Thank you for pronouncing Lisa Bluder's last name correctly. Too many TH-camrs pronouncing it wrong (rhymes with blubber) that it is refreshing to have a good one who also understands women's bball.

Winning records at drake and iowa.. Delt well with all the extra limelight on CC...and she did beat SC last year 2023 in final 4..that was big

Thank you for this rational take. Lisa and Jan were there to support Caitlin at the home-opener, and that's all. It's not that hard to figure out.
I suspect a lot of these people who are insistent that Lisa Bluder is taking over didn't watch Bluder's post-retirement press-conference. She was pretty clear about her reasoning.
She's 63 and wants that family time. As you said, let the woman retire.
Also, I totally agree that Smith needs to be the one setting the picks to get Caitlin some space on the perimeter. Smith is much quicker than Boston, and all 3 of them will eventually benefit from such a strategy.
Yea, there is nothing that Lisa has said that indicates that she would even consider coaching in the W.

She really wanted a quality times with her family, and that is nothing wrong with that. Her family comes first. Christina Sides is the coach, and she is working hard to help her team win games. She will be fine. Team will be go through the growing pains.

I’d be amazed if her WNBA salary would even be 1/10 of her Iowa salary . She retired to be with her family . She’ll support firmer players I’m sure but I’d be surprised if she ever decided to coach in the WNBA
In college Clark had post players come up and set screens on her defender almost ever play. Clark could even signal the post player to come up to set her a screen. None of this is taking place at Indiana. I am not sure Clark is allowed to request someone (anyone) to set a screen for her. As a result, Clark cannot get open shots.
She’s not going anywhere. She has plans to have a small role in support of the Iowa team. I just wish people would calm down. I just wish that people would give rookies and teams a chance to grow. Yes, there are things to improve from one end of the spectrum to another.

I'm sure she was taking notes for her own strategy purposes. A great coach will take things they can use from the professional level often. Tara used Mike D'Antoni sp? to help change her offensive approach a few years back.

As a lifelong Hawkeye fan I can pretty much guarantee that Bluder will NOT coach the Fever. The Iowa job was her dream gig. She would never leave that and the recent success to takeover this mess. College ball is full of fun and excitement while the WNBA feels like a league full of crotchety old disgruntled women. Lisa wouldn’t be up for that for sure!
That's funny. I have never watched the W before this season, and the difference is that the college girls play with such passion and excitement. The pros just have dead eyes like they are on a mission and it's not a game. No fun.
But she wants women’s basketball to get better. So maybe she would do it for a couple of years. To help grow the wnba?

@@MattWarfieldi didnt mean she had more to teach, though there may be more. I meant she could build the game plan around CC. Play her at point. Leave her in the game! Make sure the others don’t hog the ball. And maybe teach Boston how to play post better.
@@v2807 CC is already playing more minutes than anyone else in the game for either side. At least, when she's not in foul difficulty. And AB needs a bit of time to adjust to the game not flowing through her as a first weapon. She's playing with the uncertainty of someone who's had the rug pulled out from under her. It was nice to see AB bring back some of her aggression. But, I'll probably lose my mind if I see the entire team watch a rebound bounce off the floor twice before they react. Ten suicide drills for every player in every practice until the next game for every live ball watched.

Patience is what I say. Lisa deserves retirement. Everyone should grab a retirement if possible. Christie needs a little more time.
I have never been so disgusted with all the drama surrounding CC. She's off the porch now, stomping with the big dogs , CC will grow into the league, just like Kamilla, Angel, Cameron and Ms Jackson.
She will indeed grow and has the work ethic to ensure that happens. The team also needs to learn how to leverage the defensive attention CC is getting to their benefit. These things don't happen at the speed of social media. The grace the players and coaches have for each other seem to highlight how disgusting everyone is in viewing the growth process as failure. Growth only happens through failure. Those intensive defensive pressures are providing CC a path to add to her game. Enjoy the process of seeing all these young women lift each other to greater heights through hard work and supporting each other.

Lisa is 63, and at her press-conference she said that she and her husband want to do things like travel while they are still healthy. She also has a son that is going to be a senior in college, and she wants to see him play. This speculation about her coaching for the Fever is extremely silly.
It is speculation that Bluder will coach the Fever, and it is speculation that she won't. None of us can say with certainty what she will do.
Lisa would lose the locker room before game one. Clearly the team is'nt buying into playing outside in.
She and Jan will for sure be in Vegas, Jan is Kate Martin's aunt as well as her coach.
Coach Bluder was there to be in front of 17,000 +Fever fans and she was introduced to the entire stadium to applause.

Boston and Wheeler need to be benched. Starting line up needs to be Fagbenle, Katie Sue, Barger, Clark and Smith. That line up closed the score within 11 in the 3rd after being down over 20. They looked like a team that could pass and score.

