When the first shovelful of the infamous orange magic dirt was scooped and stacked into a pile on a strip of undeveloped land in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, back in 1994, it sparked a clay inferno that resulted in multiple lines filled with various progressive jumps that became the legendary Posh Woods. The lasting impact and huge influence that Posh and the locals have had on the global trails community is undeniable. The bar on jump construction and shaping, trails etiquette, and dedication (to name a few) has been raised multiple notches over the last two decades, thanks to Posh.
One current Posh local has been there since day one and continues to steer the ship with relentless passion-Jay Lonergan. In his DIG Issue 90 interview, Joe Rich summed up his lifelong friend well: “Jay’s life is dedicated to that place. It is a huge part of his soul. Just seeing that love and dedication for it, him riding his bike and doing what he needs to do get that feeling he needs from it. Even working long hours at a full-time job and going straight from work to build the trails for a month at a time, only to have them washed away and start that process again… that’s just another level altogether. It’s one thing to do it for a year or two, but almost 20 years (Ed. note: over 23 at this point), that’s a different breed of human.”
Enjoy some wisdom straight from the mind of arguably the most dedicated rider to the trails lifestyle, of all time. All hail the Trail Shaman.

Total legend! So cool how they got these place to be legit and protected it from being plowed. I poured my heart and soul into 3 different places back in the 90s and early 2000’s and all plowed and thats a heartbreaking day to say the least. Rock on Posh crew 🤘🏻

What makes a Trail boss . A trail boss is any rider that shreds any set of trails like nothing like their own set

We had a trails but now i have to say that I have a trails because everyone left, doing his thing and I dont have the time to build it rideable. If i had, I can invite riders to ride with me.
This video motivates me to go out and dig, even if I tired.
We do the most beutiful sport, and trails is a fckin good slice of it.

This is so good and such an inspiration for me. I'm 36. I raced as a kid and got into trails but kind of stopped riding as I got a job and more life responsibilities were put in my lap. Now I have kids and i've been out of the bmx scene for long enough to realize how important it is to have fun doing the things that always work for you. BMX was always my thing and this video put me over the top. I have a bike in the mail and i'll be coming to POSH this summer. Coming from New Hampshire. I'll be satisfied if all I do is help out with some digging.

Edward James same here mate, 32 years old, married in May last year, mortgaged up to the eye balls, rode BMX pretty much as soon as I could ride a bike, In Italy where I’m from they had bike rental stools and I always got onto the BMX bikes, my grandad eventually bought me my own, chrome frame, steel mag wheels, I loved that bike, then I moved to England when I was 13, the BMX scene here was well established and I rode until I was 28, still got the bike, been thinking about taking it out and heading down the park for a while, see what the new generation is up to :)

@@Dirt.carver 2 Years later and 3 visits to Posh/Catty with that mail bike haha. And that bike rode Posh/Catty...just not the big shit. I've lived more than half my life off of a BMX bike at this point. I was a bit rusty. But Sticks line is fun as hell!! The trails are even more beautiful and just so impressive in person. Can't wait to go back when this pandemic lets up.

@@Dirt.carver Dude it's a good time. I recommend it to anyone regardless if they ride. It's just a great atmosphere and vibe out in the woods with all the dudes. Seeing everyone running trains through the different lines. It's such a sick thing to see in person.

This is awesome i wish i could have trails near my house. There used to be some dirt jumps but the people who live next to them ruined them. They even cut down the trees and put them in front of all the jumps smh. I've been thinking about building some in a little spot i found. It's gonna be lots of work lots of broken bottles and so much trash. I think im gonna have to build it now.

Age is nothing. A majority of the guys i've met at Posh and Catty are grown men in their 40s-50s. I'm creeping up on 40 myself. But if you decide to show up at the trails, everyone is very welcoming.
