Omg I've never camped in my life, I've always wanted to, but I never could. I've would stay in that van for sure. Something i didn't do this year was definitely travel and explore. This year was crazy for me, and I just didn't have the budget and time. I also feel like the year is ending super fast, and I didn't do anything other than work. Great video, Norm! Hugs from Brazil!
I was thinking how cool it was to camp there.... but...as soon as that killer wasp appeared, nope. I would have burned the whole camper and paid the insurance 🤣
I would love to do that as I've always had a thing for camping in isolated camp grounds, the less noise there is of civilization, the happier I am on such trips. =^.^=
If there's one thing I've learned from watching Tokyo Lens, it's that the quality of the campsite directly correlates with the sketchiness of the road leading up to it.
Honestly, I have been following a lot of people who vlog in Japan, and strangly they have never come across or even mentioned these crazy huge hornets. For a hot second I thought that they didn't exist in Japan. I seriously love your honesty and your genuine happpiness.
So happy to see Norm is back to his adventure! (Always perfect music too!) Love the spontaneous encounters to abandoned buildings and beautiful red bridge😆✨The camper van looks really comfy. Hope you will have more campings in the future!
These kinds of adventures in Japan are quickly becoming my life's dream, thanks so much for taking us along with you. Taking steps to quit my job and move out there, we'll see how it goes! I always appreciate the inspiration...and I'm also impressed you didn't have any beer in your cooler.
Hahaha 😂 I was tempted to grab some beer But wanted to be ready to drive if necessary at any moment haha Best of luck to you and what’s remember, if you’re moving out to Japan, make sure to spend your first few years developing as many marketable skills as you can while networking~ You’ll work a lot… but if you build that skill set and network, over time you can build a great life!!
Love your adventure, Norm. All those-not knowing the support poles for the awning, cutting the bag of sausages and dropping it on the ground, cutting a hole in your pocket, that little drama with the hornett, and also bumping your head on the door- are charming & entertaining. 😂
This feels like the most Tokyo Lens camping video ever. Also, I love how you forgot a few important things. I did the same with the family trip we are on right now. I realised last night I forgot something to sleep in and my toothbrush, and something minor for our daughter's health. 😅 Thankfully there was a store nearby and my husband's mother saved us with the healthcare item this morning as she came later. As for staying there, provided we had a similar vehicle to sleep in and a way to deter the wasps (allergy to bees and wasps), I'd give it a go. It looks like a peaceful place. ❤
Finally got the time to watch this! It’s exactly what I needed. A new adventure, some rain, a few spiderwebs, and what feels like a dear friend to share it with. Really enjoyed the bridges and how quiet this campsite was!
I would 100% stay here. The scenery, the freedom, the escape from reality and just having a moment of peace to collect yourself with nature and simply relax. Such a beautiful video. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos to give people the opportunity to experience what they may never have the chance to themselves.
Norm, so glad you got to go camping finally. This looks like a little slice of heaven for camping, I would totally be into this place. Murder hornets and spiders notwithstanding. Thanks for showing us the nature and beauty of Japan outside the cities. Hope you got some good rest for your visit.
Finally more camping content!!!! The camper vans and forest explorations are what really got me into the Channel! It’s great to see more of it, keep up the great work!!
Can I just say, thank you Norm, for giving me a push into camping? When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time just wandering up and down the hills and hollers I grew up in, and as I grew older I just sort of stopped spending time outdoors. But watching your videos had me going "I wanna do that." So I bought some camping gear, and did. So again, thanks for helping me get back outdoors! Also, I'd totally make that drive and stay there. Those roads are positively highways compared to some of the dirt roads around here.
I miss camping and hiking and I have always wanted to spend a decent amount of time in Japan. I don't know if I ever will now but I hope so. I would definitely stay there!
I very much appreciate experiencing your exploration of scenic places like this. I don’t get around much these days and have always dreamed of adventuring through Japans wilderness and countryside. This is wonderful 😊
These little camping adventures give the most "norm" vibes out of every video. You really can see how happy you are getting out again. I'm not the biggest fan of camping, but somehow get envious whenever I see you doing it lol
I just realized that my favorite thing about your channel is how you make me feel like I'm there hanging out with you and you're teaching me as well as showing me the coolest stuff about both life and Japan. The vibes are so cool I forget that you are by yourself filming lol it really feels like I'm there. If I ever need to get away, I just put on your channel and come hang out 🙌🤙
Ah!! 😍 How I've missed the crunching of the debris under the tires and shear drop-offs. Counting down...17 days 😊 Back to the adventure and mystery. Have a great week, Norm 💜✌️🐦
@TokyoLens was wondering if that was the campsite you had to give up on on the trip with Taiki. ✅️ 🗒 It's beautiful, but also really has that creepy vibe. Cooking with Norm - camping edition 💜 No judgment on the cooler. Everything looked amazing, and just what you want when camping. 😱💀 on the suzumebachi and huntsman, but the new camper van looks comfy and well set up. So much love for this one: 🎵, adventure, nature, and a challenge
Hey Norm, I'm so happy you're out camping again because I love seeing the Japanese countryside. This campsite really is gorgeous like you said, I absolutely love it! I would go there in a heartbeat. The remoteness of it all is perfect according to me. Your van was also pretty sweet, looks comfy. Love your videos Mr, take care!
