Natural World: A Wolf Called Storm
Storm is an extraordinary wolf - the head of a pack in Canada's frozen north that hunts the giant buffalo herds. This pack came to fame in Frozen Planet, and now cameraman Jeff Turner spends a year with Storm and his wolf family, learning how they survive in this harsh wilderness and whether Storm can pass his hunting skills on to the new generation of wolf cubs.

Imagine just casually swimming and then you see a pack of wolves swimming towards you
😬
Just keep swimming. They cant kill you, drag you and swim at the same time if the distance is that long. Or just go under the water. If one attacks you, get deep, then pull him from a leg into the water, wait 15 secs, that's it. We humans can take care of them in the water pretty easy.
@@MateoKupstysChica when did you fight against 10 wolfs in water the last time
@@juli5765 you're right. it may not be that easy. I'll explain my point of reference. I have swam with dogs and have observed their mechanics in the water. I consider that we are much better equipped for the water than them when it comes to fighting. It's hard to kill a wolf with bare hands on land. Much harder if there is a pack. On water, it's easier. This considering that you must have a minimum of ability for this, like knowing some basic free-diving, and being able to swim for a while. Wolves have for sure much more stamina for swimming, but they cannot dive or swim backwards like us, that's their flaw. If I were chased by wolves, and I get the chance to jump in a deep lake, I'll do it. I think I would have more chances to survive in the water than in the land. But well, I might be wrong.
@@MateoKupstysChica surly easier to survive a attack in water but i guess, like you sad, you would just drown cause they chase you until you can't no more
This wolf storm is a born leader wow it's my third video watching this wolf and I'm amazed.
The stamina of a wolf is bloody amazing really
Reminds me of Hyenas they also have impressive stamina
@ViperSA problem is with us humans is that nearly everything we have to run from can catch us way before stamina becomes a factor. 😔
ViperSA Intelligence doesn’t really play a factor if you’re being hunted and chased by wolves or any other large predator. Most people would panic, so they wouldn’t be using their intelligence, but rather instinct.
ViperSA But what happens when you take those away? Humans are pretty useless without their fancy tools. Also, about us having one of the most impressive levels of stamina in the animal kingdom. Perhaps in the past when we were required to hunt for our food and travel, but most people nowadays are unfit and weak, thanks to our fancy tools. Also, most people lack any knowledge of how to survive without those tools, so...
@ViperSA it's not about having them or taking them away! It's simple Humans as in just the flesh because that's all we are.. Are pretty low down the chain.. With tools it's a complete different story.. But just humans the flesh without tools we'd get killed by loads of creatures..
Admirable wolf pack intelligence & indurance. To mommy Susie turning back to land for the safety of her pups due to rough seas. Amazing adult wolves indurance swimming in cold & rough seas.
Hey look, there's a camerman. Let's eat him.
ItsDavis 772009 your rude
Yeah rude
;-;
Especially since this seems to be click bate. "Will Storm find food for his pups in time?" Where's the rest of the story, cameraman? :) Watch more videos from... Click bate is not cool and I'm not inclined to support organizations who participate in it.
😆
It's amazing the lengths that these animals go to feed their pack and the devotion with the wolves that they have for one another :]
Black Wolf , wolves have a lot of stamina and that why able to go long distances and far off, I think the canids are the most intelligent and successful hunters of the right size pack and when food is not scarce
“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”
Ned "Fookin" Stark.😁
GoT is shit. They ruined it.
Shut uppp.
"The Lannister's send their regards".
Don't remind me of the end bro. It's too painful
Starving? Reminds me of my citizens
Dark 😂
At least wolves can hunt freely.
@@Abu-Aley 😂😂😂😂
This was so funny, you could only top if you were Maduro
Then I shall conquer your little empire
Swimming across a lake that is almost three kilometers wide. Wow . They are just unstoppable.
Wolves are, and always will be, my favorite animal! 💕🐺
until the eat you
So the dog is your favorite animal too
QuintessaWolfPrincess Why he and not other one?
lyfe 1zruff God bless you to learn respect!
Апостол Павел he or she is just saying sum 🤦🏾♀️
Starving wolves go for a swim
its lucky they're never in africa
Storm: yo pack, here's an idea.... LETS SWIM ACROSS AN ENTIRE LAKE!!! :D
Susie: no. Come on kids.... >:|
The rest of the hunting wolves: YEAH BOI!!!!!!!!!!
0:58 The wolf comes from the left of the screen and turned on the Jets. That dog swimming fast.
1:40 .. OH MY GOD .. it looks like they're crossing the ocean .
We need more of Storm and his pack!
Storm is a strong leader shes amazing..
You couldn't think of a better name than Suzie for such a majestic creature? really?
That's it. Living in the wild really is one long game of "Oregon Trail".
I haven't heard that name in years. I just got some crazy flashbacks from my childhood. Those were good times.
Humans can learn a lot from this magnificent animals
smh lol ok white person...
@@JasonPhillip303 Not wanting to learn? smh lol ok black person...
@@crusaderofthelowlands3750 i guess we can learn to swim across a body of water in serach for food....maybe learn to walk on all fours
@@JasonPhillip303 I'd be happy to give you a list of things humankind has learned from wolves, but if you're not interested I won't bother.
Your call.
Franco Lenin yes thank u we need to save wolves I witch more people would understand that
Nature is the only thing I can stand watching on the BBC, and what a magnificent animal
Man hunted all their natural food leaving nothing for them
Thanks for using Kilometers instead of Miles...no googling today😎
hhhhhhhhhhh me to
Now I gotta google because I go by miles 😂😂😂😂
Oh my God it's not that hard. .6 miles is a kilometer. A mile is almost twice as long.
Tit Cheese thank u
NextBig Thing ...this is from the BBC this is what they use in their country kilometers...does National Geographic use kilometers...no they use feet an miles to determine a distance bc their American not British....if your to lazy to Google then suffer in your own ignorance
It’s so amazing how beautiful German shepherds look so similar.
They also remind me of my Akita.
Such character. Power and beauty
Amazing creatures! They're survivors in this crazy world.
WOW, this shows true resilience.
If we had another word for stamina it would be 'wolf'.
If I had to choose one animal as my favorite I go with the wolf
So would I.
Tundra Wolf yes thank u wolves are my favorite dogs to
Always protect these beautiful creatures, ALWAYS.
Lucky Ducky - No need. There are 400.000 (grey)wolves in the world. One wolf kills in average 80 individuals (deer species) each year. Which will give you 32 milion killed deers. The catch is they only need to kill 5 deers for eating. 30 milion deers goes to total waste with the wolves. But those deers could easily feed 100 milion people.
We need to protect the deers!
@@patrikpersson9364 Do you know that not all 400000 grey wolves in the world feed on deer? Only the larger wolf subspecies feed on deer while the smaller wolves feed on smaller prey like mice, hares, and other smaller animals. Some wolf subspecies such as the red wolf are even considered endangered because there are only 50 red wolves left in the wild so no we have to protect wolves as well.
Thank you BBC Earth, very cool.
Vicious Saito then why are you here?
@Vicious Saito no need to share your experience here
Where is Sir David Attenborough?
We miss his legendary voice...
Oh yes we do, specially when there is a man with this horrible pronunciation problem like this one. Just awful!
They are adorable with their heads poking out of the water.
Survivors coexist.
The rest become legends.
Yet another BBC clickbait: no hunting wolves, just a few swimming wolves
When the snows fall and the white winds blow the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.
I love the fact that they help each othet
Where can one find the whole episode on Storm & Susie & their magnificent pack?

