🇺🇸 Wish we could get back to civil discourse vs violent disobedience. I wish some of the imagery had been vetted more, before release. It has caused quite a stir in the US. CMT(Country Music Channel) has refused to air the video. I think there is a great message to be told, but I am not 100 on the imagery. Loved and wished there was more of the farmer, at the end. That short bit, was the most powerful of the whole video. Your reaction was very well done, thoughtful and diplomatic!

Living in a small town in Tennessee, his song is very reflective of the thoughts and comments expressed by many when they see what is happening on the news. The police and military are respected and our neighbors. Their patrol cars are driven home and parked in their driveways. Destroying property, injuring others, and crime are not tolerated. Most of the fire departments are volunteers. He is simply echoing what are common statements. Bystander’s would intervene before the police were even called. Living in rural small towns we do not have the luxury of depending on the few officers on duty. Who our friends and neighbors. What we see on the news offends us. Thus the saying try that in a small town.

Short story>>>(USA from a small town)
I can remember when the Hell Angles (biker club) was growing and trying to take over the Northwest (Oregon and Washington state) They came into a small Logging town in Washington and the bikers went into the bar and tried to take it over. All the towns' people left the bar. The biker's heard some noise and ran outside to see their bikes being cut in half (cut by the loggers, with their nice big, long chainsaws) or thrown in the lake. The loggers informed the bikers that this was the way they played>>>
The bikers left and NEVER came back.
If you ever hear "You are not from these here parts is you' while you're in a small town...They are giving you the invitation to leave.

I live in the country in Iowa. My closest 3 towns don't have a population of 1500 people COMBINED. That farmer's story happens every year! Someone will get injured, sick, or pass away. But the crops still need harvested! So farmer's from miles around will show up with their own equipment and get those crops in. It's not something they ask for, it's offered and even insisted upon! And other people will bring food to feed those people helping out! Small town folk don't always get along with each other, but if something shady tries to come into our small towns, these same people will band together to keep the bad influences out! This song has been said to be racist and to provoke violence. Personally, I see it as the opposite. All the clips in the video are from news footage. They don't point to any 1 race. They show them all! Men and women on both sides of the riots. Both antagonizers and protectors. And i feel this is a call for communities to come together and take care of each other. And the best thing that has come from this... they tried to cancel him out... instead the song has gone viral and the message is being heard far and wide! Great reaction! Thank you!

  • @kevingrover1554
    @kevingrover1554 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Kudos to you, Sir. You "Really" get it. While some others talk about how he's saying that he, "Would get you if you tried it in his town", you actually caught the message about how small towns won't stand for it. Example: You spit in a cops face in a big city and they do nothing. Do it in a small town and you will be arrested for assault.
Others talk about how he says he's, "Got a gun that my grandpa gave me". That's not saying he's going to shoot you. He's saying how they talk about rounding up guns and gun control - in big cities that might fly but it won't work in a small town. I actually know some people in small towns who have reported their guns lost and stolen so that if the government DOES try to take them, they will still have theirs. This isn't so they can shoot everyone, it's so they can defend their family, their city and their own.
Again, thank you for giving an honest viewpoint that actually shines light on the true meaning of the song.

It is simple. FAandFO. The Kenosha riots ended when a group of concerned fed up citizens decided they had had enough after two nights of unrestricted destruction and assaults and went in after a business called for help they came armed and stood against the rioters without doing anything more being there standing between them and property doing first aid and putting out fires. When they targeted Rittenhouse who ran from them, and they cornered him he defended himself.
And the riots in Kenosha were ridiculous because they rioted because they could not wait for the facts to come out in the justified shooting of Jacob Blake (they went with the edited media footage which did not show the fight the tasing or the knife) Jacob who ignored an AVO and when the police turned up to arrest him because of the open warrant for SA he ignored multiple orders to stop he ignored at least 2 tasers he fought with the police he drew a knife and then proceeded to try and get into a car that did not belong to him that had 3 children in it armed with that knife. So he got himself shot. He survived but is in a wheelchair and what l find disgusting is that he got 27 million in damages for something that was his fault.
The riots ended after the Rittenhouse incident and any complainers reverted to noisy but nondestructive protest.

Hi Hap, I've watched your videos for years and always appreciate your thoughtful takes and diverse song selection, but IMO this song goes so far over the line. Setting aside the nice but unrelated footage of people in a small town helping farmers in need (as if people in big cities don't help each other out too), please take a moment and look at this song for what it is. The lyrics and video depict rioters attacking police officers and burning cars, but what don't we see? We don't see any footage of peaceful protests (BLM was the largest protest in US history and tens of millions of people participated). We don't see the footage of police assaulting peaceful protestors, like they did in my city. And we don't get any mention of the police brutality against unarmed black people, which is the reason people are protesting in the first place. All this, while Jason sings that he has a gun and tells people to "try it" in his small town. To anyone who's even a little familiar with politics, the message of this song is so clearly against efforts to end police brutality or advance black civil rights. You often say to let the music do the talking. This is the music talking.

This is a song and video done in a realistic approach. The city for instance detroit where I am is big alot of negative things going on not enough police and very lenient with the laws. The city is a cry for help. No nothing here would be acceptable in a small town where I'm sure it's not all perfect but there are rules, laws and communities of people willing to do their best to be there for each other when situations exist.

Interesting how the GOP bought the song and paid to have it played on all the radio stations sending it to number one. It's very political.

Please give me n us proof of that. Your the one that made this song political so bring it. Most us didn't see politics here nor racism.

Jason Aldean is one of many Patriotic country singers. Unfortunately, this video is being deemed racist. When you read the comments, that is what a majority of the comments were in reference to. The imagery is real , these things happened! Now, we're sensitive to it? Its Reality. My son is a police officer, and I worry for his safety every single day because of this. Great reaction Hap, as always.

Hes not country, hes from the city. Rich family. He thinks he country now since he has money and bought a farm. But he never will be a country guy. But he speaks the truth. Hes just left out of the situation.😂

Your point is what exactly? I'm not from a small town but the message of this song really resonates with me.

He actually does live in a small town. I've been to his home. Plus he grew up in a small town. But not knowing is all good. ❤