Don’t feel bad Norm, I didn’t fare well this summer either over here in Florida 😢 This year the summer heat was unbearable 🥵 Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos and see Japan through your eyes. I love Japanese culture and anime, I hope to visit one day. 😃 I would definitely do that trip with the camper van it was awesome to watch. Love your camping experience 🙂 I’m completely accident prone so that would’ve totally been my experience as well😅 I really do enjoy watching your videos 😊🤗 thank you again!
Great news @@TokyoLens, it's always a pleasure watching these videos and having them on in between working on music, there's something about the scenery that's just very inspiring. One day I'll immerse myself in it, but until then your channel is a great alternative 😄
I'd just like to say, どうもありがとう! for showing these amazing places. My heart yearns to travel like this & I've always wanted to visit Japan, plus there's a sort of an eerie serenity when viewing abandoned or old places like this. My mind just reels with what the people who lived there use to do in their day to day lives & what happened to them. Each building has a story behind it & I love it. Unfortunately, medical issues have put a stopper to my dreams. Yet, I'm fortunate that I can still experience seeing these small corners of the world when people like you share them! 😊 So thank you & keep up the great work!
Haven't kept up in a while but it's wonderful to see you still loving what you do and your videos have kept such a level of quality and consistency that I don't on other exploration channels, stay safe, thank you, and take care 🤙🏽
Love these adventure videos Norm! As a norwegian, it's understandable that the heat is a bit much, personally I tap out at around 30 degrees celsius so I can't imagine how the japanese summer heat must feel. I really wanna visit japan and explore some myself in the future, would probably travel in spring and not summer though. I must admit that the giant spiders, giant centipedes, killer hornets, bears and snakes kind of scare me, the worst we have in Norway is probably wolves, moose and european adders, although there have been some bear sightings recently so that might change. Anyways, keep it up Norm, love your vids. Btw, is april a good month to travel to japan?
I love watching tokyo lens ... it feels like all my stress are relieved even if it is for that moment but it feels good...and yes someone in the comment section was rigjt ...watching him actually feels like being on a trip with a good old friend
I’m glad that someone finally mentions the downsides to camping, for some reason people act like bugs don’t exist lol. It always seems so peaceful in people’s videos.
Norm, it has been way too long since you've done this and I can't wait to be part of the journey again, watching. Your enthusiasm is exactly how I was and how I will be in Japan, since I find myself in the way you enjoy things and what you enjoy - during Corona when I couldn't enter the country or apply for any job, it was always bitter-sweet to watch your videos and sometimes I'd even avoid Japan content altogether; but with you, I always found some time to sit down and chill watching a VoD of a livestream or a video of you exploring. Now that I'm only waiting for my papers, it's only sweet, no more bitter, when I watch your videos - so keep em coming!
I love these random hidden camping sites! We used to go camping all the time in Northern Japan and it was so nice to be out camping with no one around.
My daughter has been battling brain cancer this year, so realistically we didn't get to do enough of literally anything. Not enough time with friends and family because the chemo annihilated her immune system, not enough days out for the same reason. Not even enough work because my partner and I have been off work most of the year for our daughter. However, she's hopefully had the last of her treatment now, and now we wait for test results and scans to see if she's cancer free 🤞 in the meantime we will make the most of her having an immune system again, and this upcoming Saturday she's going to her first birthday party of 2023! 🎉 We are staying positive, and we'll have plenty of chances to make up for lost time in the future ❤️ Thank you for your videos, they always bring me joy 😊
Interview or day in life of grounds keep would be hell of a video. Talk about dream arborist job. I'm assuming they thin out overgrowth. And wood work.
The campsite looks lovely, wasp included. It's quiet, green, peaceful and hopefully restful. The road to it looks sketchy but the little camper van seems small enough to manouver to the site without too much worry.
