Good video, Jon. Thanks for the shout-out.
If Browning would get their poop in a group and import spare parts for their guns that would be a great thing. My buttstock has a "Frankenstein's monster neck-bolt" through it because the stock retention plate shelf tore out and the stock widened out over time. I swear I have more trouble with the G10 than anything else. It's redeeming quality is every time I fix it it runs like a champ and throws great patterns. I'll take my Mag-10's as the back-ups and even my primaries. My G10 took a backseat last season to the Mag-10 Deluxe until bad weather and snow goose conservation season called its name.

Maybe you got a dud. Besides the initial start being relatively rocky, it’s been great since. The main issue was making sure I replaced that buffer system in the stock with a stainless steel version since I hunt all types of weather.
I will purchase another 10ga at some point, but it will be an impulse based on a great price/opportunity.

Thank you for your honest consideration of the Gold 10 shotgun. I have own one since 1999 for deer and turkey.
You have to clean the hell out of it after shooting any goose shot through it.

I clean it at the end of the season, that’s it. If I hunt it’ll the rain; I will do a quick take down/wipe off and add some lube, but that’s it.

Does the 10 gauge really give you more range? Vs the 12g 3.5” shell ???

That’s a loaded question which can be answered both yes and no. Physics doesn’t change depending on gauge. For example, a #2 steel pellet going 1400 fps is no different whether it comes out of a 10ga or a 20ga. The main reason I run a 10ga is pattern uniformity and bigger payloads. The reason people think it gives more range is the fact they’re usually using bigger pellets and don’t have to sacrifice as much on pellet count because payload increases. I have been hunting with a 10ga for over 4 seasons so far and I can’t see getting away from it anytime soon.

The trigger group i will say a friendly tip is the the front pin is splined. Make sure to drive it out the correct way. I luckily didn’t hurt anything. The old trigger group trigger guard housing was broken to begin with so it now has spline indentations in both holes. No big deal because it was broke and getting replaced with a new housing, I repaired it and saved it for an emergency back up if I ever need it.

Federal had changed to a roll crimp instead of a fold crimp. The oval all length of the cases are long roll crimped and won’t feed or cycle in my gold. Federal is aware of the issue and doesn’t plan on changing it. Weird since Browning is/was the ONLY production gun to run 10 gauge. I don’t buy 10 gauge federal ammo any more needless to say.

Yeah I did a complete disassemble it and noticed that. Good call.

I only load my own anymore, but federal hulls suck in 10ga period. I don’t have issues cycling, they simply fail on me unless they’re in a pump or break action.

I've had my gold ten since 07 nothing but the heviest fastest reloads the only thing i' had changed was the mag and return springs after 10 yrs of hunting salt water..I had an issue with rem hulls and a itx load which would get hung up and stove pipe during ejection and thought it was weak springs. What it actualy was the length of the hull with x10x power base under the wad once i started trimming one side of base the issue went away. I tried ww ,terror and briley chokes but went back to the fac full steel choke i have alot more Succes when this gun wears out i'm buying another one.I've had the same problem with fed hulls breaking like that with the hull halfway up the barrel glad it was my last shot

That’s strange, I did not have good luck with factory chokes. Not the worst patterns I ever saw, but not what I was looking for.
If only I could find someone that would trade Remington or Winchester hulls for my federal… I have several hundred of each once fired federal and new primed!

@@avidwaterfowler7522 I find pattering and hunting can be two different animals sometimes .I just wished i tried the factory choke before all the other ones would of save a few bucks lol.

Federal needs to stop using fiber base wads. I use a bps and 2 single shot h&r guns, as you probably know, so I don’t have that issue, but have seen it numerous times from auto loaders. It’s a shame because those hulls actually reload amazingly well and hold up to 3 ounces of shot easily. Jealous of that gold 10 though.

I agree with the federal paper base wad. Regardless, they know they have an issue with 10ga hulls. The old brass heads use to split without being fired (loaded of course) and the new ones are steel. So they fixed that issue, but won’t fix the plastic hull portion. I have had similar failures with both brass and steel heads. I like the way the Winchester and especially the Remington Hulls load. For me, the federal hulls only fail when it’s cold. I shot 50 in the heat and clay birds and they ran 100 percent.
I wish I could find someone to trade all my new and used federal hulls for Winchester or Remington hulls.

Terror tub 🫡 all I can say I shoot coots at 80yards all day 😂😂 but my issues are only federal I can find I won’t pay 3.24 a shell for boss when my 🛻 gets 9mpgs 😂

Hahahaha. The terror tube is awesome, I own one but don’t use it all that often for my style of hunting.
I’ll be loading my own bismuth for next season. I’m about done with federal for anything 10ga.
My truck gets 15 when going down hill with the engine off.
