I just want you to know that you brought me back into hunting after I lost my brother in a gun accident during gun season back in 2001 I couldn’t even be in the woods or even close to the woods cause I always thought of him well my other brother wanted to start hunting, so I decided I couldn’t allow him to do it by himself so I went with him. We both actually started learning how to hunt and how to control our activities and we came out great and I just want to thank you.
Over time I learned to appreciate your channel. Even though you have plenty of great land, you still go through the struggles us average hunters go through. Makes it genuine.
Thanks Richie. The journey is the reward, as they say. I love my farm, but I would still love the journey no matter where I was hunting. Good luck to you.
Thank you? Funny comment. Bills channel is pretty good. A break from the Midwest whitetail channel and created a pretty cool follow along start from scratch channel and property. I’m a fan.
@@superpoacher6711I agree I used to watch them but they are just so scripted and it seems more like acting and selling than hunting but hey what do I know....
Thank you. It’s refreshing to see someone harvest deer in the timber and not sitting over a food plot for once. I know food plots are effective, but I think this style of hunt is more in touch with what most of us experience.
Thanks Dave. I really appreciate the comment and the support. Yes, all styles of hunting have their place. There are times when the deer are hitting the food and if you want to kill one, you need to be there. It is really fun to sit back in the timber though. That is also my favorite style of hunting. Good luck.
Great episode to see, Thank you, I finally had a chance to look back at one of your earlier hunts, I must say your cool as a cat, that's what experience, knowledge, and confidence brings you, Great job with shot placement, easy recovery, no suffering for the animals, cant ask for much better! Great buck, Ethans target buck was definitely the bullie on the block, tuff guy, big thick neck, big bodied, he was going after any Whitetail sounds he heard, but I must say, I was very happy you didn't take a risky shot , I was saying to myself if I would of tryed to pull off some stupid shot praying for a good outcome, and of course from experience, that's when you never let that arrow fly, any doubt, hold off, tomorrow's another day, ! ill have to catch up and see if you killed that flyer buck, congratulations on a great buck and doe, be safe!
Thanks Keith and good luck on your remaining hunts. It has been a surprisingly slow rut for us here. Some action, but the amount of bucks we have seen in daylight has been very low compared to what we believe is in the places we hunt.
Nice buck nice doe. 80lbs 32” draw. That’s a man’s bow for sure. Ethan I just did the same thing in Ohio. Just got back , spent 2 weeks. Hunted day light to dark for 11 days straight. Got my opportunity at a 160 and one limb saved his life. He came in at 5. Caught me off guard and the sun was still beaming in my eyes. Had to try and duck to get below the limb. He was at 48 yards. Didn’t have lanes cut that far. One limb saved that bucks life. The mature bucks just know! I guess I’ll just challenge you to table tennis. Keep them coming guys. Hang in there fellows. Dream big!! Luke 9:62
Congrats on a great "unexpected" buck, Bill! I've been watching your videos for as long as I can remember, and to me, you seemed just a little more excited than usual about harvesting this buck. All that hard work, strategizing, and long sits finally paid off for you. Due to some life circumstances, I'm not able to bow hunt this season, so I've been living vicariously thru your videos, along with several other top bow hunters on You Tube. Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming! It's helping me live my passion and make it thru this season. Best of luck!
Beautiful buck Bill. Keep after him Ethan. Our gun season starts here in Michigan on Wednesday. After that the deer are never the same. I’m lucky if I even see a 2.5 after that. They go almost 100% nocturnal. 😢
I’ve been watching you for years. I liked how switched to the timber when your deer wasn’t coming to food. They move to timber and thick cover when they’re after those does. Another great video and hunt. Congratulations.
Got my biggest buck to date on November 7th and I got it on film. It’s a great day. This buck also disappeared right after he lost velvet and I accidentally ran into him a mile and a half away and got it done. Thanks again for the great content.

