This episode is Thrawn’s true introduction for me. That speech he gives not only shows his intelligence, but how he use a certain sense of politeness to hide how truly violating he is. The way he gets in Hera’s space, breaking down her history and her people’s traditions all to get an edge on her is truly disgusting but thats what makes him such a great villain.

the growl was my fav part.. Shows there's a lot of depth to his character ,to be offended like that

    • @kylebooker1987
      @kylebooker1987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

He's polite because he knows what he is doing is incredibly unpleasant for Hera but is still willing to go through with it because he believes it to be necessary. Also his analysis of hera culture and heritage could possibly a very subtle attempt at convincing hera that her disgust towards is not entirely warranted. Thrown is not really a villain. He doesn't know that Palpatine is a Sith Lord. And I think if he did he might have turned against him. Also thrown serves the empire because of threats within the unknown regions where his people the chips ascendancy reside. He chose to join the empire because he believes the empire to be the only faction in the wider galaxy strong enough to serve as an ally against all the dangers of the unknown regions.

Force sensitive beings are born with a connection to the force but that connection has to be maintained and developed. The midichlorians within a force sensitive beings bloodstream determine the strength of their connection to the force. Because the strength of a force sensitive beings connection to the force can vary. BTW kanan's blindness has absolutely nothing to do with how capable he is. Being blind does not make a person any stronger or weaker than they were beforehand. How well they adapt, however, does. The way things like that work is similar to the dynamic of pain vs suffering. Pain has always been and always will be inevitable, but suffering is something we experience as a result of how well we handle pain. If we fall short when it comes to handling and processing pain then we will most definitely suffer. However, suffering is absolutely avoidable. Kanan is as capable as he is because processed and handled his pain very well.

And his hate towards the empire’s xenophobic nature, aka their dislking of aliens, why Thrawn got angry at the captain for one second. But also shows Thrawn’s skill, becoming top 5 in the empire, despite being an alien.

A very memorable and significant episode - and Kanan’s blindness has ultimately (with Bendu’s help) allowed him to tap into his real potential as a Jedi and force wielder. Kanan is right up there as one of my favourite Jedi, and favourite Star Wars characters.

I think there's a very simple reason why Thrawn let Hera go at the end. He already knows that she's a Rebel leader of some importance, and now he's seen her in action, seen how she thinks, seen the lengths she will go to and for what causes she will go to such lengths. This was just a minor skirmish for Thrawn to learn about his opponent. If he kills her, then he'll have to figure out who his new opponent is and how they interact with other Rebel leaders and start all over again. Now that he's had a chance to study Hera (and Ezra as well), Thrawn has a better idea of how they think and how they operate. This was a skirmish, not even a full-fledged battle. Thrawn is more than content to lose quite a few battles if it means that in the end, he will win the war.

Kanan's blindness has forced him to rely on the Force more closely - and you can see that he has stopped hiding as a Jedi and has instead embraced it. This episode, complete with his salute after destroying the walker, is a great example of that.

Thrawn, the GOAT Star Wars villain
But also, Chopper backstory. When you think of him as a war veteran working through trauma, you see him in a whole new light. He’s a war hero across two wars

Right? It really shows the tragedy of Droids being not just slaves, but having their very minds erased periodically... wow.
      That's some dark stuff.
Imagine a world where human slavery takes that turn- erasing identities while preserving skills?

So on the one hand we have Thrawn coming into his own. Supremely talented, willing to use any weakness against the enemy but... also oddly trustworthy. Sure he can beat your every plan seemingly without effort but he's obviously in it to achieve his mission rather than taking any particular pleasure in it.
And on the other hand we get Chopper having his best day ever when he's actively encouraged to channel his inner Sabine! That little astromech continues to wrack up one of the biggest body counts in Star Wars and he ain't done yet! His 'uh oh' when Thrawn walks through the door followed by a quick exit stage left cracks me up every time!

10:09 “that blast” Is what we call a rocket/missile. We call those rocket launchers or bazooka that the rocket projectile ejects from. They’re a heavy ordnance equipment. Different types of rockets are designed to counter specific threats such as aircrafts or armored vehicles. But do have different types of ammunition that can be used against infantry. Some have guided & unguided missiles/rockets.

