  • This build is a bit late to be published but i hope u enjoy!
    This video is not sponsored its just my honest review and first impressions. By the time this video was uploaded i had several weeks with the build and am overall very impressed and satisfied with the conversion. Few things i thought would be issues (mainly ventilation) proved not to be an issue at all! I 100% recommend this product and plan on purchasing more from them!

    Can you put heat lamps on the glass?

  • @ellyhammond6047

    I’m wanting to get one of these, my only concern is the heat light situation, does it get really hot on the glass? And how well does it keep the heat inside?

    • @obsidianscales1202
      @obsidianscales1202  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does hold heat well. Not very much ventilation is great for humidity but heat will not be able to escape so easily, i would very much suggest a thermostat. I live in SoCal so heat isn't a huge concern (cooling is my problem)

    How much clay balls did you use? I got my doors coming. I also broke out the top and made a screen top so I can use heat lamps if needed. Plus a little more ventilation. Thanks for tip about the black. Might go pick some of that up. Can you explain more about how you did the back and sides or do you have another video for that? Thanks

      I built 2 and both used 2lb bag of clay balls. As for the sides I just used gorilla glue but at this size I think the better choices is silicone and foam. I have another build in the works where I experimented with both and honestly silicone and foam is better for larger sized enclosures. Also learned to make sure the sides are very uneven and have bulges or something of the sort because the geckos have a bit of trouble gripping the soil/bark when it's completely vertical! Hope that's useful info!

      How did you do that? I want to get this kit for a horizontal conversion but the top would then be glass. I cannot rest a heater on it and the UVB will not go through it.

      @ryangalvatron4451 sorry replying so late. Tape the glass up and break what would be the top. Then go to a hardware store and get the kits/supplies you need to make a screen for windows. I used a metal screen since my heat lamp would be on top.

    what type of glue exactly is that , and how does it hold up over time ? its a great idea

    • @obsidianscales1202
      @obsidianscales1202  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's gorilla glue, it works great once you've figured out how it works. I've had a bit of trouble with it in the past with it not holding on to glass well but if it has an edge or corner to anchor itself it hold significantly better! I'm looking to see if silicone is any better A.T.M

    Any warping in the acrylic or still pretty straight ?

      The first one I built did bow a bit but I over did the substrate a little. I would say fortify the bottom with a little more binder or whatever you're using and it should hold well. I personally moved from Silcone to gorrilla glue gel and saw a huge difference in sturdiness

    Are you using any light on top of the tank for heat? If you are, what type?

    • @obsidianscales1202
      @obsidianscales1202  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No heat just a plant light. If you want to heat it I highly suggest making sure the bulb doesn't make contact with the glass to make sure it doesn't get too hot. You might be better off with a heat pad tbh

      @@obsidianscales1202 even for a crested gecko? I’m guessing the room temp is already pretty warm if you don’t need a heat light

    How are you lighting and heating on glass top??

    • @obsidianscales1202
      @obsidianscales1202  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using a plant light so no heat and the uv it's providing can pass through the glass. Heat would probably pretty tricky on this style of tank unless it's a heat pad

  • @ZenHD

    you probally wont see this but can i ask what uvb u used

    • @obsidianscales1202
      @obsidianscales1202  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No uvb on this building only a plant light. Unfortunately uvb won't go through the glass from what I understand.
