if that question is not rhetorical, then here is my answer-----the money aspect of it to the side, alcohol consumption is ingrained not only in American culture but also in the culture of the places in Europe that most Americans came from in the first part of our history.

    • @kellikelli4413

Here's a good reason. Most people don't want the recreational version because that causes way too many problems with addictive tendency people in their states (who tend to also use other means of emotional escape).
if that doesn't make sense to you, you may be one of the additive types.
Florida voters also didn't want gambling because it tends to attrack high risk gamblers losing their life savings and assets, and those who feed off that environment (criminals, etcetera).
Keeping gambling only on cruise ships was a better option.
Maybe they should do that with pot 🤔 (only on cruise ships not on land).
When peoples minds and bodies are impaired by substance abuse they cause problems.

My thoughts exactly it's not all good but it's not all bad either. Kids shouldn't be using it but grown adults should have a choice if they want to smoke just like they have a choice to drink or not.

@Jim by that logic, so does water and milk, sugar and alcohol, and cigarettes, as most people try alcohol or cigarettes before cannabis, realise one's better than the others, then realise the better one is illegal, and stop trusting the government and their laws on what you should and should not injest, thus once again, as usual, laws cause all crime, and exacerbate the problem which is not understood by it's opposers.
It's easy to be conservative if you're completely ignorant, then once you learn a little you become more liberal; by definition, as to learn anything you must enter the unknown, which is progression, then if you're fearful regarding your experiences or perceptions, you will become overly overtly conservative again, who scared you? what are you scared of?

    • @mrheckles1972

@Jim lol... actually alcohol usually leads to drug use. Also a lot of the crap doctors give for pain leads to hard drugs as well. You need to get educated on marijuina and how it actually is safer than alcohol or pills that are given to us. Weed can and is used for majority of ailments plus it can be used recreationally without worry of overdose.

Weather the marijuana proponents want to admit it or not when you smoke marijuana or if you use the chemical for pain you will find out that you get uncontrollable vomiting hyperemesis is a syndrome that goes right along with it if you know someone that's using it and there's throwing up all the time they should not be on the stuff I totally disagree with the use of marijuana for any purpose there are many other fine alternatives out there absolutely is not needed and it is too highly risky with other drugs.

I think this is a good discussion. Would we rather have kids smoking weed or getting drunk? (Although they will probably do both regardless). Many people I know have tried it but a lot of them just didn’t like it and quit, with no long term effects. Some people click with it, like me, but I seem to be able to be productive. There’s also studies suggesting that the cannabinoid system in our bodies repair itself fully after 30 days after no use, regardless of how much a given person has been using it for.
