Well there are two things I haven't figure out one of them was a couple of years back in Milwaukee we saw large missile drones going past us with no engine sound and arise into the clouds. He’s leaving a shadow of a doubt. We don’t have any idea what these things are, or where they came from. I think Shermer’s stance is quite justified. He’s not saying it’s 100% aliens, or it isn’t. Because we don’t know what it is. Anyone who tells you that they know exactly what it is, is lying to you.
Is he holding him to account, or is he simply speaking the other side of the coin, or his viewpoint? I really appreciate that joe has someone on like this. I think we often get frustrated when our ideas are tried and tested because we like to feel right. Joes agenda is far more then that. You can tell he wants to be challenged to give himself, and us the viewers better perspective. This is why I love this show.

One thing that is a problem at times in the scientific community is the whole “ridicule” factor. This keeps very legitimate scientists from even wanting to touch certain subjects w a 10 ft pole out of fear of losing their whole careers and being ostracized by the community as a whole. It even happened with evolution in the beginning. It was laughed at and dismissed off hand as lunacy for a number of years and a lot of actual serious scientists got laughed out of their careers because it was such a “laughable idea”. It wasn’t until the issue kept being pushed and pushed and by more scientists that it finally started to be taken more serious. The idea and acceptance of it actually evolved itself and over time, it became more and more accepted as more scientists were willing to steak their careers on it and submit their papers for peer review. And as we all know now, there is overwhelming evidence for the theory of evolution by natural selection. It’s the cornerstone of biology now. That was not always the case and it was a slow process to become “mainstream” vs “quackery”. I am a very big fan of the scientific method and I realize that science is the single best method for determining what is most likely the case given the evidence we have.. the problem I also see is that fear factor that exists with new ideas or ideas that people think are “crazy” just because it just seems soooo out there etc etc. this UAP phenomena has been goin on for years.. centuries actually and only until more recently has it been looked at in a more serious light especially after the pentagon releasing information and videos of UAPS that they had optical and radar evidence of these “crafts” displaying moves that seem to defy all laws of known physics and logic. What I see in the scientific community regarding this subject is ridicule ridicule ridicule by the mainstream right off the bat. There are actual serious legitimate scientists who are afraid to even touch the subject because of the “taboo” nature of it that a society has caused. This can block the progression of actually learning more about these things. At this point there is no debate on whether there are unidentified things flying around our air space displaying moves that seem to defy all known physics.. no matter how much someone wants to claim that it’s debatable. The real question is what are these things and what/who is inside em. Thousands of documented cases that actually have very specific details about the event and even by high military personnel.. Hell, I watched Major Jesse Marcel, the dude who was pictured in the papers after the Roswell incident holding up some kind of foil they said was from the “weather balloon”, I watched him say on camera that he was told to lie about that and pose for that picture and that what they actually found was anything BUT a weather balloon and that what they actually found was other worldly.. and this guy was actually THERE!! Science should not ridicule any idea. I’m not saying it should come to a conclusion before it’s warranted either- I’m saying, the current scientific community and way that we determine what should and shouldn’t be taken seriously is very flawed and NOT the definition of being objective. I think you and many people didn't really understand his point. He doesn't disagree that it could be those things, his opinion is that it is very unlikely. This misunderstanding happens alot to skeptics. It's simply a fact that the vast majority of grand conspiracy theories are either wrong or only half true. People like to believe in things, it's our own nature to react that way to things we don't understand. Personally, I'm a quite skeptical person but definetly not as much as him in this particular case, but you need to recognize that he's asking the right questions.
He makes a lot of good points, points that everyone should take into consideration. Taking those into consideration, it's still hard to dismiss the astonishing number of accounts where people describe some sort of ufo/uap flying around in the sky. They're not just reports from some back country rednecks but from highly trained, intelligent, and credible people.

The second object I discovered resembles the classic flying saucer in shape. This appears to be a 2-mile diameter "saucer". It has a tail section and a bulge that might be the bridge/ cockpit. A second one is buried under mud a short distance away. 24°55'24"N 170°11'31"W

Humans are sometimes so arrogant they limit themselves to assume something doesn't exist just bc they haven't seen it. I've seen very weird and incredibly fast aerial vehicles near the big observatory and many people here have seen the same but noone knows what they could be
Some humans are so arrogant that they assume other life forms from far away, would give a single fuck about them.
There are descriptions of objects hovering, not making a sound, entering and leaving the ocean, instantly accelerating to ridiculous speeds without making a sonic boom and doing 90º angle turns without losing speed since the 40's/50's. Now, about 70 years later, we are finally getting some concrete evidence that these things actually exist, but they're probably just man-made advanced drones.

