There is quite a lesson here for people like me - those that have not been as diligent in our training. Thanks for the example. Excellent work, appreciate the lessons.
I'm enjoying all the uploads, as I'm also training for a fall marathon. Appreciate the work! I know it'd be much easier not filming anything and just training
I keep saying it, but this is not only a great blog to watch, for any marathon runners out there, these are great sessions to emulate!!! The best part about this video was that you are nailing the fuelling Andy. Great to hear you not talking about "forcing" gels down. One quick question, can we track you at Abingdon?
absolutely amazing , you smashed that workout Andy, now time to turn the final corner before the race and get the tension right to hit the target you want
Another long run workout nailed Andy. You are in fantastic shape. It sounds like you have fuelling sorted too. Treat Abingdon like just another long run, and im sure you will find race pace comfortable and might even be able to kick on in the last few k 👍
Yeah nothing new, I know what to do in my head, I know how I’ll run it, I’ve visualised it enough… just got to hope the weather and illness gods are on my side haha
Three straight weekends of long runs of 23 miles is next level! One day I'll get there, I'm in the taper phase now for the Lisbon marathon that's 6 days out. So excited for it!!
Thanks! I mix and match the sessions in the build up and my only focus is to gently increase time spent at MP… then I bring it back down… I have a collection of sessions that I’ve used before and some new ones that I layer together week after week and build up gently 👍 like 4 x 3 miles is 12 miles, then 3 x 7K is 13.05 miles… doesn’t bother me if the sesh is in miles or K, as long as the time at MP is increasing
I saw your whole playlist of tips of running and also follow you on strava, I also saw your 2024 running goals video Please make a brief video on how you manage your whole goals of 2024 complete month wise mean that how your whole year training cycle look like
Awesome long run Andy! Well done! Quick question, what do you do for drinks on these? I get so dehydrated these days I’d struggle without my hydration vest but then that makes it hard to do any pace work!
Thank you! Honestly, I sometimes stash a water bottle on the loop so I don’t have to carry it but now the temps are lower I can get away without drinking!
Just wrap up those great vibes from the last six weeks or so of the training block. It seems that now you've told yourself this is your last marathon shot for another year or so you've got the renewed focus, rather than the relentless grind of spring / autumn / spring / autumn.
hey buddy ...you are still running in the pro3s lol amazing ! (i just bought a 2d pair, discounted one), the pro4s will just come out on jan25, a lot of shoetubers had got them for Berlin. Hope Adidas will send you a pair to get your honnest review! ;) 😀🇫🇷
Ive used Coros the last year and the only negative thing with it is its a slight delay with the current speed on the watch, about 10-15 sec. To get around that problem you need a Coros pod. I dont know if other brands are better when it comes to that detail since Coros is the only running watch i’ve used. Thanks for the quality videos it will be nice to implement some of these long runs in the spring leading up to Copenhagen marathon for me. Good luck on your marathon. /🇸🇪🇸🇪
Thanks! Yes please do use some of them in the build up to Copenhagen! That’s good feedback thank you, I haven’t noticed that yet but I’ll pay attention to that now you’ve mentioned it 🤝
@@joakimlandhage5611 There's still a slight delay, but honestly I can't see why it would ever be an issue. If you are speed up and slowing down all the time during a race, then something is wrong. I run a steady pace and never noticed the delay.
Awesome 👍🏻🙏 u have it! U are so on right way! I can tell u u are in sub2.40 shap! But am little worried about ur gel , u should only go for 3 gel in that race! Like 12 km 22km and 32 km. U carbload 1-2days before and u dont run of ur fuel .. many take too much gel in a race and the stomach cant not handling .. I have 1 race I only took 1 gel after halfway and I feel strong all the way to the finish! And in that race I run 2.21. But u are in 2.40 shape🙏 be calm and trust ur process. Dont do to much hard work now and have some only 30min jog days. All the best now in ur finish process! ❤🙏

You are kicking it I think you’re going to smoke your marathon. But I really think your shoes might be done , I remember when carbon plate shoes first came out said they probably only last 100 miles😂
Do you ever do steady long runs? All your long runs seem to be more speed focussed interval training with fast reps and then significantly slower float reps rather than doing 20 miles in one go which might be a better race simulation for your digestion and fuelling as you don't get rest periods. Obviously you're much faster than I am but did wonder.
Yes I do loads of just steady long runs, usually in base phase or in the early buildup phase. From 8/10 weeks out of the goal race they all become race specific long runs 🤘
@@TheFODRunner cracking! I *might* (will) buy that new fleece half zip top as it looks mint. 10k done this morning, there's some discomfort now but this will ease and I'm using resistance bands even whilst at my desk to work lazy muscles. I SHALL get to the start line on the 20th.
do you not think this long run is way to long and that you've just dug yourself a hug hole? Don't understand why you need to run this far and so fast at the same time.
Appreciate your thoughts... and I can understand why you think that! 1) No hole was dug... felt really good at the end... and in terms of speed? most of it was at MP, the rest was just "quicker" and in total, that was only 6k... yes it was the biggest and most specific long run workout of the block but thats what you do 3 weeks out. 2) I've done this one before and plenty of others similar too this, its not new to me to run steady paces and marathon paces or even faster than MP. The final 8 weeks of a block are about getting marathon specific, so thats what i've done :-)
Andy you are in incredible shape. This is looking really good for your marathon. Look forward to seeing how you get on! Best of luck.
Thank you so much 👊
