I wish I had known the advice about not overbuying before getting my cat, now I have so many extra toys and scratchers sitting around 😅 can’t wait to see your new cat!

Nice to see you back on line ! Any updates on Spike and how he's doing ? After previously owning two Blues in the past, I don't think I would ever want a different bread. Love Blues for their intelligence and laid back demeanor. The last one I owned could even play fetch just like a dog.

Hi, thanks for popping by! Last I heard Spike is still doing very well 🙂 And I totally agree, although I likely won’t be getting an RB this time around he was definitely one of the smartest cats I’ve ever had!

@@katandcatschannel I'm somewhat reluctant to get another cat. My first Blue Smokey died at only 12.5 from diabetes and my second Blue Eli developed a stomach tumor and only made it to 11,5 years of age. Having a sick pet is a very harrowing experience. I think a lot people don't realize when they adopt a pet that you're in it for the long haul and as your pet gets older they will eventually become sick. My sister has a cat that's 18 years old and he's slowed down considerably but still pretty heathy. I guess a lot of it is just luck.

Hi Kat I am looking to adopt a cat or two. You mentioned something about work insurance covering part of an adoption fee. How does that work? I've never heard of such a work benefit.

Hey there! This is honestly the first time I've worked for a company that offered this benefit too---- It was listed under my employee benefit's package, so for me I just submit proof of adoption and then my company reimburses me as long as it's through adopt a pet. It might not be a very common benefit to offer, but I'd reach out to your HR department if you want to double check with your employer!

@@katandcatschannel Thank you for the information. Perhaps companies are starting to acknowledge the strong link between adopting pets and improved mental health (highlighted during the pandemic). Perhaps it is like offering benefits for gym memberships for improved physical health. Regardless it is nice to see employers acknowledge the link between improved health and work productivity.

Is there any way to prevent that cat is oftentimes destroying house furnitures like cotton covered couch etc.

Some people have had luck with two-sided tape! It also helps to have a lot of cat scratching posts around the house/apartment so that they have something else to scratch. :)