Excellent video, Thank you BBC for showing the world in more beautiful way. ..
just how amazing these animald are...
A wolf named storm.. Great documentary!!!
BBC, I love the music to this video - it fits perfectly, yet it's totally different than the usual sound.
1:30 Amazing how this camera could show us the wolves from this whole far distance
So why is this video called 'Wolves go on the Hunt' and not 'Wolves go for a swim' lol
"Wolves go swimming" shouldve been the title.
that’s a huge ass lake
Beautiful, no seen before!
Amazed to hear wolfs would even try to swim several kilometers at a time.
Storm is badass. Dude is alpha asf
Great work there, thanks for the content!
They are so strong! And they are smart.
Think about it they are very interesting creatures , fascinating indeed when they hunt they don't give hand signals for their play , they don't huddle up and bark plays , they just simply look at each other and know their role . Like they talk telepathically
Survival at its best
Watching something look like they’re drowning gives me anxiety
That thumbnail was really cool, since it kinda looks like the body of the wolf is only skeleton :D
YES!!! STORM IS BACK!!!!!
Brave 🐺 wolfes
Riaz Yousaf *wolves
The maternal instinct vs the survival instinct.
Are they not one in the same
Lovely white wolves on the water.
speaking of cold weather it was super chilly today in Arizona. Never felt this cold ever
Wildlife, amazing
Such amazing animals.
The birds above: HAH suckers you have to swim.
Какие умные и сильные звери! Таким лучше не попадаться 😳
these videos are so interesting to me idk why
Many of my childhood nightmares involved finding myself in open bodies of water.
Parabéns BBC. É um video magnífico. Muito especial.
Love ur vids🖤
cute wolf
I did not know wolves could swim and they swim so much better than me 😲 Wolves are scary but hungry swimming Wolves are scarier in fact that would be a good scary movie.
Quality content!
Wolves eat and then regurgitate the food for their puppies, to eat! Jeff Daniels is a wonderful narrator and man!!
Ah if only my comrades had the opportunity to hunt also.
Amazing shots! Where's the full episodes? I would love to watch it!
Superb video..amazed

Wolf very beautiful animal👍
Hope this pack end up with a big meal soon.
They could swim very good ☺️
first time seeing wolves swimming
When you now wish they would've caught that buffalo calf from the last video..... #conflicted
I love Wolves beacuse I Love starks.....
These guys have more synergy than me and my team
You can totally see how... if you... suddenly yadooled like a wolf and had 20-100 lbs of raw meat with you, you could domesticate these wild warriors.
I didn't see any hunt goes on but nonetheless great video, Wolves are skillful swimmers
wolf quest flashbacks 😩
Hold up. Are these guys the infamous wolves from frozen planet that hunted bisons?
Three km swimming unbelievable stamina
Imagine wolves become skinwalker
So they were going to swim back with food for pups ?
