The egg binds the stuffing. You can add it the day of, just beat really well then add to stuffing mixture, mixing well. I would butter the casserole dish, but if you don't usually, that is how you do, everyone does differently.

Becky, I haven't even gotten to watch this video yet, but I came here to say that you alone in the last couple weeks since I found your channel have inspired me and made me fall back in love with my kitchen. I've been wanting to try canning for months. I tried it this week!!! You have inspired me so much, I've learned so much from you! Canning, preserving, baking, freeze drying, what can be frozen, what can be dehydrated, things to buy in bulk. You are a blessing to me and my family!
Yes! Stuff the bird, and stuffing is with sausage, onion, celery, chicken broth and plain old white bread and the magic happens with Bell’s seasoning. My favorite part is the little crispy end cap when you take the stuffing out of the bird. So good.

I really love your videos. My mom makes her dressing the same way, but adds apple and walnuts, which add great flavor and texture as well. I have been binge-watching your videos and am getting so much inspiration.
Because of you I am going to start freeze drying more... Parm Cheese will never be in a green can in my house again (once we use up the one we have of course), cilantro, all the herbs... GARLIC.. once I grow it. too late for me to start in MN right now.. but next year. Minced onions.., GREEN ONIONS.. which ALWAYS start to go in my fridge.. You are a blessing.. and I hope one day to have my own home/gardening youtube.. and be as graceful as you are everyday. My oldest is 18 and in freshman year in college, and youngest is 16 and almost driving, so I'm a bit ahead of your family schedule. But like you, we waited 7 years (after marriage) to have babies. Anyway, I love your attitude, your grace and joy. And I wish you the best on the whole baby situation. You are right. DO YOU. don't worry about living up to expectations on anything. Babies are HARD, all in very different ways. My first was SO different from my second and still is. GO with the flow! and give yourself the grace to overcome! So happy that you are willing to share your homestead with us!
Tomorrow I’m canning applesauce and raspberry jam! I’ve recently found Pomona’s and you need zero sugar to make jam or jelly! I have about 3 gallons of raspberries frozen and we’ll never use them. I’m a T1D, zero sugar is a bonus. My grandson loves raspberries and this will be great jam. Spend the extra and buy the Pamona’s “sure-jell” instead of the low sugar Sure-Jell since you enjoy more fruit flavor instead of all that sugar. 🌺
No one ever showed me how to cook.. and I kinda learn by watching so you are a life saver! I’ll definitely be able to cook my family’s thanksgiving bc of you! My grandma used to do it but she’s not able to anymore. My mom was never really a cook. My sister cooks but gets overwhelmed very quickly and has a nervous break down 😂 I’m happy I’ll be able to help this year 🥰 Thanks for all you do and for sharing with noobs like me! ♥️🦃
This video as always was ever so fun and I'm so excited to try some of your recipes. I know of a lady that does Thanksgiving for over 50 people and she cooks her bird ahead of time takes it off the bones and puts it in a large roaster and pores turkey broth over it. And like you she does her potatoes ahead of time and so the day of the dinner she really doesn't have to do much of anything. My grandma when she would host a dinner and there was a sit-down she would set the table ahead of time I know people that will set the table ahead of time and then lay a large sheet over it if you have pets. But you are not only sharing amazing beautiful tasteful recipes Becky but you're encouraging us to think ahead and not stress the day of. I have to share a story years ago when I was just Married only a few years I had put a whole chicken in the oven and I was so excited in our new to us home and was so excited to make this wonderful chicken dinner. And as time went on I thought well this is odd the chicken wasn't smelling anymore and it wasn't getting done and then I have found out that my oven had broke. Another time when I was making rice pudding and you put the rice pudding inside of a pan of water and I was hosting Christmas that year I went to lift it out of the oven and the bottom pan of water broke. I had rice pudding with an egg custard exploded all inside my oven all over everywhere. I just remember the tears flowed I had three little ones at the time I was hosting over 25 people for dinner plus children. Got it all cleaned up we were fine. That year I hosted Christmas Eve at my home plus Christmas Day at my home to completely different meals. The one on Christmas Eve was Swedish Norwegian with all the Swedish meatballs and lutefisk and sweet or sausage and all the fixing even fruit soup. Becky you're amazing and blessed is Josh and your precious little bundle that is growing soon will be here. I hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving one Josh's family and just know I don't always comment cuz I watch it on my TV but I haven't missed one of your videos yet. Have a blessed day and much love from Minnesota
It amazes me when I think about my Mom cooking everything from scratch the morning of holidays. I always give myself 2 days with desserts being last on the list to make.I love trying new pumpkin and cranberry recipes each year, but not my family's favorite. Like many families they like the same old casserole. Enjoy Thanksgiving with Josh's family.
