HOW TO SET KEYFRAMES IN MAYA.
In this video, I use a simple cube example to demonstrate how to set keys in various ways in Maya. Such as setting keys on everything versus setting keys on individual attributes. Then I go over the auto key function in Maya. How to turn on the autokey in Maya, and then a couple of troubleshooting tips that I see people make all the time.
So let's jump into Maya and set some keys! A key is a saved value for a given attribute on the timeline. So you can set keys on just about anything. Translation, rotation, scale, visibility, or even custom attributes which I might go into in a future video. Basically, learning to set a keyframe in Maya is your first step toward animating something. Set two keys, and now you have an animation :)
I also throw in how to delete keys in Maya. This is a little tricky for no reason, but you can accidentally delete your object when trying to delete keyframes.

I have been wondering why this happens for a little while now... This is right on time... knowing when and whether to grab the whole mesh and key it... or using autokey... frustration now vanquished... lol thank you spencer... liked and subscribed

:) You’re welcome. I’m glad it was helpful. I know what you meant, but just to clarify, I wouldn’t key the mesh itself on a rigged character. Make sure you are only selecting and keying the control curves ;)

@@SquamashiiTutorials yes i get the clarification and it’s appreciated… I put the mesh on a separate layer and turn it to where it wont be selected… I learned that from Kiel Figgins, using his advanced meshes/rigs… lol talk about a learning curve that was…
