This is the best way I’ve ever found to kill moles. I used these sticks years ago and have been mole free since. I would like to add some tips: You should go out into the infected area the evening before you want to use the Giant Destroyer Gopher Gasser and using a garden rake, knock down every mound you find. That way, when you go out the next day, the gophers (or moles) will have made new mounds to show you where their active runs are.

My review of Giant Destroyer Smoke Bomb/Gasser: They work as advertised with some practice. Don’t use them in temporary surface mole foraging tunnels. That is a waste of time and money. Only use them in verified “mole runs” that are repeatedly used by the moles. To verify a mole run, poke a one inch diameter hole into the top of the tunnel. If it is an “active run” the mole will plug the hole back up within a few hours or a day. Moles hate the sunlight coming in through the hole. That is the mole run you want to gas (or use a trap). Moles like to make their “runs” next to, and parallel with sidewalks, driveways, or foundations.
If you can locate a vertical tunnel going down into the mole den, you have hit the mole jackpot! Gassing their den can wipe out an entire more tribe. This process has worked well for me and eliminated a very bad mole problem in my entire yard. My yard has zero mole activity at this time. Giant Destroyer Smoke Bomb/Gasser work well and are cheap to use. Smile on my face!

If this doesn’t work, maybe watch Caddyshack and take notes on Carl the groundskeeper. On second thought, maybe not. He destroyed a golf course, and the gopher lived. I swear I could hear Kenny Loggins in my head singing “I’m Allright” while I watched this.

I bought 6 packs of 4 of he Giant Destroyer Smoke Bombs. I put all 24 in m Dads shed because there were mice in it. The neighbors called the Fire Department thinking that there was a fire in the shed. But overall, the mice payed the price... having hundreds of acres of land is easy for mice to get into the sheds.

Scrape the dirt off the new mound and open up the hole. Using your fingers, make sure the tunnel is fully opened before you light the stick and shoot it inside. As soon as you shove the stick down the tunnel as far as you can, immediately plug the hole with a rock instead of dirt to be sure you don't accidentally bury the now burning stick with dirt, which could extinguish it.

Had a mole in my front yard one time. Tried these smoke bombs. Didn't work at all. I lit one and covered the hole. My yard started smoking all over the place and resembled the underground Centralia Pa coal mine fires.....An exterminator at my old company told me to use moth crystals dumped into their mounds. He said they hate the smell and the chemicals in the crystals burn the mole's feet when they try to dig them out..The crystals worked, by causing the moles to look elsewhere(read my neighbor's yard) for a place to burrow.

+Nickathome Smith when the smoke started to seep out you should have covered the spot with dirt or a brick. Keeping the smoke in the holes is what kills the things down there.

I used a gopher gasser and put it in every gopher hole I could find and it worked. It doesn't work if you only put it in a couple of holes. I also grow horseradish on the periphery of my garden, they won't go past it.

I have had a gopher problem for the past five years. I have tried various types of posions, smoke, and various traps to no avail. I learned they backfill their tunnels to stop smoke. I am happy to say I recently iraticated all my gophers only because I recently discovered the Macabee trap on TH-cam. There are several companies that market a green Macabee imitation available through Lowes and Home Depot that work fine. However, the Macabee is thicker metal, better quality, needle sharp jaws, and very very very very nasty.............

If you can plumb the exhaust from an engine, flexible pipe from a generator or lawnmower exhaust or I use my vehicle out on my land they are doomed with no defending smoke or any fleeing it carbon monoxide is heavier than air as well so it will fill all tunnels and voids , just puts them to sleep for good takes only a few minutes ten to be real safe its guaranteed to do the job hit em up at night or first light

Well at least we understand each other. You think I'm self absorbed and care about nothing because I exterminated a vermin. Nothing could be further from the truth.
You on the other hand have a naive desire to see suffering ran-out from the world. There is no way for that to ever happen, in humans, let alone the wild animals. Your desires are delusional.

I've tried maybe a dozen of these over the past 5+ years and never really felt they were effective. Another commented mentioned they backfill their tunnels when they smell the gas and I'd heard that from a couple others too. I think they
may also smell car exhaust not the carbon monoxide but elements or feel its warmth and do the same thing. I haven't had any better luck with flooding--I think the tunnel systems are just too big.
My best gopher-getters were a couple smart cats who got that I wanted to kill them. My next most successful method
has been a shotgun or .22 nearby when I'm working outside. Keep the lawn mowed and keep an eye out -- its so satisfying when you get one!

    • @HamRadioCrashCourse
      @HamRadioCrashCourse  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

+PacificAirwave144 Oh yeah! A .22 or shotgun is the most fun. If you're dealing with a large infestation you'll need alot of smoke bombs spread out across the yard. Attack on all fronts!

I bought some of these but I haven't mastered opening up the holes yet, so I don't think they're accomplishing much for me...I've tried various tools to probe around, but I always just seem to collapse and compress the hole. I think I must have moles because the mounds in my yard look much smaller than these.
I found a company online that sells and ships gopher snakes...I'm thinking about investing in a couple of them. Supposedly 1 snake will clear an acre and then move on.