When I worked at Kmart I’d make crockpot dressing, cheese plate, veggie tray, pumpkin pie bars. Everyone else made sides or desserts too. We’d order chicken from Krogers and we had a nice luncheon for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hi Becky Sherry here from the Fingerlakes in N.Y. Your dressing you are making is all most the way I make mine. I use Sausage to, but we love cornbread. So it is Sausage Cornbread Stuffing! Yum! I use a ice cream scoop and bake our dressing in a cupcake pan that way everyone gets there own dressing cupcake!
I made the cranberry salsa last year and it was a hit! I barely had any because it was devoured so fast! It’s on my list for this year again. Thanks for all you do!
This is awesome Becky. I’m flying to the US to visit my sister in 2 days and we will be celebrating our first thanksgiving. Being aussies we have no idea, so now I can volunteer to do the desserts. 🎉🎉
Omg Becky I have never clicked so fast I am starting to make My list for thanksgiving making sure I got everything I am curled up on the couch and watching my favorite TH-cam thank you for the inspiration on my own channel Becky 😊
When I make stuffing, I add bouillon powder or cubes to which I add some spices (cloves, pepper, ginger, sage etc, holiday spices), then use this to hydrate the bread/veggies mix and it gets soooo yummy (I don’t at all miss meat or meat broth)! I cook it in bread pans and use it alongside e.g, homemade tofurky or vegan Christmas meatballs since I’m plant based…😋
That stuffing is so close to my mom’s. The difference is she would grind up the turkey liver, heart, and giblets and add them with the sausage. There was a lot of meat in that dressing. She would stuff the turkey with part of it and bake the rest.
You’re my idol and I aspire to live life and value what you do daily. Thank you for simplifying that life isn’t perfect but living a fulfilling and purposeful life is what some of us need! I get so excited for every video you make! All the healthy vibes sent your way for baby and happy holidays! ❤
We always stuff the turkey. Very simple recipe, from my Italian grandmother, just stale cubed bread, onions, sage, salt and pepper. Super simple, but just like you said, it’s such a tradition for us. It absorbs all the juices form the turkey, and is just wonderful. I cannot wait to try your cranberry upside down cake!!! Love, love your videos! Thank you!!
You can put the pumpkin filling into muffin papers in the muffin tins and make mini cheesecakes. Then when cooked top with Graham cracker crumbs and freeze. They you have a treat whenever you want of mini pumpkin cheesecakes. You'll be happy when the baby comes and you have a treat to pull out when you need a pick me up.
We have always traditionally stuffed the turkey for Thanksgiving. The stuffing was basically a loaf of white bread ripped up, eggs, celery, salt, pepper, diced onions and chicken broth. Mix with your hands in a bowl until everything is incorporated and stuff the turkey with it. Any stuffing that doesn't fit in the bird is formed into patties and fried in butter. Then we top it with sour cream (sort of like a potato pancake, but with bread). Super yummy! :)
I loved hearing about your Grandmother's recipe. My Grandmother's is the same, except we use Oysters instead of sausage. I'm the turkey cooker in my family now and I've stopped stuffing the bird. It just made it too dry because you have to cook it so much longer. My Mother in law taught me to hear up the broth before mixing. The bread absorbs it better that way.
