    Hey Peter, I appreciate the tutorial very much! Thank you for this.
    But as I am watching I'm wondering why you didn't add a torus mesh instead and just adjust that to size to make the band!
    In addition, I would have loved to see the 3d printed result of this blender model because you mentioned you were going to despite the prongs over-lapping.
    I appreciate everything. Thank you once again.
    *EDIT* So...I can see why you didn't use the torus. Hahah I can see it brings up a different kind of design to the band in comparison to your rectangular shape. However I'm still curious to hear your input on the matter if its more efficient or what have you.

    • @watchesandjewelry
      @watchesandjewelry  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol. Yes. The torus gives a difference style mesh. It has its place however.

    When you are applying modifiers, I don't have that option show up in the menu. I've racked my brain countless times and gone back, step through step, and can't seem to find what I've missed. It seems as if Blender isn't picking up any modifiers, where did I go wrong?

    Thank you so much Peter for share this info . I'm a bit confuse about the ring size. Does the line inside the band indicates the size or the line has to be outside the band to indicate the size . Maybe you can explain a bit more in detail. Thanks

    • @watchesandjewelry
      @watchesandjewelry  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll explain here, and then in another video also. If you use JewelCraft to size the ring, then you want to have your shank design (the box in this case) curve along the perimeter of the JewelCraft Circle. The Circle should also be on the “Inside” of your shank. Double check the size however. I have manually added curves and sized them to a specific millimeter and they print fine. Meaning that I’ve not been more then a 10th of a size off. 1/2 size means that either I screwed up, or that the sizing is a bit off. My finished prints on either my Elegoo or my Epax don’t typically shrink more then 2%.

    Thanks for your tutorials Peter. You inspired me to start using blender and purchase a printer.
    I am working on my first ring. A simple one using the array tool in jewel craft. When applying the cutter to the added array gems, it gets an error, unknown position. The cutter is in the correct position on each of the additional gems.
    It does work on the very first gem (original). It's like they are not there although I can see them.
    Any idea?

    • @watchesandjewelry
      @watchesandjewelry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure that you have all your models converted to meshes. Try doing some tests. One ring. One Diamond. One cutter. Then add a second These tests can be helpful and since I’m not there it’s difficult to speculate

      Ok.
      One gem works fine. Just when I use the array.

      Lots of questions. Ok. Depending on your model, if there is an error in the mesh the Boolean tool may not work or in some cases make things worse. There are some little tricks that you can do to fix models without all the work. First export the mesh as a stl. Then import it and remove the original. Second. You can select your model then edit mode then press control T. This will triangulate the faces
      In edit mode you can press shit N to force all faces outward. Fave orientation is important. Subdivision of the surface should be done when you first added the first object. I don’t use it to be honest. Models are small and detail will get done in post casting

You don't need the edit tab to follow my videos, however, if you have not activated the Boolean addon in blender, or the loop tools addon in blender, the edit tab may not appear. For instance, go to the preferences tab in blender, then select the addons tab on the left, scroll down until you find boolean, and make sure that there is a checkmark in the box. If there is, hit the little down arrow, and you should be given an option to put the boolean tool into a tab, by default, it should be in the edit tab. If you want it somewhere else, rename the edit tab to what ever you like, save your settings. The tab, which ever name it has, should appear on the tool panels.

Once installed, make sure that it is activated by placing a check mark in the box for JewelCraft listed in the addons.
