I run a Victorian Changeling game & the Verbena, Changelings & Fianna Garou are basically one in the former Celtic areas, esp. in the British Isles.
Can't help but notice this is not the Celestial Chorus, but I am glad you are continuing this series. I ahve a soft spot for the Verbena, their blood and piss kinda attitude towards magic makes em just great characters in a game that can get insanely cerebral.

@@TheHermeticHipster welp I'm 1000% new to the game and it is still a little confusing to me so our storyteller is allowing us to assemble that little by little through gameplay, we started as unaffiliated recently awakened characters a few weeks ago!
She believes everything has their own energy and mixing her own energy with the energy of the elements/spirits/divine through symbolic tools/symbols/nature elements is how she does Magick.
She uses meditation and runes a lot, also crystals and geometric symbols. Less often she uses elements, plants and fluids.
She just started her training as Verbena.

@@TheHermeticHipster we are currently brainstorming tho it seems to be in Scandinavia where we live since people want to feel connected to the world which is a little harder to do when it's across the globe.
@@sandranielsen7178 Thats fun, I always start with the setting for new games, it's so important? Have your players chosen trade or gun a RP it out?
@@TheHermeticHipster I usually have an idea of the environment I want to put the players in but then when and where is fine to leave vauge for me (within certain parameters ofc)
They have chosen! So far we have a VA Hermetic Euthanatos and Orphan :3 the Orphan is a first time player and she wanted to RP out her tradition choice

What I don't really understand is the difference between Verbena and Dreamspeakers, they seem to use similar culturally passed down techniques and animism
Yeah... I wanted to talk more about this in this video, but at it's core, it's the eurocenterism of the writers giving more prominence to European mages than any lore factor. :/
@@TheHermeticHipster right on thanks, I'm only vaguely interested in WoD, I havent played a game but mages are best faction imo and Verbena is closer to what I am IRL.
My view with an anthropology background is Dreamspeaker is more paleolithic spirit/shaman centered, Verbena is more Neolithic earth (farming) polytheistic ritual centered.
For instance a European Dreamspeaker would be more Paleolithic hunter gatherer Europe vibe like the Clan of the Cave Bear. Whereas a European Verbena is more the Neolithic to medieval ie agricultural cycle Druid/witch vibe like Mists of Avalon.
To translate to Africa, the pre-polytheistic animism of certain tribes vs Egyptian or Yoruba or Voudoun which are agricultural (yes i get the latter is only part african).
I don't know enough about different Amerindian groups to explain the difference between a native American Dreamspeaker vs Verbena, but I expect it's similar.

Great Channel. I'm interessted with the folkore of your area where are you from exactly ? And you made a mistake the witch hunt was not directed by the church ( people confuse witch hunt and inquisition who is not exactly the same thing) it was a collective hysteria after the black plague ( and sorry for the potential english mistake it's not my first language )
Can you make a character that's verbena and dream-speaker? I wanna be a fae mage mixing celtic and native american mechanics.

as a norwegian. i can safely say i despise the curuption of norse imagry.
on a lighter note. annyone got tips for how to find mage games? roll20 is rather sparce and i vant to try and play the game as something other than the GM

It's a tricky one tbh, there are discord groups that might help. Look up mage the podcast as they have a great community that might give you some direction.