I made my Thanksgiving cheesecake already, and froze it. My crust was made using Nilla Wafer cookies. Try it sometime. It’s really wonderful. Love you videos. You make your audience feel included and welcomed. 💕💕
If you do have the pumpkin left over, I love adding it to chili in place of some of the tomato. I have tummy troubles and the lowered acidity I’m the chili is grand, and the flavor is deeper and earthy, not necessarily pumpkin-y.
A little hack I use for setting my cheesecakes is a hot water bath in the oven…it helps them to set and bake faster and that way the top doesn’t burn while the middle is still baking. I learn so much from your videos and love the joy you have when cooking for your family it’s how I cook too! Thanks for sharing! Buen Provecho (means enjoy your meal in Spanish) 😊
We always stuff the bird but we make extra stuffing that we bake. I do traditional stuffing with sausage but I also put fresh cooked mushrooms in with it. Love your channel Becky.
I'm with you about tradition. I always want my Grandmother's cornbread dressing recipe (which is on the back of the Martha White Buttermilk cornbread packet). From my mother in law I love her traditional Cranberry Orange Pecan Bread (from the back of the Oceanspray cranberry bag). I'm going to try your cranberry upside down cake. It looks delicious 🙂
I make cornbread dressing with dried , stale cornbread, celery, onions , sage , poultry seasoning home canned chicken broth. Yummy , been making it for 45 plus years . I am always ask to bring it to our gathering.
That’s the same way I’ve been making it for 50 yrs just like my Mother and Grandmother it’s the way it’s usually always made here in my southern mountain town in East Tennessee 😋
Good morning from South Africa 🙂 I am enjoying watching you cook and bake. What especially got me excited and intrigued is when you went outside. Please show us more footage of the rainy weather and the mist. It's so mesmerizing 🙂
I’m in Maine, stuffing has always been stuffing but never in the bird! I actually first heard the term “dressing” last year around Thanksgiving and had no clue what it was (outside of salad dressing) until just now! Going to share the upside down cranberry cake with my mom for this holiday season! I’m so obsessed with all of your videos! You have inspired me to start doing freezer meals! On the weekends I have your videos playing all day! Who needs Netflix?!?! I’d rather watch Becky ❤
Oh my gosh, I am feeling the rush of excitement I felt when I first saw your Thanksgiving Prep videos and your moms helpful efficiency planning tips video. These were the first I watched when I found you on TH-cam many months ago. I’m not hosting this year but my recipe plans are nailed down, my pumpkins will be roasting further in advance and the new recipe addition to the menu is your cranberry salsa. I hope you have wonderful fun as the holiday season kicks off. 🦃🎄🎉
I made this as my first ever cheesecake yesterday and oh. my. goodness. It's wonderful! Definitely a new family favorite and a Thanksgiving staple from now own!
Hi Becky. I only found your videos last week, and I have been so busy looking at old ones looking at current ones. I really enjoy you. I’m in Newfoundland Canada on the most easterly point of North America. I look forward to watching you. I have been cooking snd baking for my family for almost 50 years and I’m still learning lots. Thank you. 🌟🦋
Hi Becky! I love when you smell the herbs, it's as though you're about to hold the jar out, and say "SMELL THIS!!!" I was thinking you could get some Nilla wafers, and make little pumpkin cheesecake muffins from the excess cheesecake batter. I always get hungry watching you cook...! 😋
Hi Becky So excited for your upcoming holiday in your new home. I too recently moved. Love your videos. Just one thing; stuffing is cooked inside to bird and dressing is cooked outside the bird. You stuff the bird with stuffing and dress the bird with dressing. Have an awesome thanksgiving.
Watching you bake your cakes brings back such wonderful memories of watching my grandmother cook. She had an under bench cupboard that was a pivot, pull down flour bin (also one for sugar). She kept all of her butter wraps to grease the pans. You do an amazing job! Well done.