Yes, sugar (or sorbitol) is used in a few online formulae for rocket fuel. Those who make smoke bombs often add sodium bicarbonate to slow down the combustion and make it last longer. (I've often wondered about packing some Gopher Gassers in an emergency kit for signaling.)

With that said, there is no natural law that all food must be consumed raw, but still, we eat plenty of meat raw, fish for example. So, we humans are OK eating fish meat? Since it can be consumed raw? Your theory is full of holes.

    PotassiumNitrate, not SodiumNitrate.
Ingredients: 45% Sulfur 45%PotasiumNitrate(flash powder) Carbon and 2% other . Unless that last 2% is sulfuric acid, this is basically a firework smoke bomb. The idea is that it'll consume the little oxygen in the tunnel and then fill it with a sulfur dust and carbon. I've used 5 of these 4packs with no relief of holes and hills. I would review this product again for a before and after.

Squirrels chew on my wood siding and trim boards of the house constantly trying to gain access, mandating repairs and costing me money every year... I have a skunk that burrowed into my pull barn and has been spraying on my stuff in there, do you want to pay the cleaning bills? When I need to go out there and take care of my livestock in the barn and said skunk is wandering around do you want to distract him for me so I don't get sprayed? The skunk also burrowed under part of the floor causing the cement to shift due to the gravel under it being removed, are you going pay to have it repaired? As for moles they can be devastating to the root systems of trees, plants and gardens... Fact of the matter these animals are not harmless when they are causing damage to your property, you just have not experience it or you ignored it...

We have no claws to grab prey (we have digits) and we cant run fast to catch it. If we eat meat raw like a carnivores we will get sick so we cook it. We have a long intestine where carnivores have a short one so the meat gets out fast. We are like monkies. To be continued...............

You use hillbillies as a pejorative. The practice of eating roadkill is common all over the world. You sound a little elitist up there.
You said "chimps occasionally rip up animals". As though they do it for fun only and rarely. They eat meat often and further human man has caught and killed animals with their bare hands. African tribesman have ran marathons in the pursuit of large herds. They run the animals to exhaustion and then kill after the animals collapse under exhaustion.

I'd worried that the gophers would immediately back fill once the smoke started to blast them.

Yeah, try to do the whole thing in a way that isn't very loud or it'll alert the gophers and they'll block up the path as the smoke enters.
You know you have done it right if smoke starts seeping up through different holes around the yard.

Many now use garden blowers at idle speed to push the smoke through the network at a faster pace than the critters can backfill.

Not enough smoke. You'll need to use alot and keep it down in the hole.

That is an interesting idea about the snake. As for digging, just try and remove what dirt you can from the surface and down a bit with a spoon, then use something to push a hole about the diameter of the bomb (as needed).

I've tried every method imaginable to get rid of gophers, water, poison, smoke bombs etc. I suspect these might work if the gopher tunnel system is very small, for instance if it's confined by concrete or something. In my case the tunnel systems are so extensive these don't work at all. The old standby Maccabee trap works the best if used properly.

We have the moles that leave the huge mounds. I tried many things, but the poison worms, Talperid, worked great. I saw a professional working another yard, and I saw in his truck, boxes of Talperid, so I tried it. A box is a little pricey, but not too bad, and you have to use them, or they lose their effectiveness.

You need to use a yard blower to help the smoke fill the tunnels.

I think that's the gopher bomb we used. On Thanksgiving, the gopher popped his little head up and looked around. My relatives thought that was the funniest thing. In order to keep the gopher close to the hole, I put peanut butter and seeds next to it. He popped his head up again and started having his Thanksgiving feast with us. As he was stuffing his furry face, I got the stick ready. I stepped outside, he went back in the hole, I lit it, put it in that hole and quickly buried it. After that, several years went by where I didn't have a gopher problem. Now we have a new neighbor who has a garden and a gopher came over from their side, has been eating the remaining apples on my apple tree, and is not camped out under my fig tree, noshing on it's roots! Time to get the gopher bomb, again!

How about Iguana's ???? They have taken over south Florida, and tunneled under my friends pool deck to the point where its separating from the pool and disappearing into the ground. These should eliminate them too, wouldn't you think?

And there is air... The fuel contains an oxidizer AND its in a gopher hole which contains air.

    • @HamRadioCrashCourse

It’s suppose to be used in mole and gopher tunnels to asphyxiate them. Don’t think it will work in a house. Might catch a fire.

Part 2: So anyway as I was saying ...........when you see a dead animal in the road do you look at it and say "Yum, I want to eat that" or are you prepared to rip a live animal up with your teeth? Carnivores do both. If you put a toddler in a room with an apple and a tame bunny does he try to eat the bunny and play with the apple? Chimps may occasionally rip up an animal but we dont have the ability to catch it or the crazy mindset to do it without man made technology. Can't argue it. Nice dance

joan Jones it's possible the toddler will bite the bunny. They put everything in their mouth, just saying
