Interesting to see role players like Gomes, Napoli, Drew stepping up when needed. I’ve seen that with the Sox since 2004. Look at this year with Moreland, Pearce, and JBJ, players who don’t hit a lot but are clutch. Money ball. It works.
I remember seeing highlights right after this game and before that last out, the Cardinals radio announcers were laughing at Napoli for holding on Wong rather than playing off the bag. How’d that one turn out? 🤣
As much is I and many Sox fans give Buchholz shit for his attitude and play, he really stepped it up in this game. I remember him saying that he physically could only pitch one more game and he was going to give it his all. His velocity was down to around 86-89, but he basically pitched lights out!
I’d say overall he had a great career as a Red Sox. I think him and Lester were the best pitchers for the Red Sox I’ve seen when I was old enough to really see the greatness. I watched Pedro on tv but I was younger.
MANCHESTER UNITED Ok let them enjoy it there in those countries we don’t like soccer in the United States we love Baseball. I think soccer is quite boring which is why I don’t follow the sport.
@MAN UTD okay nobody cares this video is about baseball not soccer which is actually futbol if you have any knowledge Football American football is one of the most popular sport just saying.
Ortiz was the pretty much the only player that showed up in this world series, there's no i in team but he was a one man wrecking crew if it weren't for him i don't think they win it. But im glad they did!!!
Cole Ruwe There's no rule for if a thrown ball hits a runner, unless he intentionally tried to block the path of the ball, which Ortiz obviously didn't. However, if a batted ball hits a runner in fair territory, then the runner is out.
In the very early days of baseball you could put a baserunner out by "plugging", or hitting him with a thrown ball. But then the rules changed and now the fielder can only tag the runner with the hand or glove which is holding the ball, or with the ball itself, so long as the ball is not dropped in the process..

I have watched that Johnny Gomes homerun at least 30 times. That was YYYYYUGE!

That was the Wong decision

Jonathan Recinos never count us out usually when Sox are in playoffs they win it
Jon Lester was dominant in this world series
I don't understand why you wouldn't put in any if the cardinals runs in the highlight video.

LET'S GO!!!
Watching highlights... Not too familiar with this rule... But the ball defiantly hit David Ortiz on the Red Sox first Run...

Celticsfan1530 Thanks for the clarification.
No rule on that.

Machine.
Like the saying goes, some things are Wong and they’re always Wong!
If cards win this gm. They win the series. Plenty of chances early to break this gm open. Then loser gomes hits a h.r.
Can McCarver make it more obvious he’s still a homer for the Cardinals? You can hear the disappointment in his voice when the Cardinals screw up.
Seek God ♥️🙏
Que doble de David Ortiz