I wrap the bottom of the cheese cake pan with tin foil in case it leaks from the bottom then place it in a water bath to do exactly what you say Kim keeping the cheese cake from cracking. I also helps keep it creamier
Doesn’t matter what the weather outside is…you brighten up the day inside ☀️ You’re such an (energetic) inspiration! Definitely going to try your stuffing recipe 😋
I dry bread in oven.sage sausage, onion, garlic, celery, bitty carrot pieces, mushrooms and chestnut pieces, have a tree, so must use them. Fresh herbs. Have to use the gardens bounty. I get the 24,25# turkey. Like the big legs and wings. Giblet gravy.
You are so authentic and fun to watch. I don’t know if anyone has ever😊mentioned that you have beautiful nails and hand. You could be a hand model.Don’t know how you keep them so nice, with all the cooking and baking you do. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.😊
Wanted to leave a message since I caught this video shortly after it was posted! Happy thanksgiving! Also, love your guest bathroom items. I would do longer curtains so they can be outside the tub and for your little display area in the back I would do a set of three items. Maybe the Epsom salts, bath bombs and a shower bombs. Sets of threes are classic!
I watch all of your videos as soon as I see there is a new one. Love your whole attitude, about life, and cooking and gardening. Keep up the good work. .
In Canada our Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October. So this year it was October 12th. Enjoy your holidays. I love your vlog. You are such a lovely woman and inspiration, even to an older lady like me
I just found your channel this weekend. It is by far my all time favorite. Thank you for keeping things simple. You explain things beautifully. Keep up the amazing videos. ❤
I always enjoy your vlogs, and I've noticed that i end up more motivated to get things done in my small kitchen...so thank you for that. Also, when working with a recipe that you aren't familiar with, you might consider reading through it completely, ingredients, instructions and all, 3 times before actually beginning the project. I learned this from a chef, and it REALLY helps.
Just a note: if you set one side of sink in hot soapy water put dishes in then put them in dishwasher. You will never have to worry about cleaning your dishwasher or its' filter. I've had my dishwasher for over 10+ years my dishwasher stays clean.
The egg in the stuffing just acts as a binder. Your stuffing may be a little loose but will still taste delicious! Nothing like a little gravy on top to bring it all together❣️
Becky I so enjoyed. My mom use to stuff the turky when i was a small child she stoped stuffing the bird when dad died (my dad died in the month of November in 1977) it changed the way my family did the holidays after that.when i married i made stuffing on the stove, now that my mom is gone holidays are no longer the same for me. I miss family dinners. Hope you and your inlaws have a wonderful dinner and time together.🙇♀️💕🥧

I really love your videos. My mom makes her dressing the same way, but adds apple and walnuts, which add great flavor and texture as well. I have been binge-watching your videos and am getting so much inspiration.
Ok… now I need your sisters recipe too! Pumpkin cheese cake pecan pie hybrid sounds AMAZING!
Ginger snaps are good to use for the crust on a pumpkin cheesecake. So yummy!
My sister cooks but gets overwhelmed very quickly and has a nervous break down 😂 I’m happy I’ll be able to help this year 🥰
Thanks for all you do and for sharing with noobs like me! ♥️🦃
I absolutely adore every video - I hope you see this Becky and know that you are making our days brighter with your presence ✨
I love seeing the rain and wind through your windows while you cook! I love to cook when it’s like that outside🙂
I made a pumpkin cheesecake once using the Pioneer Woman's recipe. The crust was made with ginger snaps! Oh my goodness!
The best!
Here in New Zealand we call green onions, spring onions, I find it interesting that there are different names for the same things.😊
Scallions is another name...
I made the cranberry salsa last year and it was a hit! I barely had any because it was devoured so fast! It’s on my list for this year again. Thanks for all you do!
Same! We made two batches and it wasn’t enough! ❤️
I want to make it for Christmas this year!
