  • HEY GUYS, In this video I try to show all the steps that happen when picking up a load at a shipper. The load will be a John Deere 770GP motor grader, 39000 lbs. It was listed as 8ft 10inches wide but we stuck the blade under the main body of the grader. So you get to see the flags and banners being put on but I took them off before leaving...

    So, I'm wondering if we can get in contact with each other. I'd like to learn what you know. I left a comment in one of your other videos that I will be starting Valley this coming week. But, I'll be starting on a step. Question though. Will I always have to load my own trailer? And, I need to know the securing points for a motor grader

    There's a flatbed like that in Europe, too. But with such a cool truck, the loading is really exciting. The motor grader is also interesting. Thanks for the video

    I can remember the first time I operated a Cat 14H I had spent thousands of hours on a Cat 16G and the park brake was between the gear shift it took me 15 minutes to work out how to get the park brake off on the 14H push the gear lever down to get it out of park

    Quick question - at 21:48 you secured the rear "hydraulic piece" (rear ripper), but you did not do the same for the front ripper. Is there a reason why this would not be necessary for the regulations [I know it isn't going anywhere!] Thanks.

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Technically, YES...It should have been done...
      Truthfully, I'm not sure if I overlooked it or if it was done later off camera...
      Sometimes I am just trying to get out of there quick...
      If I remember correctly, I knew I had to move it because my weights were not right. But I didn't have time at the shipper to do it. The truck stop was less than a mile away....
      Good catch though !!!

    Nice video... I'm going rgn Friday,any advice for being safe and overall tips?

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      First tip...
      When you are all done hooking up, chaining down, etc... take a deep breath and walk around your whole truck and trailer... Take that extra minute to check your stuff again.... I like to do that to help me relax a little before I start to drive.. .. and you never know what you might find..
      Hope that helps at least a little...
      Good Luck !!!

    Is there a reason you didn’t cross chain the front and rear? Having done this work for a wile now, is there anything you would have done differently? Thank for sharing! WLBS Ken

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh my Goodness !!!
      Had to rewatch this...lol....
      Yes, I would cross the chains on the rear of the trailer, front of the machine.....( I didn't because I was trying to get some reaction in the comment section ) Crossed them at the Truck stop after I scaled... ( good catch though )....
      I think with all that's going on with the rear of the machine I would still do it the same... Any thaught's ?
      The permit no permit for tire bulge is a hot debate... Some state's don't worry about it and some do...?....
      And lastly, as far as doing anything different now that I have been doing this awhile...... I would get in and drive that Bad Boy like I stole it !!!! 🤣😅🤣🤣😅🤣😅🤣.....
      Really appreciate the questions !!!
      Glad somebody is going back through the " archives " ....😁
      Thank you !!!

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The simple answer would be....
      The Newest, most fuel efficient, lightest and highest HP rated truck you can afford...
      If you can get into a truck that will last long enough to use to pay it off, then run it with no payments and save save save.......
      No matter what, I would NOT buy any truck without $10,000 in a account for repairs, no freight, vacation/time off etc.....
      Also, I might wait a little bit.... Right now as unstable as the market is, it may not be the best time to start out....
      Just some advice........
      By the way, THANKS FOR THE SUB !!!!
      I Highly suggest binge watching ALL my videos !!!!!😁😁😁

      @@Trucker2Chains yep. I just started watching them. I haul milk in MD and it's been steady but I'm ready to do my own thing eventually.
      I ran lowboy for 8+ years before that.
      Everyone says freight rates are super low right about now anyway.
      Would you get 40,000 rears with 3.55s?

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bradmyers3327 I believe we are specd at 44k rears.... also not sure about the gear ratio... bout 1700 at 75mph...
      I pull some hills in the northeast and out west down to 10-15 mph....
      Definitely would want high torque/HP motor....
      You can always talk directly to the dealer and spec a truck specifically to your needs.... or they can find a used truck already specd to the use you have intended for the truck....

    Great video, lots of securement. What's each chain/binder rated at? Total has to be 1/2 the cargo weight? When are you delivering it to our farm, lol?

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Steven....
      Securement has to be minimum 49% of load.weird I know.. should be 50%....chains are rated at 6600lbs each.... anything over 10000lbs needs at least 4chains , 1 at each corner...
      Im pulling in this morning, 2 eggs and some hashbrowns and some bacon would be great while Im unloading...😁

    • @kevinguffey1564
      @kevinguffey1564 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trucker2Chains the theory on covering the exhaust is not just debri but wind and air if the engine is not running oil is not getting to the bearings and it will burn a turbo up, by the way valley is a great company, i used to work there

    • @Trucker2Chains
      @Trucker2Chains  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      22.05 and 23.42 shows exhaust cover...
      By the way, on this New Machine... Under 10hrs on meter there is a foam seal inside the exhaust that burns away slowly over the First 10-15 hours the motor is running. Comes out as ash a little at a time... So on new machinery the exhaust cover is just for extra insurance... I put them on everything I haul... 0 liability 4 me...
