The original version was by Dire Straits and was written post Falklands war, it was also the end theme to a TV drama called Civies about a bunch of ex Paras when they had left the British Army, it's a moving song but I've always found it a bit maudlin. I was at a Regimental reunion in 2010, it was a dinner and disco thing, the DJ suggested ending the night with Brothers in Arms but we told him to sack it off and play Boogie Wonderland instead because, we all knew why.