@@blackrock5749 You really should! It was hit again at Thanksgiving. I will most likely make it again during Christmas at some point.
Looks so good! Hope you enjoyed your family time.
You're looking great mama. Your energy amazes me 🙂
This is awesome Becky. I’m flying to the US to visit my sister in 2 days and we will be celebrating our first thanksgiving. Being aussies we have no idea, so now I can volunteer to do the desserts. 🎉🎉
Welcome to America and Happy Thanksgiving. Watching from Oklahoma, Barb
Omg Becky I have never clicked so fast I am starting to make
My list for thanksgiving making sure I got everything I am curled up on the couch and watching my favorite TH-cam thank you for the inspiration on my own channel Becky 😊
My favorite after-Thanksgiving treat is a turkey, cranberry sauce and cornbread dressing sandwich. Yum!
I do a cornbread dressing outside of the turkey. Its tradition in our family, we're from Alabama/Florida area.
Watching thuds really makes me miss my Momma. She cooked the best Thanksgiving dinner. My Daddy was the best turkey cooker &trimmer. ❤❤
Thank you!!
Everything looks amazing. Please let us know how Josh likes his punpkin cheesecake oatmeal casserole.
Hi pretty lady how are you doing, and how is the weather over there?
Yummy! Also, Hubby has noticed I have adopted your style lately! Also your tablescaping looks good!
Yes to the water-bath! It helps so much, prevents cracking and over baking and really gives it that smooth creamy texture
We always stuff the bird but we make extra stuffing that we bake. I do traditional stuffing with sausage but I also put fresh cooked mushrooms in with it. Love your channel Becky.
The best time of year 🥰 I love being in the kitchen with you but during the holidays is my favorite!!!! Bye friend♥️♥️
Yes, most definitely get that pecan recipe from your sister, and share here too!!! Love, love, love pecan pie! ♥️
Me too!
That’s the same way I’ve been making it for 50 yrs just like my Mother and Grandmother it’s the way it’s usually always made here in my southern mountain town in East Tennessee 😋
@@Luwanasue Howdy neighbor from mountains of Western N C. Haywood County.
@@sharonedwards7821 Hey Neighbor your right I’m only 2 hours away from you 25 miles north of Knoxville
@@Luwanasue Hi! I'm originally from Memphis transplanted to SC. That's the way we make in the South. Lol
Good morning from South Africa 🙂
I am enjoying watching you cook and bake. What especially got me excited and intrigued is when you went outside. Please show us more footage of the rainy weather and the mist. It's so mesmerizing 🙂
My husband’s family from central PA, calls stuffing “filling”. In restaurants, the menu states filling. I was amazed. 💙
All my PA “Dutch” (Deutsch or German) have always called it fiiling. Turkey giblets are usually involved!
I never put egg in my dressing. Everything looks delicious!
I also never put egg in the dressing. Neither did my mom.
Hi Becky
So excited for your upcoming holiday in your new home.
Well done.
Becky I love your channel
My family is going through some difficult times my son is ill and watching you has helped me cope
Aw I’m sorry. I’m glad I can help :)
You should always put a small pan of water in the oven under your cheese cake to prevent cracking on the top.
I always put water under mine for that purpose, but her cheesecake looked perfect without using water! Looks delicious!
This trick never works for me. Mine crack every time no matter what I do. Mine are always sugar-free though.
Yes my dad always did this
The water bath works best for me
I wrap the bottom of the cheese cake pan with tin foil in case it leaks from the bottom then place it in a water bath to do exactly what you say Kim keeping the cheese cake from cracking. I also helps keep it creamier
Love the window behind you and the blustery weather while you are safe and warm cooking yummy foods!
Yay Becky! You are GLOWING! That sweater looks cozy. I think I need one of those mugs. Okay, let’s cook!
Joy!!! Was that a little kick at 1:41?!!! ❤🥳❤
Or beat it into the extra broth.
Yup. I never use eggs in my stuffing. The gluten in the bread does just fine.
