Journey was one of THE bands in my youth. I learned to play guitar in late 70's early 80's, listening their first couple of records. Songs called "Topaz" and "Kohoutek" were played constantly for my parents delight...heh. I'd say Neal to be the biggest inspiration to my own playing. Then they got Steve in vocals and the rest is history. I'd say there's two Journey, one before Steve and one with Steve. I love both. Steve is one of the male voices ever in music. Journey had so many super songs, this is one of those. And band really shines in live concerts. Cheers! 😎 TTKIng
What a fantastic Song, Vocals % overall Live Performance! Super Reaction from you as always dear Sabina! Your smile and joy always is wonderful to watch.. 😊👍
I was fortunate to see Journey three times in concert, once on this same tour, only in California. One of the best rock bands of the 1980s. Steve Perry was known as "The Voice" for a very good reason.
My dad (rest in peace) was from a way older generation. He hated modern music (60,70's) but he heard this song and said he had a good voice. From that old geezer, quite a compliment.
For me, an iconic song from my past. I always enjoyed the clear vocals as well as the sublime bass line running through the song. Great song that sits nicely in my mind.
Journey with Steve Perry, the voice, were simply perfect in this formation and always better live than in the studio. Steve always sings with full intensity and his stage presence and charisma are simply incredible. His feet always move to the beat and you can literally feel his voice. The “Escape” concert was great, make sure you see more of it. “Mother, Father” is a masterpiece. Absolutely worth seeing “faithfully” the video is so beautiful and underlines the song. And also “When you love a Woman” so beautiful
Steve Perry in his day was untouchable. His range, clarity, and emotion are broad and rewarding. My recommendations would Separate Ways and secondly Faithfully. They would talk to your soul. Great reaction. 🎉
Saw them live on this tour. Lots of hits. Not a bad song on this album. I'd say "Faithfully" would be the next best song to do from the follow up album. Another power ballad that impresses. Journey didn't invent the power ballad, but they caused the wave of them to get started.
Great reaction. Yes I have seen Journey live 19 times so far. Most with the two singers after Steve Perry. There will never be another “Voice” like him ever again. Brad Delp of Boston and Freddie Mercury are close but Steve will always number one to me. Freddie Mercury Of Queen even called Steve Perry the greatest. That’s incredible praise. I’m not sure there is a bad Journey song especially not one Perry, Cain and Schon wrote together. They were magical together. I would have to say “ Separate Ways” ( my personal favorite) or “ Faithfully “ next. Hope you go down this rabbit hole. Perry’s most incredible voice performance would have to be “ Lay It Down “, “Still They Ride” or “ Happy To Give”.
I saw Journey a couple of times. I'm in central California so Journey was a local band for me. I have to say, your reaction model is, hands down, the very best on this platform. Thank you so much for your obvious respect for the performers, preservation of their artistic creativity and allowing your audience to experience an uninterrupted presentation. You stand alone in quality.
Journey is so awesome! Steve Perry is known as "The Voice" and I think you can see why! Check out Faithfully and Sherry. This is quite the rabbit hole. Love your reaction!!
Hey there Sabina! Yes! Journey!! Steve Perry (lead vocalist) is simply known as "The Voice". Such an incredible rock band - I saw this tour live in Oakland at a "Day on the Green" concert (with Tommy Two Tone, The Tubes, Toto, and Santana) - one of the best concerts I've ever experienced. Yes, this is very typical Journey - their energy, depth of musicianship, stage presence, and sheer power is legendary. I suggest "Mother, Father" or "Who's Crying Now" from this same Houston concert, or "Faithfully" (have tissues handy for this one) their official video. You can never go wrong with Journey whatever you listen to. Thank you for your reaction - love watching you!! Happy 2025! xo
Saw them in Kansas City on the Escape tour ( I believe this is from the same tour in Houston ). I saw them once more with Perry & recently with Pineda whom they found in the Philippines.
Sabina....Journey with Steve Perry was absolutely amazing live in the 80's I saw them with Bryan Adams as their warmup act that day. If you really want to get an even better taste of his vocal range check out Mother, Father from that same 1981 Houston concert. He was incredible that night! I know you reacted to some videos from The Warning a while back. Do yourself a favor and check them out live and in person. They have dates in Europe later in the year starting in April. They have tightened up their shows alot since you did them earlier! They're phenomenal now.
Sabina, I really enjoy and appreciate that you do not interrupt the music. ❤ You are quickly becoming my favorite. Give his Oh Sherry a try, another great Journey song.
Excellent reaction. About 40 years ago, my girlfriend at the time talked me into seeing Journey, a band I thought held no interest for me. However, upon hearing Steve Perry's vocals, that quickly changed. This video is a totally legit example of what Steve Perry's live vocals sounded like.
It's a one two punch Perry's vocal followed by guitar or synth. It knocks you out. Try Mother Father some time. Perry called it his most challening vocal
Great reaction! Journey has a vast catalog. I would recommend Mother Father (Houston 1981 Live), Sweet and Simple, and Faithfully (official video). 😊 🎶 🎵
Do a reaction to the rest of there songs, Journey with lead singer 'Steve Perry " live in Houston 1981. they sound even better live " Stone in Love " Girl Can't Help it " Open Arm's " Who's Crying Now " Mother Father " Escape " Stay Awhile " Steve Perry is called ( The Voice ) he is one of the best singers in Rock History.
He is called the Voice for a reason.
Steve Perry is a legend. And no matter how many times I hear this song, I always get goosebumps.

I was a freshman in high school when this came out, all the girls were smitten with Steve Perry. I saw them on this tour, great show.
I saw this tour in Memphis just about a week before this performance in Houston. They're phenomenal live!

One of the few bands that actually sound better live check out Journey Mother Father and Open Arms live in Houston the vocal acrobatics are incredible
It's a one two punch Perry's vocal followed by guitar or synth. It knocks you out. Try Mother Father some time. Perry called it his most challening vocal
My 1st time seeing them live Steve Perry and Greg Rollie on keys, late 70's for 6 bucks. Loved the band since until Steve left.
Greg was part of Carlos Santana’s band.

Does working with them on the sound count as seeing them?
Whom ever told you to start with this song, was an idiot. You start with the 'infinity' album.
It's not fair how beautiful you are Sabina 💕
And now, Tony Soprano is dead.
You might be the only person in the world who never heard this song.
Dr Sabina who can change your life and make you a new person and she's after your cash to request songs for her to nod her head at eh why?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The band was formed by to members of the original Santana
