Ive never cared for Ms. Barrera, I think her acting is wooden and non- expressive but I was willing to watch this for Paul Mescal. I think I can skip it. Jamie Dornan sure dodge that bullet. As per usual, loved this review 😉

Wow, this was brutal. From what was described, the only thing in common with Bizet's Carmen is the title. It may be good for a group viewing for the laughs.😂
At no point did Paul promote this movie after the initial screening lol. I suspect his team told him to forget it ever happened.. Pity, he has made great choices and is coming off a career high. I imagine he probably liked the challenge of a musical and perhaps didn't want to say no because Jamie Dornan personally recommended him. I will finish on Paul by saying I knew he would be out of his depth here from the trailer alone. He just looked off. He is a faaaaaar better singer than he is a dancer though. Melissa Barrera? I really want to like her as an actress. She always comes across really well as a human being and she is gorgeous.. but I never feel captivated watching her. It's like there is something missing. Both she and Paul got along really well during the making of this movie, but you'd never know it on camera. I imagine the script and direction had a lot to do with that.
This absolute ROAST has only made me want to see this movie; it sounds hilarious. Trixie Matel out of drag in a rap battle boxing match? Give me enough Tequila shots and I’m sure it’ll be fun.

First time I've ever walked out of a movie theatre. Couldn't stand more than ~10 minutes of this film. The last straw for me was, "well I don't speak Deer, har har har!"
I saw Carmen at a small artsy theater when it came out. I hated it, and this review was the first one I watched just to confirm I wasn't crazy in not "getting it"! 🤣