Kanan is not that powerful a Jedi, but his connection to the Force is at his maximum. After learning from the Bendu, it was the Force that became his eyes. It can be said that even though he is blind, he sees and senses more than others.
    As for Thrawn
You can clearly see what he did here. He recognized Hera and then watched events just to gain experience. He never cared about capturing the general's daughter. He despises those who do not appreciate art.
Thrwn wasn't a fan of Slavin before. He considered him ignorant, without military knowledge.
Thrawn is always calm, but after Slavin says he wants to destroy Kalikori for the first time, he loses control of himself.

The reason Thrawn got so angry at the other officer is because the other officer is racist to aliens, and Thrawn hates that because he's not human. Which, if you notice, he is the only Imperial officer who is not human. The Empire hates aliens, but they let Thrawn be a Grand Admiral because of just how calculating and ruthless he is. So he takes it personally when imperials start bashing other cultures, which he is genuinely fascinated by as well.

Thrawn is facinating in the new storys and in the old books. You can say that the Thrawn books keept Star Wars alive and ignite the fandom with new live. The first book was puplishee in 1991, eight years after the last film, Return of the Jedi. In these years there were only some comics and chldren books, but nothing what would be as good as the movies, storywise. That change with the Thrawn Trilogy, the novel topped the New York Times Best Seller List in Fiction June 30, 1991. After that more and more books for adult readers came out.

He's hyper-competent, has a real presence, is drawn to be not unattractive and, most importantly, has *that* voice. It's a fair reaction, same as everyone having at least a little crush on Catra in the new SheRa Netflix show. May I suggest, once you've finished Rebels, tracking down the audio books of the new Thrawn novels? They deal with his time before coming in to the show and while Lars Mikkelsen doesn't provide the voice Marc Thompson gets bloody close! Plus they're all written by Timothy Zahn who created the character back in the 90's along with a trilogy of novels that more or less single-handedly sparked renewed interest in the Star Wars Extended Universe and whose track record is pretty much spotless.

The Walker here is the prototype of the one in Return of the Jedi.
Thrawn, as the only alien of the Imperial military had gone through his fair share of racism through his studies (as a matter of competence, he didn't really need the training since he was a commander in the Chiss Expansion Force and was very talented already)
Thrawn (Mith'rwan'uruodo by his full Chiss name) is mostly interested by long term goals. He will prefer minor setbacks if that brings him the intell he needs to win in the end.
His weakness: when he lacks a crucial information to win so if you want to win against him, just hide to him the bit he needs... and it's not that easy since he specializes on intell gathering.

There are two parts to the force: The living force and the cosmic force.
Kanan has always been stronger in the cosmic force (he is best in manipulating the environment around himself). Now that he is blind he needs to rely on it even more, even partially to just know that's happening around him so his connection has only increased.
Ezra on the other hand is extremely connected to the living force but not as good with the cosmic force. He is really good at connecting with living creatures (especially other creatures that have a connection to the living force as well), I would even go so far as to say since the middle of season 2, Ezra is more connected to the living force than even Kanan is.

If Kanan hadn't lost his sight and hadn't woken the Bendu, he wouldn't be half as attuned to the Force as he's become/ing.
He's VERY young to have such a grasp on things- the adversity really pushed him forward on the path... he'll be even stronger once he loses his arms and legs...
    Kidding! (Maybe)

Jedi are really not much different in power I would say some are more connected to the force then others only because of their training and Struggles... Kanan If you remember before he was blind his skill level was a little different because he was not as connected with the force as he is now.. Because he has to survive now , to move around and everything... But it did take him a little while to get there and he'll be coming been more powerful/connected as the series goes along same with ezra

I implore you to read Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and Last Command. If you want to know what Thrawn's deal is you will get your answers there. Timothy Zhan also wrote a new Trilogy as well set before this show and tells about Thrawn's rise in the ranks and his working relationship with Governor Pryce.

Jedi have different abilities, some species don't have arms or hands and if one of their kind become a jedi they still use a lightsaber. There was 1 such jedi who practiced being able to wield I think it was 4 lightsabers at the same time even though hes species don't have arms. The ability to see without your eyes is quite common, it just needs to be practiced.

Ngl Thrawn is TERRIFYING when he was pissed. When I was initially watching this season I would see comments from people saying how much of a badass Thrawn is. But because I had never read the original novels I couldn't say one way or another until this episode. And when he started talking to Hera as Hera and then he quickly stunned Ezra, that's when I started to feel concern for the ghost crew
