It's the first kit I like even more than Craviottos. Amazing that the combo of bubinga and Tama's shell design resonates so beautifully. I can see why Erskine went to Tama. Bubinga is a badass species for drums.
dare i say steve is a living buddy rich?! love the playing man. Definitely getting at least of one these snares at some point. such a beautiful pop to the snare, all the drums sing too
So the Gretsch in my opinion has similar feel and sound to things like a Ludwig Legacy, an old Slingerland, obviously Gretsch, basically it sounds and feels like 3 or 5 ply drums. The Tama bubinga drums just feel different and it might take some getting used to. It's hard to describe but of course a strange wood may bring a strange feel. However, bubinga might just have the highest tuning range of any wood. It can go high and still hold tone and character as seen in this video, and it can retain tone at tunings other drums would be a floppy paper sound at. In my opinion you can't beat bubinga, but with import bans and Tama practically having a monopoly on the wood (at least from big name companies, most others dropped production after the import ban, Tama somehow gets around it), the price will surely be the one thing holding you and everyone else back.
...and kids, this is what happens when you learn your rudiments. Of course you will never be able to afford any of the drums in this video, but you'll sound good on anything.
More drumming and less cymbals....The way drum demonstrations should be. A lot of other drum demonstrations, have too much cymbal work. Leave that for the cymbal demos.
I can see that Steve definitely enjoying the drum. He just can't stop playing^^
nice to listen and watch someone who can really play the drums for a change
They sounded fantastic…..and fabulous playing as always!
I like the sound. You are a master drummer.

That bass drum sounds perfect.
theres a guy who practiced after class and the end result is what you see before you NICE JOB Mister Maxwell 👍😎
I like the attack of the bubinga a bit better (than the maple) particularly on the snare. Great playing Steve!
Wow! That IS a very complete bop sound.
great steve loved the drums and your playing'''''''
Sounds great to me
Steve is the MAN!
Wow, do these sound great. FANTASTIC drummer too. The real deal.
Steve you are GOLD.
That snare sounds perfect. Can I get just the snare?
I like the SMACK of that snare, and great tom tone too.
Better sounding than the maple version, I like both, though.
I agree superior tone.

Let's also remember that can really play as well. Beautiful stick control!... Steve, what is that ride cymbal on this kit? I think I want it.
It looks like a Sabian Artisan
I Love Gretsch but fuck this is amazing...
These sound awesome! Has anyone had a chance to A/B them against a GRETSCH USA Custom kit in terms of sound and feel? Thanks.

nice playing steve! what do these kits start at price wise?
Is that a 6.5 or 5.5 deep snare?
Those sound good enough to eat Steve! I love them.
how much for this kite if you still have them
Steve, Hannah Francis is "Kelly Birks."
what ride cymbal is that?
Tama certainly make great drums....and not USA made...