One thing that is a problem at times in the scientific community is the whole “ridicule” factor. This keeps very legitimate scientists from even wanting to touch certain subjects w a 10 ft pole out of fear of losing their whole careers and being ostracized by the community as a whole. It even happened with evolution in the beginning. It was laughed at and dismissed off hand as lunacy for a number of years and a lot of actual serious scientists got laughed out of their careers because it was such a “laughable idea”. It wasn’t until the issue kept being pushed and pushed and by more scientists that it finally started to be taken more serious. The idea and acceptance of it actually evolved itself and over time, it became more and more accepted as more scientists were willing to steak their careers on it and submit their papers for peer review. And as we all know now, there is overwhelming evidence for the theory of evolution by natural selection. It’s the cornerstone of biology now. That was not always the case and it was a slow process to become “mainstream” vs “quackery”.
I am a very big fan of the scientific method and I realize that science is the single best method for determining what is most likely the case given the evidence we have.. the problem I also see is that fear factor that exists with new ideas or ideas that people think are “crazy” just because it just seems soooo out there etc etc. this UAP phenomena has been goin on for years.. centuries actually and only until more recently has it been looked at in a more serious light especially after the pentagon releasing information and videos of UAPS that they had optical and radar evidence of these “crafts” displaying moves that seem to defy all laws of known physics and logic. What I see in the scientific community regarding this subject is ridicule ridicule ridicule by the mainstream right off the bat. There are actual serious legitimate scientists who are afraid to even touch the subject because of the “taboo” nature of it that a society has caused. This can block the progression of actually learning more about these things. At this point there is no debate on whether there are unidentified things flying around our air space displaying moves that seem to defy all known physics.. no matter how much someone wants to claim that it’s debatable. The real question is what are these things and what/who is inside em. Thousands of documented cases that actually have very specific details about the event and even by high military personnel.. Hell, I watched Major Jesse Marcel, the dude who was pictured in the papers after the Roswell incident holding up some kind of foil they said was from the “weather balloon”, I watched him say on camera that he was told to lie about that and pose for that picture and that what they actually found was anything BUT a weather balloon and that what they actually found was other worldly.. and this guy was actually THERE!!
Science should not ridicule any idea. I’m not saying it should come to a conclusion before it’s warranted either- I’m saying, the current scientific community and way that we determine what should and shouldn’t be taken seriously is very flawed and NOT the definition of being objective. Ridiculing people to a point where no legitimate scientist wants to study the phenomena out of fear of losing their career is NOT the way it should be and is NOT the proper way to learn more about our reality and universe and advance our species. I think you and many people didn't really understand his point. He doesn't disagree that it could be those things, his opinion is that it is very unlikely. This misunderstanding happens alot to skeptics. It's simply a fact that the vast majority of grand conspiracy theories are either wrong or only half true. People like to believe in things, it's our own nature to react that way to things we don't understand. Personally, I'm a quite skeptical person but definetly not as much as him in this particular case, but you need to recognize that he's asking the right questions.

This appears to be a 2-mile diameter "saucer". It has a tail section and a bulge that might be the bridge/ cockpit. A second one is buried under mud a short distance away.

He's already admitted the pilot's accounts are credible. It's not really the job of a skeptic to prove explain anything because no one at this moment can explain the sightings. The problem is everyone and their dog wants to take Fravor's testimony and go straight to "must be aliens".

That’s where all this starts, within your heart. God basically doesn’t care until you’ve paid this mustard seed of faith. After you do this he takes notice. He sets you on a path that will lead you to the true knowledge of him. God is love, and he and the more you show love the more you understand God. Please, before you dismiss me, please consider my words. I don’t share this for no reason. You must forgive. It heals your soul. It will lead you to truth. Please, just do.
Also, please read at least three books of the Bible, Genesis Mathew and one you chose yourself. It is so important. Pray to Jesus Christ, break down those walls you’ve built up there, and ask for forgiveness for yourself. We all need it. Both giving and receiving. Please. The Bible is truth.

@@sasqetshenkley1190 RIGHT?! Problem with "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" is that "extraordinary" is subjective. They can just say your claim is extraordinary and your evidence isn't and drop the mic like the case is closed. Meanwhile if you have the opposite opinion, you think the claim isn't extraordinary but the evidence is, you're sitting there wondering how the skeptic could be so self deluded. Although we must concede we don't have enough *confirmed* data to draw definitive conclusions about UFO's and it's *imperative* we adhere to the scientific method, the body of *evidence* currently catalogued is sufficient to support the factual existence of *extraordinary* physical craft in our skies & oceans.
@@sasqetshenkley1190 Thanks for these links, I will go through them :) To be pedantic, we likely cannot adhere to the scientific method because the scientific method assumes that the subject is unaware of the experiment and will always react to the same experiment the same way. These are safe assumptions when dealing with molecules or blocks of wood sliding down a ramp, but not when dealing with unknown intelligence. Instead we have to adhere to the principles of "counter-intelligence", which are based on the same realist philosophy as the scientific method, but prescribes different rules of epistemology for the case where the subject is an intelligent agent who may be reacting to the experiment and intentionally attempting to direct the perceptions of the investigator.

There are all sort of little cognitive devils like recency and primacy effects, and retroactive and proactive interference. In other words, right out of the gate, unless you have eidetic memory, your own brain is conspiring to make you remember events upside down and out of order.
These are the JRE conversations I like! Joe doesn’t normally push back for the sake of argument, because he’s a polite host (which is a lost art), but his points were really interesting. It made for a cool exchange.
The point Michael should've made about the Navy seeing UAP's every day should have been that if they knew something unexplained was flying around, they would have plenty of time and opportunities to send something closer to get some clear video and pictures
Part of being open-minded is also accepting skepticism, you cannot use open-mindedness to perpetuate your own alternate ideas without being open to any ideas.

You guys really need to check out Mick West's channel. He debunks all your ufo videos scientifically and even recreates or shows other examples to show you what you're actually seeing..
