I’ve played football and been watching for 25 years. Mahomes is the greatest pure qb talent I’ve ever seen. The pocket awareness, arm strength, arm slots, progressions I’ve never seen at such a high level at once. I don’t really care if he ever catches Brady in SBs because that’s just an argument made for TV and to keep us talking. He’s gonna get at least a couple more as long as the chiefs build a good roster

Greatness is about playing big in big situations, not just about stats. Mahomes plays big when it matters. He doesn't always win, but he always plays big - and unlike the other young QBs mentioned he's actually won the big game. It's unfair to compare him to Brady right now. Compare the two when their careers are both finished.
Agree. I think Mahomes has the best chance to surpass Brady out of the current crop of QBs, but the odds are still heavily stacked against him. Brady has done a great job taking care of his body, but he has also been lucky to last this long. This is the case with anyone who can play this long in their sport.

I have always scratched my head when the talking heads say "QBa out dueled QBb". The two QBs are ALWAYS facing two different defenses. Why Skip and others fail to grasp such a simple concept is beyond me. No one says "Trent Dilfer out dueled Kerry Collins in the 2000 SuperBowl." But if it's anything less than a LEGENDARY defense, (ie, the 2000 Ravens), the QBs get the credit or blame.
i find it interesting how its always qb vs qb like they see each other on the field. the better evaluation should be how well did they play against the shared teams they played against
@?? i dont recall even mentioning brady v specifically. i was talking a general case when people say two comparable qbs out played one another on the field which is not neccesarily the case. in basketball it is very cut and dry for the most part the two players are on the court simultaneously impacting the game. but lamar jackson isnt trying to sack joe burrow. obviously a qb could have a bad game where they are careless with the football and/or inaccurate. but its an offense vs defense game, a bad defense can make a mediocre qb look like hes the best in the league. hence i think although mahomes had a great game vs teh cardinals that was more arizona being inept, had he done that against the bills it would have been more impressive.
@?? are we really talking overall numbers for a qb that has played 23 years, flip montana and brady in terms of era and he would most assuredly have comparable numbers. brady is easily the most accomplished qb now and probable in the future but numbers is not the metric that i would go by. originally i was making a qb v qb point but since we are talking about brady yes he has been great but similarly very lucky . yes lucky, he had the benefit of playing 18 years in the weakest division in football where the other 3 teams have had combined 20+ different starting qbs in his tenure at NE almost guranteeing him a bye. the years in which he did not have a bye i recall he only made it to the superbowl once. he then leaves not only a division that finally got a good if not great qb in josh allen (but also a conference that got stacked a qb) to go to a weaker conference and a division that ultimately lost drew brees and has two other teams in rebuild mode.

I’ve played football and been watching for 25 years. Mahomes is the greatest pure qb talent I’ve ever seen. The pocket awareness, arm strength, arm slots, progressions I’ve never seen at such a high level at once. I don’t really care if he ever catches Brady in SBs because that’s just an argument made for TV and to keep us talking. He’s gonna get at least a couple more as long as the chiefs build a good roster

Greatness is about playing big in big situations, not just about stats. Mahomes plays big when it matters. He doesn't always win, but he always plays big - and unlike the other young QBs mentioned he's actually won the big game. It's unfair to compare him to Brady right now. Compare the two when their careers are both finished.
Agree. I think Mahomes has the best chance to surpass Brady out of the current crop of QBs, but the odds are still heavily stacked against him. Brady has done a great job taking care of his body, but he has also been lucky to last this long. This is the case with anyone who can play this long in their sport.

It's why it's they are Brady v Manning 2.0. It's why we will see them playing repeatedly in January. Sometime Burrow will breakthrough and sometimes Lamar Jackson will, and eventually so will Mac Jones but the AFC is going to be dominated by the Chiefs and Bills for the better part of the next decade.

It's been over. The only chance Mahomes had to catch him is if he won back to back by stopping Brady from getting 7 then the score is 2 to 6 with plenty of yrs for Mahomes to get close enough to 6 rings. That's a 6 ring gap now vs possibly 4 especially with the elevated talent at the QB position in the AFC. That gauntlet plus wear and tear each yr, I don't think Mahomes will get close enough in rings.
