Is it safe for an elder woman of 70 to travel and set up a new life there, residency? I have no desire to come back to the state where I live now.

Akuma is near Cancun which has crime. Maybe take a look at Ajijiic or Quertero or San Miguel. Large ex-pat communities in Ajijiic and San Miguel.

Akumal is not so close to Cancun, we use the Cancun airport, yes, but Akumal is laid back and as safe as any town in North America with wonderful affordable medical/dental care of any kind a short drive away in Playa del Carmen.

Although it will be about the same distance as it is to the Cancun Int'l airport, I do feel that the new International airport that is supposed to be built at Felipe Carrillo Puerto is going to make Akumal more assessible, bringing in more tourism, business, and ultimately increase the amount of people interested in moving here. All of this I feel, is going to increase the cost of buying, renting and living here.

No matter where you live in Mexico it’s important to learn to live like a local does so you can help not raise the cost of living for people around you

Not that Akumal wouldn't be a GREAT hang now, but I am so glad I enjoyed 2 glorious weeks prior to the hotel build.
I prefer a very slow pace, and quite atmosphere while on vacation.
I just want to hear the ocean, nature and Howler monkeys [Costa Rica].
Stayed at Gabriella's Casita in the gated community. Beautiful!
Unable to find her place on VRBO a few years ago.
Loco Gringo suggested Miguel, my tour guide. Love him! Highly recommend him if he's still available.
Thank you, Mexico Relocation for the invite.

Love Akumal area ! Great detailed video. We were at Sunscape Resort & Spa as your typical tourist ; Ideally it would be nice to rent 3 months during the winter months and then head back to Canada. However, getting scammed would be a big concern when renting. The local people are friendly; it’s a matter of finding the right fit , where it’s a win win for everyone concerned. Tulum sounds promising?

Can I bring my 10 lb dog to Mexico for a visit? I first visited Cancun in 1989 including Playa Del Carmen and Puerto Moreles. It was very different back then but Akumal had the same reputation as described in this video! I'e been back a few times but not in the past 15 years when much of the Riviera growth happened. I long to return.

It depends on the airline if you are flying in. Airlines are the ones that impose the restrictions of which pets can fly and what the requirements are.
If you are driving to Mexico, it is very easy to bring your dog.

Those are not bargains by any stretch of the imagination, if you look what a Mexican professional makes a month which is going to be between 20,000 or 25,000 pesos a month

      Tienes toda la razon.
And I agree- but most people watching this channel aren’t going to be living the way a local does. Many people get priced higher rents because they speak broken Spanish and landlords take advantage of them

People and nature do NOT live in harmony in the Mayan riviera! Masses of untreated sewage has contributed to unprecedented algal growth which has taken over from corals, with their much slower growth. Corals are still there and all the fish etc that it harbours, but the ancient corals have mostly gone and the bits that are left are small remnants which unbridled tourism continues to diminish. Tell us about your sewage treatment systems and waste disposal, the reality of the recycling system not the green wash if you want to be authentic with this campaign. We came this year to grieve the loss of the reefs. Most people can't see what has been lost. Dont be part of the blind masses.
