You could also put some brush around your pond to divert them over to where you could get a better shot . Just a thought

Great to see you you setting TREE stands and not putting out enclosed blinds.
I also hope to see you and your crew hunt without putting up fences to " funnel" deer.
Last season I knocked off around 10,000 spines off a Honey Locust tree because it was “in the perfect spot.” Well, it was and I got my chance at one of my shooters that I targeted from the summer. Unfortunately, I messed up the opportunity. Still licking my wounds but I will be back for round 2 if he’s still around. Next topic Lee, is the cell camera ban for hunting going to affect you? It is on public for me as I use trail cams to TARGET specific bucks along with hours of scouting.
