- To kick off/welcome the new year 2024, we will see Express Bus 502 run from Soon Lee Bus Park to Central Boulevard in a loop. At 56.0km, it is the 4th longest loop service in Singapore behind 518, 966, and 858.
Route passes by Pioneer Road North, Jurong West Ave 5/Streets 75 & 64/Central 1/Ave 1, Jurong East Ave 1, Toh Guan Road, and Boon Lay Way before speeding its express sector via Commonwealth Avenue West, Clementi Ave 2/Road, Holland Road, Napier Road, and Tanglin Road, then serving the CBD via Orchard Road, Bras Basah Road, Temasek Blvd/Ave, Bayfront Ave, Central Blvd, and Shenton Way, and returning to Soon Lee Bus Park via express sectors through Keppel Road, AYE, Clementi Ave 6, and Commonwealth Ave West.
(hyperventilates)
Anyways, Happy New Years 2024, my fellow viewers!! :)
Introduced in 1997 between Boon Lay and Hougang, 502 provided a fast connection between the Northeast of Singapore and the west, incorporating long express sectors between Jurong East and Tanglin as well as Dhoby Ghaut and Serangoon.
To improve connectivity for Northeasterners, it was extended to Sengkang Interchange in 2002 and its ITH in 2003.
However, to reduce duplication with the upcoming North East MRT Line, 502 was rationalised and shortened to loop at Suntec City
In preparation for the opening of Boon Lay ITH, 502 was extended to Pioneer Road North in 2005 and Soon Lee Bus Park in 2009 to relieve congestion at Boon Lay Interchange.
In 2010, 502 was amended to ply AYE in its return direction instead of duplicating its Orchard sector and plying PIE in the return journey.
The last major amendment to 502 was in 2013 when it was amended to serve Shenton Way with the opening of MCE.
502 was also notably suspended temporarily during COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Measures.
502 will be operated by SMRT Buses by 2024 as the awarded winner for the Jurong West Bus Package, thus reflecting the SMRT Colour Scheme in the video.

No, it’s still operating by SBS Transit
@@RT-qk6jgI will say this one more time, 502 will be handed over to SMRT Buses later this year!

@metroempress88 ok
I like this very much. Good thing you told me about your channel on my route visuals account. :)
My all-time fav sbst express bus on top of sbst express 506
There’s a mistake: at 2:24 and 2:34 the bus stops is supposed to be listed as Jurong west street 64 not 75
Thanks for the correction ._.
At least it's not about the SMRT Buses thing
502 my fav bus .
Its not only the 4th longest loop, it’s also the literal 4th longest bus route in Singapore woo!
Change your channel back to WLSG Transit
@@RT-qk6jg No… i’m too attached to this name

Look, the handover is gonna be later this year and therefore the route visual is using SMRT Colours as tribute to that.
502 smrt bus
It’s not smrt bus, it’s SBS transit
@@RT-qk6jg Later this month it will be SMRT Buses.
@@PunggolRain how do you know?
... Well, LTA said the Jurong West Bus Package (Boon Lay, Joo Koon, Tuas, Soon Lee) will be handed over to SMRT Buses by September. So 502 will be under SMRT Buses later. Boon Lay is the only so far.
There’s a mistake: bus 502 operates on SBS Transit not SMRT Buses
Next year 502 will be handed over to SMRT Buses under Jurong West Bus Package
502 will be handed over to SMRT next year.
