean that the movie can not be a big success!
I also believe that Chosing Elton John for Music Direction was one the greatest moves by Disney and it had played a Major part in the success of the movie. I just had to add that comment here folks again and again.
'This place is unlike any other place on earth'. What kind of daft expression is that? Of course it's unique, it's Africa! Same goes for Australia. The landscapes are so different from other places on earth, the flora and fauna is unique, have some of the most unique and beautiful animals, flowers and trees and waterways, the minerals and deposits and gemstone composites are unique. Africa is not the Circle, but the Cradle of life!
I'm still hopeful some company, maybe not Disney, but someone will bring hand drawn animation back, because I definitely want to make my own animal film one day that's all classical hand drawn.
Seriously my favorite movie ever. I was slightly bummed out that they were so heavily lent on the whole Biblical thing (being atheist and all). But still, epic movie and seriously childhood shaping. I love this movie no matter what.
Tal Lowengart well regardless the religion, all of their stories have a mythic element to it that makes the stories larger than life. Just look at epic myths like Iliad or Gilgamesh. Still awesome stories, but without the spiritual elements or Devine elements the stories may lack a quality that makes these stories epic. Maybe the ideas of fate, the unknown, or something greater than ourselves will always grab us and inspire us to be just as great if not better. At least in my opinion, but of course I am religious
I don't think they meant that in an evangelist sort of way. Frankly speaking, many Bible stories and parables hand down evergreen wisdom that doesn't require any religious conviction to enjoy or learn from. They have interesting motifs and symbolism, and tell us much about the time they were made, just like any other story.I'm an atheist too (or agnostic, I suppose), and I enjoy reading up on and analyzing bible stories and their meaning. That doesn't mean I believe in them, or want anyone else to believe in them.
Was a genius idea for them to make a spiritual successor to Bambi for a new generation. Bambi was the movie that turned Osamu Tezuka into a furry, it had an uncanny signifigance... furries in the chat know whats up
Honestly the uncle aspect isn't all that Shakesperean, it's in many stories all the way back to Set and Horus in ancient Egypt, the more Shakespearean element is Henry V who just wanted to party and didn't want to deal with the responsibilities of being a king until he finally wises up.
I'm sickened, like actually physically sick that Disney would dare to remake this beautiful epic classic. They've gone too far. I heard now they're making a new The Little Mermaid. I mean, really?!?!
I love the lion king your deleted scene where simba decides to return should be in it but mufasas ghost should be in it too (witch it is) I love all lion king stuff in it is love u guys for making it I'm 10 going on 11 and I am grateful for u guys making it 😃😊😆😄

I wish they would make the lion king mufasa is more and more of a grand king scar very rough not very sleek but very wrinkled simba as a cub is smart clever sensible curious and adventurous spending much of his time learning the ways of a king simply envisioning what life is good
They should have shown the movie to the people of Kenya after, maybe a little hard back in 94, no laptops etc but... Great movie my all time favorite maybe alongside brother bear❤ Amazing music, really nice morals and just very well put together!🫶🏼👏🏻🙌🏼💯
IT'S ABOUT MAKING THE FLIM ABOUT BRAVEST STRONGEST RUFFEST TUFFEST COURAGEUS, WORK ALONE THOUGHT HUNT ALONE, LEARN ALONE, FIGHT HARDEST ALONE AND FIGHTING BACK ABOUT LIVING DIEING ALIVE AND GETTING REVENGE

Snow White is definitely a crowning achievement since it’s pretty much the cornerstone of the Walt Disney Company.
This should be in Disney Plus
This movie is the best ever ever ever, i looove it
I wanna be an animator

I wish they would make the lion king mufasa is more and more of a grand king scar very rough not very sleek but very wrinkled simba as a cub is smart clever sensible curious and adventurous spending much of his time learning the ways of a king simply envisioning what life is good
Pure genius art ❤️🙏🏻
They should have shown the movie to the people of Kenya after, maybe a little hard back in 94, no laptops etc but... Great movie my all time favorite maybe alongside brother bear❤ Amazing music, really nice morals and just very well put together!🫶🏼👏🏻🙌🏼💯
That were the times when Disney was magical
IT'S ABOUT MAKING THE FLIM ABOUT BRAVEST STRONGEST RUFFEST TUFFEST COURAGEUS, WORK ALONE THOUGHT HUNT ALONE, LEARN ALONE, FIGHT HARDEST ALONE AND FIGHTING BACK ABOUT LIVING DIEING ALIVE AND GETTING REVENGE
When I look at this, it just makes me even more angry that the 2019 version exists.
I wish they would make chumvi is a male lion cub chumvi is very smart and clever sensible playful adventurous and tojo is a lion cub to be perfect and doesn't get hurt he is smart and not willing to help not somewhat pessimistic not lamenting they made their first appearance
that touched my heart
make simba relax stright great good character
I wish they would make mufasa's spirit

Is Thomas Schumaker related to Joel Schumaker? I'm too lazy to look it up myself
lion king was sad and happy
12:06 - 12:08 What? Why wasn't "Oliver and Company" mentioned? It's a movie about animals
good question
