The waves aren't as strong and devastating because the force was broken by the coral reefs.... Now, see, how important they are, among other things. So we should really, seriously try our best to save and rehabilitate them

Actually the tsunami went right through the islands of the Maldives...their low level of land is what saved them....the surge just went over and through... If the land mass was higher it would have caused a higher surge...in the Japanese tsunami the various bays and esturies funnelled the tsunami wave and the water rose to 10-15 metres.

      @DidrickNamtvedt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kaylalublublublublubyasyasyas It's of course sad that people died, but from a scientific standpoint I find it fascinating and by "amazing" I was referring to the sheer force of the waves as they came in, despite having weakened slightly by the time they reached The Maldives. Don't get me wrong, it's horrible that lives were lost on this day but the forces of mother nature fascinate me and it's also humbling how we can't stop natural disasters from happening but we can adjust and save lives by making tsunami escape routes, educate new generations and learn from past events.

I was on 'Lohifushi' island at the time. In a hut right on the beach. The force of the water smashed our front door down and smashed the whole room up. As previous posts have said, it wasn't the size of the wave that was the issue, the force of the surge made it difficult to stay on your feet, especially with all the debris (water was about waist deep)
The fear was not knowing how deep it was going to get and having no high ground to run to. The highest part of the island was only 1 metre!

There is no high ground in the Maldives. It's one of the things they are famous for, being the flattest country on Earth. It consists very flat islands made almost entirely of sand on gentle slopes into the sea, which explains why the tsunami didn't rise up into very tall waves like it did when it hit rocky coasts with steep inclines.

number 2 is: coral reefs surrounding all the islands slowing the wave down

The Maldives & Dubai are at the top of my travel bucket list. I often wondered how people who reside in these beautiful surroundings feel about their environment on a daily basis. So its nice to be able to actually ask someone who lives there. For example, I live only minutes from Niagara Falls on the US side. When we have company visit its the first thing they want to visit .After 30+ years of seeing it I feel like its nothing more than a bunch of water falling down to even more water!!! 😀 The Maldives with their sparkling blue water & bioluminescent tide at night , well I think it would be very hard for the novelty of all that to wear off!! Have a great day in your tropical paradise. It was so nice chatting with you.☀️☀️☀️💜💜💜

Cameraman stands his ground even as the water rises - amazing footage. I'd be concerned how high the water would get and how powerful the current would be. Seeing that pier submerge so quickly is truly scary.

Considering the highest point in the Maldives is only ~2,5 m from the seafloor, climbing a tree is pretty much all you can do there in the case of a tsunami I would imagine...
...or you could get on a boat.

    • @itsnotthesamething

      PREPARE FOR LIFTOFF ✈️
      July 24, 2020
I saw Jesus standing in my house, with two angels by His side. I came to Him and said, “Lord, I’m not worthy, but You are worthy.”
He said, “Are you ready to go?”
      “Yes, Lord, I’m ready!”
      He said, “Prepare for liftoff.”
      “Today Lord?”
“Said I not to make haste to prepare for My Arrival?”
“Lord, I’m not concerned for myself. I’m just concerned for all the souls who aren’t ready to meet You. What about them?”
“Just as I said to you, Beloved, he that is righteous, let him be righteous, and he that is holy, let him be holy. But the unbelievers and the profane shall have their portion in the Lake of Fire, which is the second death.”
“Lord, what can I do? Please use me.”
“Prepare for liftoff, Beloved. Dost thou have last words for thy unsaved family members?”
“Yes, Lord. I pray for them, that after we are lifted off they may remain faithful until death, and will not receive the mark of the Beast, which is the ID chip/ tattoo, or vaccine tied to the coronovirus.”
“I have heard thy prayer and have seen thy tears, My daughter. They that are with Me are called and chosen and faithful. Let him who hath ears to hear, hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”
You can read more of my visions and messages from the Lord at kindheartministries.org

Thank u for this video, as often people do not believe that even places that resemble Paradise can be victim of natural disasters, so as much as Maldives seem heavenly only God can stop such disasters ,,,,n in most cases whilst we are so taken away by the beautiful resorts on the sea , its imperative to also take into account that often sea as a " life" of its own ,,,n when its angered or revengeful it just destroys anything n everything in its path having no mercy ,,,,,
