With the background to know of how South Africa won the World Cup 2007 by the kicks of Montgomery, incredible how far he was 1997 from the ability he had years later.
We should have got a prize for missing every single conversion/penalty kick! Classic B & I Lions team, this series loss hurt us for years, even though we were RWC champs!
That was a rugby match. Two equally matched sides, only difference was the Lions had someone who could kick penalties and conversions. Keith Wood kicking the ball the length of the field and Guscott with the drop. Iconic. This tour was a huge benefit to England as the experience Dallaglio, Johno, Richard Wood, Dawson all got made the the players they were to win the WC six years later
I remember watching this at the pub, something like a midday kick off UK time. That social continued through to Tyson v Holyfield 2, the ear biting one. Called it a night about 6am. 18 hours. Needless to say I didn’t get to see the rugby re-run for a couple of days! 😂
I never enjoy watching a game live when I have an “interest” in one of the teams (for me, that means The Lions or England). Just too nervous. But I love watching the replay irrespective of who won because all my tension has gone.
I watched it live. I was on a stag night in Dublin - I’m Welsh I should say, but in this bar in Temple Back there was a stack of us Welshmen, obviously a lot of Irish but also there were Scots and English. A great afternoon….✌️👍
@@Arianrhod6 I was in Australia for the last 2 tests of 2013. We go to Oz every year anyway for family - to the extent that we have a house, car and the obligatory tinnie over there. We went into Sydney the day before that test and the whole area around the ferry terminal, the Opera House was just red. And everyone was so brilliant - great atmosphere. I know that there are people who want any team but England to win any game but all I saw, heard and said was that it was the Lions first, second and last. My son out there got the tickets over there and so we were sat in the Aussie section. So, 3 in red amongst a sea of gold. When it became clear who was going to win early in the second half, quite a few Aussies started to leave; I think you could say that we questioned them quite vociferously about their exit plans….
When you win, it's we are the greatest, but, when you lose its, what excuse can we come up with. So, let's agree. The lion's had more points on the board when the ref blew time. Agreed😅
Sad how many are no longer with us, Ruben Kruger, Joost van der Westhuisen and Tom Smith. Three of the best.
We left so many points out there. A flattering choice of footage for the Lions.
What a kicker Neil Jenkins -proud to be Welsh
What a player Tim Rodber was.
Neil Jenkins was outstanding in this win
He did what Matt Dawson did in the first. Absolutely top class.
The great thing about the Lions is that it brings all of our warring tribes together as one.
The great Neil Jenkins was magnificent in this game and the series of course. Neil’s kicking out of this world.
Scott Gibbs on this tour was insane

Gregor Townsend doesn’t get enough respect as a player. Some world class running lines.
10:46 the swinging punch by South African's 19 lol Wouldn't get away with that these days.
What a ferocious Lions!!

Neil Jenkins amazing performance won the match outright..
He was superb, but watching the game again the Boks should have won but for their woeful goal kicking
Foot,in touch
Great test series & I still have the original shirt which is worth a small fortune now
I was there for first 2 tests -best 3 weeks of my life
Best Lions series was in 74 .And I am a South African. That was a brilliant Lions team.
Would be great to see a crowd like this at Loftus on Saturday
Best Lions Series Ever
Would’ve loved to have seen this live, I was nervous watching the highlights even though I know the full time result 😂

The rucks were a real contest as were the scrums. The modern game is reffed to the point that teams are scared to have the ball.
How did the Lions win this game? Boks chucked it away
Shocker Percy.
Great Lions team (as always) . We were better but hadn’t matured into winning knock out rugby yet.
Jenkins is the best kicker of all time.
Great top pace rugby the way the game should be played.
I was there🎉
South Africa lost this mainly because of the awful goal kicking
I was there with 3 mates from the OAs rugby club
Great win, top marks but then came Victor and Bakkies, what could possibly get worse?
"They're not going to win by defending".
Really Stuart? 🤔
Lol it's so funny how much rucks have changed - so many players going for freebie elbows and knees wherever they can here
A better game still then. Seems like yesterday- worryingly.
so basically we lost bec its the poorest goal kincking from sbok point off veiw ever.
only because we missed ALL our kicks , would have been a comfortable Springbok win if we coverted
Scott Gibbs human battering ram.
How many times were the lions offside in the rucks. Everytime
Coached by 'Creamy' Telfer, of course they were offside. John Jeffrey made a career of it and he was albino white - not that hard to spot you'd think!
You lost shut up@@gus8024
Green and gold, the same colour as diarrhea. The Lions rule!
useless performance by the place kickers
I thought Jenkins had a great game
Referring to Springboks
@@rayfinkle2805🤣🤣🤣👍
Proper rugby not the sanitised crap of today!
Haha..honeyballs and the BUM SQUAD beaten 😅
Lions is my wappy dog l
SA WANKAZ
So jenkins CALMLY puts 15 on the board.
Guscotts drops a goal,,celebrating like a lottery win.
Get over yourself 👎🏼
They had just won the series - first time in SA 😂
@@BruceMethven Second time. 1974 the Lions wiped the floor clean with our Boks! Those Lions were called the invincibles!
1st time post apartheid
