I LOVE this kind of things. I am always so interested in the point of view and experiences of the actors regarding the filming.
Armie's dry self-aware critique of his character is EVERYTHING (to be fair to Maxim though, he did spend many many years wedded to someone who was essentially a psychopath, so maybe we can cut him a little bit of slack for not doing too well on the communication front. He was still, admittedly, an ass though)

Without Armie’s acting and great personality, this film would never account to anything. The director made the right choice picking Armand Hammer to play Maxim. The second part of it though was thoroughly robbed of Armie’s acting on purpose, and that’s unfortunate.

This movie explains so well, how women (Lily James/super) have themselves killed by theyr charismatic narcistic partners (Armie Hammer /perfection!). I just wish the ending message would be a different one. My suggestion: Run for your life girl, because we all know, that soon there will again be no other option for this poor man, than killing you. No matter how hard you try to match his expectations.