Another camping video yay.. these are always soothing to watch with the awesome views and weird and beautiful spots you take us to always make my day.. Thanks for bringing us along.. Happy Sunday Norm..
I wish I could have gone camping this summer too. But gas prices in Canada are pretty bad. On the bright side, these videos allow me to live vicariously through them. 20:47 This is similar to when I mean to turn on a light and turn it off instead because it was already on to begin with. Thankfully it only happens when I'm distracted.
Absolutely gorgeous place ❤ I can see myself camping there in a van but not going to step on the bridge of spiders. The trickling stream would be interesting to see in the spring, when its raging by. The road does not look too bad to drive combared to some roads in Norway 😊 Love the deep colours of green all around.
I would stay there for sure! I love campervan journeys and have done several trips just by myself. There is a unexplainable beauty in being in nature on your own. Thanks for making this video
So glad the weather is becoming for agreeable for such adventures. Thanks for sharing. I’ll never see these site when I have the rare occasion to visit Japan due to family obligations and other priorities. So glad I can experience this through you!
Oh yeah!! This is what I have been waiting for🤩🔥🔥🔥Norm’s solo adventure!! 22 minutes went real fast… I wanted to watch more lol And the new camper van looks so cozy💖 1000% on my bucket list to travel with that camper van to the beautiful camp site in the nature~
So happy to see you camping again. The Japanese country side is always so beautiful and you are one of the few who show that true beauty. Thank you for everything.
Definetly would go to this camping site, the nature is beautiful 😍 I´m glad you got the chance to go camping again Norm, liked the video a lot. I must admit that by watching Tokyo Lens I came to appreciate and love Japan and its nature way more than before, and I am thankful for that 😊
Norm your camper van videos are some of my favorites, I'm glad you were able to do it again despite your busy year. The many outtakes this video has are appreciated!
I would LOVe to go there, the more I watch the more I keep finding out norm likes a lot of things I do. Japan, camping, aviation. Its great to see that all in one package.
I would absolutely adore going out and camping there. Although I might prefer doing it during winter or late autumn when there's less bugs and insects, I hate those so much!
Bro as much as that place looked super peaceful and quiet and of course very beautiful. I have seen enough Japanese horror films to know that I would be mad spooked, esp with no cell service hahaha. Great video though! You ate like a king :)
Looks like you had a great time. Always loved the bridges over rivers in the forest. So serene. If i were to ever do this I would have to overcome my phobia of spiders. 😂
I feel you on the extremely hot summer, out here in the US in Louisiana we were hitting points of 106-110 F with like 50-60+% humidity. No camping was done out here as well.
Funny stuff! How about a giveaway with a flight and that other pop up van for a few silly weeks with the winner? Camping through Japan with a brand new persons perspective could run into many funny adventures!. Personally love the upper pop up just needs a zipper to the outside and light ladder for nite exits. Cheers!
Always love seeing your videos Norm, they're such a wholesome window into some of the best parts of Japan, thanks for the effort you put into everything
I live for this shit! ...... most people do not know how it feels to be in the middle of nowhere eating a hot meal you prepped over a fire, or a hot cup of coffee in the morning as the birds chirp around you..... That feeling is pure freedom :D
So its the night time temps... She will be right by day if she pumps out 42c -107f but its when it lingers + 30c 90F at night is when it starts to hurt. You need that temp drop to 28c Min for a rest or the heat starts to eat you alive. Love from Australia.
I absolutely love that you just gave us the name without a location so we could go find it on our own. That is already my favourite part and I'm glad you understand.
I'm absolutely, utterly in love with this spot; it actually reminds me of where I grew up in Northern Ontario, just add in 8 houses, a hydroelectric power plant and a dam plus the Spanish River and Lake Agnew, and this is so close to my childhood village, which now doesn't exist because all the houses were offered to INCO employees at ridiculously low prices. All they had to do was really pay to have the house moved elsewhere. As it's now a ghost town and grown over, I'd love to get permission to build a tiny house and live alone on the property along with the bear, wolves, owls, bobcats etc. No light pollution, no noise pollution, just complete bliss. Thanks Norm for showing us this magical (at least to me) spot. 🥰
I couldn't help but laugh, and feel bad. Poor Norm, it seemed like if it could go wrong it would go wrong on the trip. Hopefully you still had a good time.
I live vicariously through your camping videos. Not only because camping and japan but because its a dream and the nature is gorgeous. I haven't been camping in years and need to find a way to go soon
There’s a lot of roads like that in New Zealand, fall to your death on one side and death falling on you on the other. The summer sounds similar too. I always have big plans, fishing, projects, trips, but sometimes the heat and humidity leaves me wilted on the sofa watching other people’s adventures.
