I would sooner recommend Kaldellis' The New Roman Empire. Came out earlier this year, and it's a work that covers the whole thing from start to finish, written by the best scholar currently in the field in very accessible language.

i love how turin plays with the underdog civs and makes it work. I been trying to make Byzantines work but its a hard civ. Turin makes them look fun using that trample all over.
Hey Turin,since you asked about recommendations about ERE history books,Edwin Pears book about the Eastern Roman Empire is a very good one,haven't read it myself though i've asked historians about their opinion and have highly recommended it.Also,since you seem to be heading to the ERE deep hole,if you want any help with pronouncing the units like the ''limitanei'' etc. in a more proper greek way,i'll be glad to help!! It's the least i can do,your videos are great fun!

I ❤ Turin's haggard strats and game knowledge such as not knowing you cant convert siege 😂. I enjoyed watching all the repeated attempts to get the huihui pao's. Maybe relic will change this in the future
Honestly, I don't' know what this game is nor have I actively looked for it. TH-cam just seems to always automatically play this game and your channel while I'm asleep. I'm really starting to get curious to what this game is though.

So to delay and possibly prevent walls is to carry dead animal carcasses with the scout upgrade to wall breaches and drop them
