  • I almost missed my cruise on Celebrity Silhouette due to a big mistake I made on embarkation day. I had looked forward to my first time sailing on Celebrity Cruises cruise ship Celebrity Silhouette and I was not ready for what happened on embarkation day - I thought I was going to miss my cruise! Luckily I did get to embark Celebrity Silhouette and in this video show you all around the cruise ship, one of the Solstice Class ships from Celebrity Cruises.

Zach we used to be like you and fly the same day as the cruise. It took us coming close to missing one cruise and then we actually missed the first day of a 5 day cruise. The flight was easy to get us to Nassau but it finally taught us to fly in a day early for travel in the U.S. and several days early for an international cruise.

Unless we're driving to the port from Orlando, we never fly in the day of the cruise - just not worth the risk. Glad you made it!

Looking forward to 10 nights on Silhouette in October. I did not know she had been "Revolutionized". Your cabin definitely looks more modern than other Solstice class ships.

I always go the night before because "ship happens." As you now got a good taste of. But also because it removes a shipload of stress from the equation. Even when I sailed out of Mobile which is only 2 hours away, I got a room the night before. Went out, had a great dinner, toured the town, got a good night's sleep and in the morning meandered over to the cruise port. I'll never go the day of. Who needs the stress?
    Great video as always.
I just got off a Royal a couple of weeks ago and greatly appreciate that as a solo I get double the points and that they transfer over to Celebrity as well.
And yes, I would book a Celebrity just to walk barefoot in the grass. 😊

You are wise to avoid the stress of arriving on embarkation day! Maybe a lesson learned for me? But honestly probably not 😂

@@ZachtheTravelingMan My last two cruises I've arrived in my embarkation city two nights before embarkation, though in those cases I hadn't been to one city ever (Tokyo) and the other in 17 years (Vancouver). But I would always arrive at least the night before.

You saved the best for last, Zach! We’ve sailed her twice since complete renovation, and she is beautiful! And love that she’s smaller than Edge class. Prefer the solstice & millennium class for the size. Sure hope they update more of those ships. Have fun and look forward to watching this!

Zach, we just recently sailed the Equinox. We enjoyed the ship, cruise and cruise line. We find the Solstice class ships a good value with in the Celebrity ‘world’. One evening they served a wedge salad and I remember in a previous video how much you enjoy “a good wedge”! Thanks again for the videos and information.

Glad you made it! I'm one of those who is going to take the same risk with my next cruise in April. Flying into Miami from Nashville same day of cruise BUT I feel okay about it since it's the first flight out of the gate that morning at 5:40 am. Boarding time isn't until 2:30 (Virgin), so I'm just going to relax but keep my fingers crossed!! 🙂 Also, very interested in budget cruising so will follow along for that. Thx!

This was really interesting to me, because I can relate! I almost missed the bloody boat from San Pedro when I got stuck in a traffic jam and the Long Beach Budget car rental office was closed and I had to leave the car in a cul-de-sac with a note on the windshield hoping I wouldn't get a massive ticket, and then flag down a shuttle bus to get us to the port across the bridge. But it all worked out, though with far, far too much stress!

Loved Silhouette . Did 10 days last year . Loved that ship. Murano is a wonderful restaurant ---definitely a special experience for those considering it. Also the Steak house was amazing. Anyone going to Key West---I rented a bike and it was a great way to see all the architecture and sights. Loved going to the winter white house of Truman and also Hemingway's house. There is a cemetary you can bike to and I went because I read in a travel book that there are some unique headstones there. There is one that reads "I told you I was sick" for a renowned hypochondriac and another one something to the effect "at last I know where my husband is sleeping" for a philanderer. Also I biked to southern most point and start and end of US 1...Rental was close to the ship and I booked online for I think $12 or so. Another time I took the little train all over and that was fun way to see things.

Nice video. Just a reminder. I'm a limo driver down here in South Florida. Go to Port Everglades all the time. Haven't been dropping people at Pier 29 that much this season. It is definitely the least used Pier. And then Pier 21 next. It was interesting to see the interior of 29 as I've never been inside. Actually my two cruises so far were down in Miami despite living in Plantation next to Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for the tour. I am definitely thinking of doing one of those 3 night Celebrity cruises. I wish they would dry dock the Reflection already. Maybe soon.