Bro cooked so much food! Haha four kabob's, a whole steak, thenn 3 glizzies! with the side salad! 💀🤣 must be on a bulk. 💪🏽then bro smacked down some smores effortlessly.. 👏🏽 after a meal and head smack like that, I would have actually slept like a baby. Great content 👍🏼
As much as I would like to camp and such, it's the bugs that's too much for me. So thank you for allowing me to vicariously enjoy it through your experiences .
I love your videos, so glad you’re uploading regularly again! Are you planning on visiting that guy who lived in that old school and made coffee again at some point? I loved how happy he was with his life.
I bought a 23 4Runner just for camping this year only got 2 nights in. And although I do have a stove tent to combat the cold desert nights, there is a vast lack of dense wood to keep it going for any quality shut eye time.
i've had one of the best years of my life so far. It's had its ups and downs, from quitting my job of 16 years to stay home and look after our child, to getting to spend extra time with my old kitty as he passed away. In less than 2 months, my little family will be coming to Japan for our first trip since 2019 to really cap off this amazing year.
it´s always a smart idea to have more food than you need. you could share with someone - if there would be somebody around. and the funny thing (maybe only for me) is that you have different food available (at home), but none of it really tickles your tastebuds, so with different stuff available, you can pick and chose. and what you don´t eat on your trip can be eaten back at home, if stored and cooled properly.
YAY! Camping vid! I've missed these so much! I completely get avoiding being out when it's hot the UK summer killed me this year so can't even imagine how bad Japan was
Great to see you in the big outdoors again Norm. You asked what we missed this year... I was in Tohoku in July but the bl**dy heat was so bad i had to forego a couple of hikes I'd planned. At least the countryside will still be there for next time...
I currently live in Tokyo and I MISSS nature and YES 1000% I would stay here. One thing I feel like I didn't do it a lot this year was probably explore. I was so busy on getting my life together and moving to Japan that I did not take time to explore and be in the moment a lot. I plan to do that next year and for this year I end it off strong. Awesome video!
Thank you so much for sharing that. I think we all need a little. Or we just get our lives in order I spent nearly 10 years here before I started exploring! I hope the next year goes amazing for you.
Looks like a nice place to get away from everything. Rather reminiscent of some camping spots up in the mountains not too far from where I am now, except this looks much better-kept, and the roads really aren't so bad (except that they appear to be one lane). Of course, a hornet of that immense size would present issues... And it is always better to bring too much food than not enough...you never know if you might decide (or if events decide it for you) to stay a day longer than anticipated. And the scene with the leaves falling and the rain was *chef's kiss*.
Looks like a fun camping site! Not loving the road up there, but would be fun to visit, I think! Glad to see you getting to go out and enjoy nature and camping again! Love the van!
Thanks for the video, it was fun to 'go' camping with you again. To be honest with you the animals that scare me the most when camping are the insects. I usually don't mind normal spiders or flies but I absolutely loathe mosquitoes (I'm the one they always go for in my family) and bigger spiders in other countries terrify me. Place looked great though, I'm not very brave so I wouldn't want to drive there, that's what I got you for!
This has to be the first time where I find camping interesting. I would love to try it sometime, just need someone's company lol. I'm a master of bad decisions and I know for a fact that I'd go missing if I ventured into camping by myself. All the more, camping could be SOOO fun. You are cut off from the world and surrounded by the woods. It's definitely on my bucket list.

No
I love how you always make us feel like a good friend you brought along for the trip, thank you for taking us with you.
That's exactly how he make you feel. One of the reasons I love watching his videos.😊
I agree. Nobody else I watch gives me the same vibes as watching Norm.
all too kind~
That being said, thank you for coming along (^-^)
thats actually a really good description of how his videos make us feel, spot on tbh. love watching these videos

Always such kind comments~ Thank you for that
Hope you're still enjoying making videos!!
Norm, you struggling randomly through out the trip was a treat! Made me feel like I was the one camping! Great video as always!
lol it’s all about those little struggles 😂
Glad you enjoyed it eh~ 😊

13:25 is probably my favorite part in this video. The leaves falling with the rain and the soft music is SOO GOOD!
Wish the camera showed how peaceful it was in real life
Finally more camping content!!!! The camper vans and forest explorations are what really got me into the Channel! It’s great to see more of it, keep up the great work!!
been waiting FOREVER to get this going!!

Yes without a cedar pollen allergy.

WAAAAYYYYY Too long
missed this all summer
Glad to be back at it!!
