Just got a good shape pair of the MTX AAL 1540 this month (July 2024). $140 from a local Marketplace seller, in good shape and fully working. With just a couple hours listening time so far, all I can say is wow are they fun. Find the 10”, 12” or 15” version of these and you’ll be glad you did. Usually $100-$150 used, just listen to make sure all drivers work and sound correct. Not audiophile but very much audiofun. You do feel the music and it is alive and so are you. Thanks for the video and your thoughts.
Hey Mark..I remember JBLs with massive horns hanging upside down from the ceiling and drooling over Realistic Mach Ones at Radio Shack. Golden age of Marantz, Pioneer, Sony, Carver, Technics, Sansui, Kenwood and more.....
You might be surprised when you open these up, to find that they don't really have a crossover. Just a capacitor inline to each small driver. I like mine, but they are far from sophisticated.
I love mine. Have them paired up with a pair of Sansui SP-Z7II 16 inch 4way. I was looking for some added bass to go with the clean sound of my Sansui's and they match up perfect. I would like to ask if you could send me a copy of the owners manual that you have.
Thank you for your comments! No idea where the manual is at right now. Any how, these are old speakers and could probably use new surrounds and would really benefit from audiophile grade caps. Sounds like you got a nice set up. I was using a Yamaha receiver on mine and vocals were astonishingly good.
Is it possible, to ask if you could send me a printed copy of the manual you have for those speakers? I have a pair and they've out last my cerwin vega speakers and my JBL speakers I had. Please let me know if you'd be okay with that? Thank you

Hey Zachary, you got a deal man! I was hoping they'd be going up in price. Great head bangers. Thanks for watching!
These along with the AAL124's with 12" woofers were common speakers to see in bars and nightclubs in the late 80's and early 90's.

I still use a set of these i bought 32 years ago. They have worked great as big party blasters, and my home theatre.

@@buckmclean8391 Best crossover is no crossover? Fullest sound I've ever heard was a string quartet on some door sized Magnepans. Ethereal.