I’m not giving up yet! There’s still a lot of season left, and with any luck we’ll hopefully be wrapping a tag around the flyer buck before it’s all said and done
Great episode, Bill. I'm really enjoying the channel and learning a lot especially about creating good whitetail habitat. I lived in Iowa for 4 years and hunted near Chariton and also in western IA near Greenfield. Great memories.
Thanks. I appreciate it. My southern Iowa farm was just a bit east of Chariton over south of Albia. There were a lot of big deer in that area. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day.

Congratulations Bill that's an awesome buck! It's been a tough season here on public in central Iowa. The pressure really picked up steam after Halloween and I've yet to have a single encounter with a buck this season. Fingers are crossed something can change soon.
You were in the right spot at the right time to catch a hot doe - Try the same spot again today. It is all about being close to a hot doe at this time. if so you will think the rut is crazy. If not, you will think there aren't any bucks within 10 miles.

Somewhat, but the wind was blowing pretty hard so everything in the woods was moving and rattling around. I was waiting for those conditions and that was the reason I chose that spot. Bill - You talk a little in this video about encountering a surprise buck in your hunting area. In a somewhat related question, do you feel that when you kill a buck in a given area another Buck will always slot into that spot? I've heard others say this occurs based on the environment having all the criteria bucks look for.
I am not sure if it is related to location features or just the general dispersal of bucks on a piece of land, but I do think that any given area can only support a certain number of aggressive dominant bucks. There are things you can do to improve that (namely making it thicker). If one leaves or is removed, another buck that was not the king will move into that area from somewhere else - even during the season. I have seen that happen several times. Good question.
Great job. You put in the hard work, more than most. I enjoy watching videos where guys still hunt in the timber and not just blinds on food plots. I know you use some blinds, but you still use woodsmanship and kill them from stands in the woods!
Thanks Woodsdog. I try not to have too much land stuff in the hunting series. I keep those series separate so the guys that have land have info/content that is really focused on their needs without bogging down the hunting series. Have a great day and I appreciate the support and comment.

Looks like southern new york woods? Nice job video👍
Thanks Rick. Have a great day.
Great job. You put in the hard work, more than most. I enjoy watching videos where guys still hunt in the timber and not just blinds on food plots. I know you use some blinds, but you still use woodsmanship and kill them from stands in the woods!
Awesomeness
Always nice when a surprise buck comes in (even though it was a forgotten one)
That one powerful bow 80lbs & 32 draw length 325fps???
Thanks. Maybe arrow speed is not quite that fast. I shoot 525 grain arrows. Good luck.
I always enjoy your stuff. I don't have land like you do so that stuff isn't as appealing to me as your strategy stuff. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Woodsdog. I try not to have too much land stuff in the hunting series. I keep those series separate so the guys that have land have info/content that is really focused on their needs without bogging down the hunting series. Have a great day and I appreciate the support and comment.
Way to grind it out!! Great job 👍
I only like real deer hunting videos I love your videos and I really enjoy the hunting public guys also ❤🤘

Bill, im trying to figure out who makes the 4 wheeler vehical thing you ride around on. I would be great for us. please let me know
User, it is an Xidar. We are testing them. They are cool, but not perfect. A few smaller issues related to ground clearance (very minimal) and some basic quality control stuff, but definitely work looking at. Here is their site: www.goxidar.com/
Hi Bill, what is the name of those 4 wheeled scooter are those in this video?

happy for you!
Thanks Jim. Much appreciated.
Great Job!! Great vids as usual. How is Jordan doing? Feeling stronger?
I think she is getting there. She has been at the gym working out recently so I hope she is ready to go again by late November.
Can i ask what outfit you are wearing ? is it the Zone 7 dialed in or the Coldfjall
That is the Zone 7 jacket and pants. I usually wear that jacket or the Zone 7 Parka. When it is chilly, I wear the Coldfjall bibs too. Good luck. codeofsilence.com/
