The embroidery is a great idea...I hadn't thought of anything so simple. I'm also envious of your pattern matching... it's so satisfying when it comes together so well!
Thanks Laura, I know I never would have thought of the stars without Elisalex, she is so clever. Yes the pattern matching was very satisfying indeed! The makes you have been sharing for Sewphotohop are also very beautiful. I never thought about making the SOI 1940s tea dress before, but now I've seen your version it is on my hit list!
Really beautiful makes. The runaway patter says nothing to me on the picture, but after seeing what you have make with it, I am so looking forward to make it. As I said, beautiful makes, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Alexandra for your kind words. It is so nice to hear you are now planning to make that pattern, I love it when someone's version of a pattern makes you see it in a totally different way, happens to me all the time.
That Simplicity 8330 is GORGEOUS, love the scuba, it looks beautiful on you. The arm finishes look perfect to me, doesn't look to high at all. That Vogue 1395 is very pretty, I need to take a look at that one closer at the store.
Thank Pamela, it is something I've started to focus very heavily on. I've come to the conclusion it is so worth taking the time to get the fit just right if I'm going to be spending time making something. If I'm ever unsure I make a quick toille even for the most simple patterns and it seems to be paying off. I also mess around with seams tapering and taking in where necessary during the making process. I never realised how poorly some of my RTW my clothes fit until I started sewing!
We do send parcels to the US all the time Barbara. If you place the order on our website in the normal way it will calculate the shipping for you. So glad you like the channel, thanks for dropping by!
Love the embroidery it makes such a difference without being to much. What pattern is the red dress as I love that style. love all of the dresses today.
Thanks Julia, yes I think it is lovely and subtle, but definitely makes a big difference. The red dress is Burda 7308, which looks totally different on the pattern packet thanks to fabric choice. You can find it here www.sewessential.co.uk/misses-dress-and-bolero-burda-sewing-pattern-7308 I also wrote a blog post about it here www.sewessential.co.uk/blog/a-red-dress-some-sequins-and-a-bruce-springsteen-moment/ it was only the second thing I ever made so it is written very much from a beginner's perspective, but it might be useful to you.
Hi Elaine, thank you for your lovely comments. There are certainly some tips that really helped me to gain a lot of confidence doing it and get much better results. I made a little video about it a while ago and you can find it here th-cam.com/video/ttU7mr_rBCA/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps.
Love your makes have been a subscriber from the beginning and follow all your videos Really looking forward to new fabric video as it really helps an online fabric buyer Also I am looking to but a pfaff 5.2 wondered if you have used one and can recommend it at all?
Hi Karen, thank you so much for your kind comments, I can't wait to share the new fabrics with you guys either. We are big, big lovers of Pfaff machines here at Sew Essential and I know Angela will have excellent knowledge on the 5.2. She has owned and loved many, many Pfaff machines over the years. Are you in the UK? You could come in for a demo?
I bought a Pfaff 5.2 about 3 months ago and my husband is getting sick of hearing me say how much I love it lol. It's my first Pfaff but not my first machine as I also have a Brother sewing and Embroidery machine (innovis 4000D). 2 Singer machines (Singer One Plus and Quantum Stylist 9980), also Toyota Oekaki machine, 2 Overlockers and an Embroidery only machine. Out of all of them my Pfaff 5.2 is my absolute favourite I can't stop raving about it, so go ahead and buy, you won't be disappointed
Lovely ! Enjoy watching yr Vlogs especially when u show us yr different fabrics and what u think is the best Garment to sew for each fabric. Can u pls add to yr to do list a blog on Sewing machine needes especially for knits . U see u will not believe the chaos that exists out there regarding these needles . Some say jersey / knits need a different needle to stretch material... some say ball point needles r only for knits ....Help ! some say the opposite....Also pls add some of yr goodies like bias binding , tapes etc u have available on line .... will be good to know . Many tks x
Thanks for the brilliantly informative feedback! I will definitely add those things to my to do list and will aim to get them on a vlog soon. Stay tuned!

Found you channel. I love all your make and fabrics. I live in the US so I don’t know how difficult it would be to get fabric.

Love the top and what a beautifully made neck band! Is there a sure fire way of getting these to fit? I just cannot get it.