@@thatguybill34 Explain why Indiana had a run in the 3rd and came within 11 and outscored New York without Boston or Wheeler playing. When Wheeler and Boston returned in the 4th, New York blew them out by 30 plus. Tell me again what lie I am telling.
For your analysis to be reliable, you must also say which team the opponents had on the field, because perhaps there were second lines. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it's a biased analysis.

Czinano scored 18 points against Boston, who only had 8, when Iowa defeated unbeaten SC. She is now playing professionally in Europe.

And if your logic is that Czinano should be on the Fever because she once outscored Boston (who was in foul trouble that game), that's a huge stretch. LB may not become the coach of the Fever team but that does not preclude her meeting with Ms Sides privately and exchanging ideas about how to fix the problems there, and share some encouraging words with CC.
Ain't gonna happen. The 'fans' qotta chill. EVERY rookie that comes into the league needs to learn a new system, learn teammate tendencies, etc. They had 10 days ... in college they have spring/summer and then 6 weeks pre-season. And only a couple of games a week (if that) so plenty of time to practice, work on things, etc. In college the opponents werren't great every night ... in the W, even the worst teams are made up of among the best 150 players on the planet (assuming a few aren't in the W.) Welcome to the W Caitlin.

Coach Bluder was trying to figure out what the hell Christy doing. So tired of every one blaming Catlin for the loss there is no I in team ,the person who cheered her on to get drafted act like she didnt even see her on the court standing in the corner, did no body play defense, they don't hustle down the court clearly this team is broken and Christy is coaching the same plays she played last yr. How is you going to stop your best 3 point shooter and play her in another position and your last yr number one pick is not playing like her old self, she need to put players in that can play and run with Catlin.
In the comments I read, no one blames Clark for the defeats, but they are responses to the opinions of Clark's fans (and I think you are one of them) who see Coach Sides as incompetent, and Clark's teammates as unskilled players. not at her par, and for whom the 20 points scored by Clark are an excellent debut.
It is clear that these comments are responded to with overall data that puts Clark's less-than-brilliant performances into perspective and that if someone really needs to be blamed for the defeats, then Clark is a likely candidate.
You would like coach Sides to play the Iowa way, but now the opponents are at another level, and Muhl, Williams, Johnson and others have shown how to stop Clark in college games (20 points and 30% shooting); What did you expect to happen in the WNBA?

@@wb926 I already asked someone else who made the same observation as you about the Fever's game improving when some players were on the bench, which players the opponents were fielding at the time. This data would make your analysis reliable or not.
Excuse me if I tell you, but it seems to me that Clark's fans see a game in a one-dimensional way, like "if a player is double or triple teamed then there are 2-3 other free ones" forgetting that these actions, when done well, lead to a turnover for the opponents.

I love how every time CC misses a 3 pointer or turns it over the Clark cult screams “fire Sides!” People need to chill, CC is doing exactly what you would expect a rookie to do, and exactly what DT thought she would do. Anybody who thought she would win every game with a torrent of 3 pointers from the logo is just not living in reality, and needs to give CC some space to develop a WNBA game (yes, that means she does not have one yet…)
Sides has shown her immaturity by publically critisizing Clark in an effort to establish dominance over her. Her offense is a disaster revealing her ineptitude as a coach. There is no flow to the offense and certainly no effort to include Clark. The Fever is blowing it and Sides needs to go.
Ever consider that maybe it’s the players that aren’t getting it done? The players are clearly not on the same page, but could be that it’s because they are not sure how to work with Clark. I never heard of Sides (or Bluder) until a couple of months ago, but it’s hard to blame her and call for a change 2 games into the season…

Don’t know what Sides is telling her players. Why draft a player if you’re not going to play her style. Playing Clark at shooting guard and sticking her in the corner is a waste of talent. So what if she messes up, you’ll still lose by 30 but it’s paying dividends.
People need to get off the internet, omg. No wonder everyone's unhappy the way these god-awful takes catch fire. Sides' offense really isn't bad, it has a lot of modern stuff copped straight from contemporary NBA strats, 4-5 out looks, off-ball stagger screens, etc. etc.. There were also a few great P&R concepts with simultaneous off-ball screen action, and CC is starting to figure out how to deal with those hard hedges she's seeing on ball screens. My favorite was halfway through the second quarter where she just kind of noncommittally stood midway through the screen and Boston took off for a quick bounce pass, dime buys a bucket. Ultimately, execution, effort, experience will get this team clicking, and two of those three take time. Right now it's just not, but they've also played two of the best teams in the league to start the season without their other great 3-level scorer at 100%. Folks need to be patient.
