    Dude, I don't know how you are able to so quickly analyze and pick up on the lyrics of songs. That's a real talent and a gift. Most of the time I struggle to even understand what they're saying, let alone dive into the lyrics so quickly!
    Great work, man. You're definitely one of the best reactors out there!

    Shon...your channel for me is one of the best. Love the way you listen so intently before you react. You have a natural intuition in feeling the music and the meaning. This was a huge hit in the 80s when i was growing up and for me although they were a big band back then i felt they were underrated. Love the Bass in this one for sure.

    Mark King the lead singer is also one of the best bassists of all time. He pioneered the art of the "slap bass" that was hugely popular in the late 90s.

    • @iplaybass6690
      @iplaybass6690 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Funk bassist Larry Graham is generally credited with inventing the slap bass technique:
      How he discovered it: Graham created the technique to imitate the sound of a drum set when his band, Sly and the Family Stone, didn't have a drummer yet. He would thump the strings with his thumb and pluck them with his finger to compensate for the lack of a back beat on the snare drum.
      What the technique is: Slap bass is based on two techniques:
      Slap: The bassist hits the strings near the neck of the guitar with the bony part of their thumb.
      Pop: The bassist plucks the strings and then lets them twang against the fretboard.
      What he called it: Graham called the technique "thumpin' and pluckin'".
      Other notable slap bass players include:
      Doug Rauch: Pioneered the double-thumb slap bass technique.
      Bernard Edwards: Used his thumb and pointer finger together to create a percussive pound.
      Louis Johnson: Used the technique in a variety of genres, including pop, soul, and R&B.

    • @iplaybass6690
      @iplaybass6690 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Mark king is a great bass player but he did not pioneer slap bass, he just utilized it like many other bass players of the 80's and 90's pop scene

    • @aragorn1ring
      @aragorn1ring 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@iplaybass6690 There can be more than one pioneer of something. Its the reason I didnt choose the word "invented." Just like McCartney with the electric bass, he helped popularize it. Thats a pioneer.

    • @iplaybass6690
      @iplaybass6690 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aragorn1ring sorry I wasn't aware you were using an alternative definition of pioneered... and technically you did use the word "invented" as pioneer is a synonym of invented. I think the term you were looking for is revolutionized the slap bass, as it was already popular with funk and some jazz players for many years before Mark King started breaking boundaries and speed records. I do not disagree with your initial statement, only your choice of words
      pi·o·neer
      /ˌpīəˈnir/
      verb
      past tense: pioneered; past participle: pioneered
      develop or be the first to use or apply (a new method, area of knowledge, or activity).
      "he has pioneered a number of innovative techniques"

    Level 42 is a very underappreciated UK '80s band, though they could adapt to any genre due to their musicianship: They started in 1980 performing live instrumental jazz funk, later adding vocals to an R&B pop sound, and later Pop Rock towards the late '80s and early '90s. Two of the four original members (lead vocalist and bassist Mark King, keyboardist and falsetto vocalists Mike Lindup) started out playing drums. Rounding out the original members are drummer Phil Gould and his late brother, Guitarist Boon Gould, both of whom did most of the writing for their songs.
    They still perform today mostly in Europe with a modified band lineup: Mark and Mike are still part of the group, along with Mark's brother Nathan on guitar, and Pete Ray Biggin on drums.

    Also on this song: There are so many different hooks that are given space to breathe, from the opening and closing harmony, the irresistible main riff, that 4-tone melody sprinkled in the first two verses, the bass drop with the second chorus, the counter melody in the second chorus, and even the soft guitar riff spacing out the song title and lyrics at the end of the first chorus.
    This song was their first of only two US top 40 hits. "Something About You" reached #7 in June 1986, and "Lessons in Love" reached #12 about the same time the following year. Their other songs charted better in Europe.

When this album came out, I thought it was more "adult contemporary" than "pop," but a guy I had a crush on at the time let me listen to the tape before I bought it. Divine Will = God/Father
    Divine Manifestation = Individualized God Soul/Mother/Son
    Divine Demonstration = Soul Body/Holy Spirit
    We are all the Images of God in Differing Progressions of Receptivity to Itself. This is why we are told not to Judge After Appearances, and Judge ye no man after the flesh, as well as, take no thought for your life, as God is the Only Presence!!
    The Image is the Holy Spirit, which means You, Him, Her, That, It, and Me. When we see the form and judge it as form, we are denying God Omnipresence. When we see the form and know it is God being itself in perfect receptivity to itself, we don't judge the image, thereby using Righteous Judgment.