I just stumbled onto your channel, this is my first video and I am hooked! Keep up the awesome work Norm!!!
Glad to have you here and welcome to the adventure~
Always a treat to see you on the rurals, I can't believe how smooth the roads are when they probably only get driven by once or twice a day
Id say that road is more like once or twice a week at best lol
🎉 We are staying positive, and we'll have plenty of chances to make up for lost time in the future ❤️
Thank you for your videos, they always bring me joy 😊
12:25 The Peace and Quiet... and Norm walking around in a bright yellow tshirt talking his head off :))))
If you don't like it, you don't have to stay...
@@aliceDarts but I love it
@@derzemel then stay! 😅 There are so many amazing outdoorsy videos here. It would be a shame to loose a member of the fandom.
✨Super amazing 👑
🍂Happy October everyone 🎃
Love he scenery shots in this video. I turned up the quality to 2160p and it just seems magical
the 4k viewing is an absolute must! haha
Another camping video yay.. these are always soothing to watch with the awesome views and weird and beautiful spots you take us to always make my day.. Thanks for bringing us along.. Happy Sunday Norm..
More to come!
and see you again soon!!
@@TokyoLenswaiting patiently already 😊
Legit might be my favourite channel. Allways just good vibes.
your videos are so cozy :')) this channel is my favorite place to escape to
I would stay there for sure!
The cute music, plus the sound of rubble as you drive, give your video a rather Ghibli-esque charm.😊
Definetly would go to this camping site, the nature is beautiful 😍 I´m glad you got the chance to go camping again Norm, liked the video a lot. I must admit that by watching Tokyo Lens I came to appreciate and love Japan and its nature way more than before, and I am thankful for that 😊
Weather looks perfect. The country looks absolutely stunning. Glad you have a fun and nostalgic experience
I love how despite of how clearly exhausted you were, you still tried to stay positive!
I would absolutely adore going out and camping there. Although I might prefer doing it during winter or late autumn when there's less bugs and insects, I hate those so much!
great video norm! missed those camping videos! also congress on 900k subs ;D ik its super hard to reach this milestone as a youtuber. 1M before 2024?
Bro as much as that place looked super peaceful and quiet and of course very beautiful. I have seen enough Japanese horror films to know that I would be mad spooked, esp with no cell service hahaha. Great video though! You ate like a king :)
I would love to. Seems like a good experience
Cheers!
Did the giveaway already lol
Awesome video as always Nrom. Your camping adventure are always so awesome and so fun.
I always have big plans, fishing, projects, trips, but sometimes the heat and humidity leaves me wilted on the sofa watching other people’s adventures.
mosquito net with magnets sown on the edges works great for car frames if you want to keep the bugs out in a camper as long as the frame is magnetic
Can we all just agree that we need to protect this man at all costs? His videos are like pure asmr, they’re amazing.
The spot you chose is AMAZING!!! it's so beautiful and serene.
Thanks for another great video. Love seeing the beautiful nature that Japan has. Stay safe out there!
Seeing Norm posted ankther adventure always makes my day. Feel like I get to experience the fun adventure as if i'm there myself
it´s always a smart idea to have more food than you need. you could share with someone - if there would be somebody around. and the funny thing (maybe only for me) is that you have different food available (at home), but none of it really tickles your tastebuds, so with different stuff available, you can pick and chose. and what you don´t eat on your trip can be eaten back at home, if stored and cooled properly.
Thank you for the pleasant music while examining the abandoned house. Would've been scared the whole time instead of appreciating it.
YAY! Camping vid! I've missed these so much! I completely get avoiding being out when it's hot the UK summer killed me this year so can't even imagine how bad Japan was
Fingers crossed there's access next week, it's our first destination when we reach Japan based on your video! Looks so beautiful
Or we just get our lives in order
I spent nearly 10 years here before I started exploring! I hope the next year goes amazing for you.
ah I've missed these! I've just realised how close you are to 1m subs! I still have my pre 50k sticker 😭💜
These countryside outdoors videos are the best. 👍
What a peaceful and serene place! Loved the golden orb weavers, though there were a bit too many on that bridge for even myself lol!
Your camping videos are still videos I come back to occasionally for comfort watching so it's very nice to see more of them!
Another hidden gem! That van looks great! Perfect space for 1 or 2 people.
That Nissan camper you borrowed it is really nice and I like all the storage space in the back and the awning👍
Looks like a great place to look around and see all the interesting things that make that campsite wonderful to be at.
Your videos always make me smile. As always, thanks a bunch for these cool adventures.
