  • Hello guys in this beautiful day 🙂
    Today I'm taking myself and you on the tour in Sagres! We will check out local weather, food and much more. I will let you know also about real estate prices here if you want to move here💶
    Little fact dose about the place:
    Sagres is a parish in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, in the southern Algarve. It has 1,894 inhabitants in an area of 34.37 square kilometres (13.27 sq mi).
    Sagres is near the Western end of the world's longest estimated straight-line path over land, at 11,241 km, ending near Jinjiang in the People's Republic of China.
    The name Sagres is derived from Sagrado (holy) Sagres was created in 1519, through the division of the municipality of Vila do Bispo. Until 1834, Sagres was an independent municipality.
    Sagres is located in the extreme southwest of continental Europe, and marked by two structures: the Cape St. Vincent and Sagres Point.
    Exposed to the Atlantic Ocean, it is influenced by Mediterranean currents,with high cliffs between 60-200 metres.
    Weather in Sagres:
    Mild winters and warm to very warm summers. Temperatures are very moderate year round. November and December are the rainy months.
    Similarly to other locations in the Algarve lot of marine fogs, which rises the average relative humidity to around 80%. [WK]
    Sagres because of discovery of the African coast and beginning of Atlantic navigation of Portuguese always was associated with discovering the world🌏
    Cabo de sao Vicente:
    Europe’s southwesternmost point is a 6km northwest of Sagres centre and that was the last piece of home that Portuguese sailors once saw as they launched into the ocean.
    Sagres beer is not made in Sagres. It is made in Vialonga. In 1968 The Vialonga Brewery became the biggest beer manufacturer in the country, the only one with a malt factory, and one of the most modern breweries in Europe.
    The Sagres brand was launched in May 1940, as an export beer, at the famous Portuguese World Exhibition, in Lisbon. Its name comes from the town of Sagres.
    And I saw this quote in Sagres beer website:
    In a country full of sun, a beer is not a drink, it is a tradition. 🫡
    So if you want to live here:
    The place is small and for long term rent I found only 4 places - only single apartment with 1 bedroom was for 950euros per month, 2 bedroom townhouse for 1500 euros per month, 3 bedroom villa for 4300 euros per month and 2 bedroom apartment for 1600 euros per month. So I cannot give you average price for rent in here, from only 4 properties.
    For buying however I saw one, one bedroom apartment for 200k but average price for this place with mostly luxury villas is 4600 euros per square meter. So if you get 100 square meter house it will set you back around half a million.
    All other expenses is about the same like in other parts of Portugal. You can check out my other video where I talk about food, transportation.
    One big store is Intermarche, and couple small mercados. Really chilled out place. I think Sagres don't have hospital or clinic.
    So enjoy Sagres and stay tuned!!!🙂🖐

    Boa tarde Andrejs,
    I love Sagres... in my 3 months living in Portugal, I visited Sagres (and Lagos) twice... taking the long, scenic (coastal) route. It's rugged and raw and beautiful. Those cliffs took my breath away the first time I saw them!! I actually have a photo I took of a car, 2/3 the way down one of those cliffs, caught on an ledge. Crazy!! Hopefully no one was in it. It was upside down,
    I recognize the older fellow in the restaurant. I've only eaten on the other side, in the attached cafe and my goodness the food was delicious over there too!! Ate there twice.
    Obrigada Andrejs, for another great video. Cheers ~

      Ola, boa tarde Jen 🖐🙂
      Wow...crazy story about the car, but since I'm in Portugal I've noticed lot of places where you can go the wrong way if attention is not on the road 😵‍💫
      About food just like I said - I was shocked about quality and taste.
      Thank you for your comment 🙂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    Sagres is a special place, so wild and beautiful, U should go to the Ria Formosa, see Olhão (the cubic city), Fuzeta (with a marvelous beach); Tavira (with their lovely churches and houses, for some the most beautiful city of Algarve) and special Cacela Velha with a marvelous seepoint .
    Alvor betwen Portimão and Lagos have an amazing lagon and a lovely fishing village.
    The inside of Algarve its more quiet but the most for nature lovers, Monchique have a big spa and good pork products and honey, Silves with the mourish red castle, Loulé the best city to eat Algarve sweets, Alcoutim thye princess of Guadiana river.

      @@millionplacesoneworld Hi there, I wish I could say your name but you haven't mentioned it. I am coming to Portugal this coming June. We will not have a car and we will be staying in Lisbon and taking trains and buses. I am wondering if it is possible to get a train to Braga from Lisbon and is there a way to get to Peneda Geres. We want to do it all in the same day, even if we only get a few hours at Peneda Geres.

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @dawnm2647 I haven't been in Braga and Geres park, but from what I see online - there is train from Lisbon to Braga, it takes about 3.5h-4h. If I understand correctly you can go early in the morning or later in the evening. It shows cost for one person is from 35€-51€ one way. Can you do that in one day including Geres park? I'm not sure, since both Braga and Geres are quite big. But I will try to film Braga in coming months and also Geres. I will ask locals and see for myself what's what, deal?
      And my name is Andrew, nice to meet you 🙂🖐

    Fantastic video…again! With recent storms, I bet Sagres would have been a tough place to visit. 😊 So “Sardines taste better than any salmon or tuna.” Really? OK…next time in PT, I’ll make the effort to try fresh sardines. I don’t like the canned variety too much. 👎🏻 This video made me very hungry. 🍽️ 👋🏻

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah , I was in the middle of that storm 😁 Sun, Wind, Rain, Sun again 😁😁😁 But in Cascais and Lisbon area storm was much more with it's presence, came back home and my towel was on neighbours balcony 🤣
      Sardines- I love all sardines , from the cans and fresh, but these were my favorite.
      But if you will try them in bad place, you will be dissapointed, because once I ate in Cascais and it tasted like bitter gruel 🤣
      And as always, big respect for your comments 💯🇵🇹

      @carlossaraiva8213 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Come to eat sardines on the other side of the Tejo River in Cacilhas, they make great sardines there. Remember that Cascais is an affluent place for the rich so a few restaurants there might be a business created by a bored rich kid who has no idea how reall food is prepared.

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @carlossaraiva8213 Just checked out, it is in Almada yes? Is there specific place name where to get them? 😁 I will go straight away next week, I want sardines already 🤣🤣🤣

  • @carlossaraiva8213

    Probably the most fun video you have made. You now eat sardines like a portuguese. You have been assimilated by portuguese culture 😂 Well done.

    Just a correction, he was not responsible for slave trade, that was already happening in africa way before the Europeans arrival.
