Will definitley check this out on my E46. Probably new RTABs and steering fluid change too. Lol: hoons about like Ken Block, ten minutes later gets a flat "how does this happen to me?!"
Cool car. Hope to get one myself one day. Good one going with oem. I actually think it’s a smart design, the rubber prevents axial loading of the column as the car always flexes a bit and reduces vibrations. Embedded in the rubber are wires which are very stiff when taut so the steering feels direct. I think for many a solid one is a massive upgrade cause their oem one is toast like yours.
I definitly need to do this. Hopeing my steering rack isn't trashed. Side question, did you figure out what that idle surging was? Mine does the same thing. Cleaned the ICV and throttle bodies but didn't give much improvement.
Can a bad coupler or shaft cause play with the steering wheel? I have an E90 & replaced rack & pinion, outer tie rods, sway bar link, thinking of changing control arm bushings to possibly fix play in steering so after watching this vid think this could be another cause for the play in steering that I’m overlooking. I always welcome second opinions that I can relay to my mechanic to check out
Great information, I have E90 lost razor sharp , Rubbery resistance steering feel after hitting in depth bridge road gap , I showed it to couple of guys but they are saying it is normal. I know it is not normal. I dont feel like driving BMW, any suggestions please. Thanks.
Great video, I’m actually having problems ordering this part, the company I ordered it from are telling me with the chassis number supplied I need another type, the part is a bit longer and a bit more expensive. I’m pretty sure it’s the part further up the steering column from this part you have shown they are taking about, it’s sort of like a knuckle that rotates type thing.
I installed it and the wheel is off centered a bit. How would I fix it? Do I need to take the coupler out completely and align it with one spline over or can I leave the coupler at the bottom and take the rode and turn the wheel.
If you want to get into it, now is a harder time with the pandemic but I started getting into cars by buying a pos BMW and learning how to work on them with that car for cheap.
Surprised that there's a rubber bushing on an M3 and not a solid link. Btw, did you really torque that? :D Was doing something similar on one of my cars recently and I barely managed to get a small ratchet in there, can't image a torque wrench fitting.
Life hack, just take the engine out and do it. I did, but not bc of it, I just did it while I was in there. Still didn't torque it, just made it good and tight
Bro, I got excited watching you drive your bimmer after replacing that part. Awesome man! Got me all hype!
Never knew this was just a $70 fix. Cheers!
$100 mark up over 3 years is pretty crazy

I love these drifts at the end of the videos!!
Most people: “Ight I’m Boutta Head Out”
Hoon Garage: “Ight let me stop at this stop sign”

Nice m3! I just realized you go to the same school as me. I hope to see your e46 in the parking garage near my e60.
Too bad we won’t be parking in the garage anytime soon🙃
that is 1 mean ass machine and thanks for the help steering coupler was a success for me!
Gave a like for the knowledge and a comment for the tires sake.
That S54 sound though ❤❤❤
Sick asss videos man and that e46 M3 💯💯💯 keep uploading more drift videos please!
Yeahp! Skidding is what killed that steering decoupler 😅
Great video mate, need to have a look at this on my 330ci… would bad couplers explain steering wander/tramlining on uneven roads too? Thanks 👊🏼
Just found your channel and I fucking love it holy shit keep it up bro. And keep safe during this whole shit time!!!
I definitly need to do this. Hopeing my steering rack isn't trashed. Side question, did you figure out what that idle surging was? Mine does the same thing. Cleaned the ICV and throttle bodies but didn't give much improvement.
Did that ever cause ur steering wheel to wander when driving?
Thanks bro, great video
Great video 🤙🏻
That's a beautifull car!!!Cheers👍

It most probably is your steering guibo. You can examine it after removing your under trays.
Thank you very much for your advise. I will ask the mechanic to check specific part. Thanks.

Nice drift

Good luck bro!
Do people see this as well in the V8 E39's with the steering box? I have the same thing happening.
Condor makes a solid one, check it out if ya haven't already. Much better then the rubber style. Great video 👍👍🔥
I thought about it but, this is my daily so I chose oem so the rubber would absorb some of the shock from rocks in the road.
@@HoonGarage 💯would be bumpy af on the road. I run one in my daily drifter but its more for the track then the road. Keep up the great content🔥👌👊

Running that M3 to the ground. Both steering boots long gone
Hi!
What material is the government coated with?
Buddy whats the name of that part??
What cause very hard steering no noise tho unless I lock to lock is weird feels awkward parking and driving it. It feels like a super old car is 2010
Which android unit is that? I want one of the eonon ones but they all have the ugly eonon logo across the bottom and throws it off
Xtrons unit, that’s the exact reason I didn’t go with an eonon unit, you could always paint over it though.
you hear a click , clunk , when you wiggle the steering wheel? i head on mine but no play could it be same part?
Did you figure it out?
Oops! drift + tire = dollars.
There is a false contact on the meters when you put the warning ??
Sorry for the google translation I'm French!
Hello. Was there a knocking sound from the government on the wrong road?
Can this also cause wobble
Is it a 3/8 drive e10 ?
Hey so I’m not a car person and I really want to get into cars and things like that. Are there any good you tubers that teach about that?
If you want to get into it, now is a harder time with the pandemic but I started getting into cars by buying a pos BMW and learning how to work on them with that car for cheap.
Bad idea to torque it down without digital torque wrench?
Click type work just fine
Any opinions about the solid joints that are available?
I heard they add road nvh. I wanted a smooth steering feel which is why I went with the oem joint.
Great for track driving , wouldn't have it for daily, solid bushings make you feel every tiny road defect
@@aaronbligh3619exactly what i want 😂 Strongflex # race car haha
How about the tendency of the steering wheel to move in every pothole. It started doing it at 250 000km
mines also does this... did you fix it?
@@riccardocervetti3203 I think this is a similar problem
Probably shock absorbers mate
What’s the name of this part ?
Great video, and very helpful! Do you have the stock steering rack, or something like CSL one?
Surprised that there's a rubber bushing on an M3 and not a solid link.

Just make sure she's tight with some loctite.

WHAT IS IT CALLED PART NUMBER THANKS
My steering is also like this and it wobbles at 60+mph can that help
Check other components for the wobble and prob needs an alignment
my looks fine but have play in steering.
No spare in the M3?
They don’t😳
Hoon Garage 😳😳
Does it work for E90s?
Yes the E90 coupler is a little different but same instructions roughly.
It looks like u have a torn boot
Why not put strongflex yellow in it ? 😳
4:00 yooooooo
If you live up north this takes 2 days
I can vouch for this statement
❤️
Ohh watch out someone's going to call you a terrible driver because you crossed double yellow.
Epic car
That rack boot ..
Very sad yes...
Man, your steering rack is leaking and the covers are torn.
What is the full name of the car
